^And besides, Mariah is one of just a few who can actually say and show they were both a singles hitmaker(18 #1's and 2nd only to The Beatles for crying out loud!) AND an album seller(the #1 female album seller since the SoundScan Era began and 3rd overall after The Beatles & Garth Brooks for crying out loud!). And that's just a fraction of so many things this woman has accomplished. People easily forget. Mariah might not get another single hit in her career and she'll forever be regarded as a legend. The accomplishments and natural born talent don't lie, she is a one of a kind artist that will live on forever.  |

Susan Boyle rose to fame via a reality show (that gained worldwide notice), so a totally different scenario.
It's true, that Mimi doesn't need to score any more big hits, as she has been one of the most successful acts of all time.

And Susan Boyle sold albums, she didn't have a hit single. She also had a target demo of people who bought albums, and didn't she pretty much only sell during the holiday season? While I get the general point of "You never know," Mariah's current style of music and promotion doesn't fit into a Susan Boyle situation.

I think for Mariah to be a top seller AKA go platinum or beyond; her music is just going to have to resonate period. I don't think in today's music climate Mariah's style is going to tap into new markets for her. She would have to be willing to explore new genres or just have that moment where everyone is itching for a taste like on TEOM. #Beautiful was an example of people getting excited about Mariah again. Trust me that song worked wonders for her in ways you don't even know. I mean all my friends and people in my life who I didn't even think Mariah registered to them liked that song and talked about it. I think it would take a similar branching out for her to intrigue new people into the fold. It is hard to say what Mariah is looking for in her career. I am sure there is an element of sales in there because nobody wants to have low sales, but maybe it is making music for fun or filling out her legendary status. Only time will tell.

Is the Trey Songz version the one BET/106 & Park plays? It is back in the top 1,500, but, yah, it';s not a heckuva lot of units for tracks ranked in the 1,000s.

I wonder why it is taking her so long to get this particular album done. Has she lost the fire for making albums. Maybe she's reached a point in her career where she's not as hungry for success as she once was. I remember when the TEOM came out, we could tell that hunger was there for more success. She was eager for a comeback. Now she is more nonchalant about getting her work done. I'm disappointed that this album is going to be pushed back yet again. I almost want it to be because "You're Mine..." was a such a stinker and I can't see this era being a success without a decent single to launch it. |

Hope she does realize the album-release date is seven weeks away. Seven weeks is not a long time. Mariah needs to put out a new single in the next few weeks if she is going to launch this era with any fanfare. It'll be interesting to see if she drops the second single in the coming weeks. I think this project is going to be pushed back. |
