Mariah is promoting the My All challenge . We need "My All" to become a viral hit. I'm still not sure why it wasn't certified 2x platinum when "Honey" was since "My All" had better Soundscan sales and has better streams, but it would be great to see this challenge help it get there (or more so to 3x platinum).

Love seeing Mariah get her flowers but Fantasy >>> Fantasy (Remix) sorry !! Both should be included, the remix wouldn't have been a smash without the original.

For a while, it felt like TEOM was the only album/era that really got love from critics. It's really nice to see the Butterfly and Daydream albums/eras getting their dues lately.

When was the last time Mariah appeared on The View? Has she been on since the late 00s?

I don't know but considering her friend Barbara Walters retired years ago, she might not feel comfortable appearing on that show since certain co-hosts on the show haven't been warm to her in the past. :)

Maybe, but since Miguel had started writing the track before Mariah got involved, there would have been no real reason for Bruno to be the duet partner. Meanwhile, Mariah and always acting like "lambs" like what she does lol:

Butterfly is #60 here. Oddly Daydream did not make it despite having two songs on their Singles list.

I hope her new studio album continues the progress she made with Caution in marrying her old school sensibilities with a modern approach. I really love Caution, and I can listen to that album without skipping tracks.

Yeah Merry Christmas should get 9x platinum this year, and Merry Christmas II You should move to platinum. That would get her to 72.5 million to unofficially tie Streisand (I don't see the RIAA ever counting her duet album on the tallies page; they also don't count some of Mariah's duets on the singles tallies page). Of course what we'd all like to see is for the debut to finally hit Diamond.Let's just hope we are all still alive if that unlikely day ever comes. :) Liron said it's not even close to 10X. Well I've been told the issue is music club sales (this seems to be an issue for a few artists). Some of that data has been lost or something. Does anyone have an official source for that BMG data that came out in 2003 or so? I can find messageboards and such that have copy and pasted that top 100 list, but not an official source like Billboard or something that printed it. Labels are literally looking for anything official to use for data.

They wouldn't need the record clubs to tell them how many were sold, just their own record of how many units shipped in the market? Unless we're saying they don't even know how many units they pressed/shipped to the clubs.

Unless we're saying they don't even know how many units they pressed/shipped to the clubs. It depends if they kept hold of those records (i.e. transferred the data to new systems and such), know where to locate the data, etc. I have it on good authority this is an issue for a lot of albums, and it can be different within specific artists. When it comes to the RIAA, for some albums and singles they have truly complete data (for instance, when an album was certified 5x platinum the RIAA may have a record that it was actually at 5.3 million at that point) whereas for other albums they may just have the certification (i.e. they only know it was certified 5x platinum and not what it was at exactly). That would be based on what the label submitted at the time. For an updated certification in this hypothetical, a label might then have to only prove 700k since the last certification or might have to prove a full 1 million since the last certification. That's where poor record keeping comes in because if sales weren't fully kept up with and the RIAA doesn't have the true figure at the time of last certification, some sales may never get accounted for.

Very interesting! Thanks you for posting about this. One might be able to guess that record labels didn't keep immaculate records when transferring to digital, but it's interesting to have confirmation. I know it's hearsay, but do you know other artists/albums may be affected? I wonder if criminally undercertified Janet is one.

Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I see a pic of these two together… I was obsessed with Katie back during the Dawson’s Creek days. So cool to see two of my favs together. #MC16 is being funded by scientology!

Pitchfork ranks Fantasy as the #1 best song of the 90’s: BEYOND ELATED that great music finally gets the acclaim it should've always had. Another win for Slaydream which started it all, the blueprint Mariah would choose to follow in her subsequent eras. The vocal peak, the concept album, the tortured writing process, the sequestered environment in which it was conceived... finally everything gets recognised.
