If there ever was a perfect example of why Mariah is the one and only, the 3 versions of My All is the explanation. There is the original class with the powerful and sultry vocals a ballad of supreme divine intervention, honey. Then there is the fun and cute video plus the urban smash remix of it which i still consider a bop today and that dance mix, OMFG. She took one track and made 3 fucking classics out of it for 3 different audiences, YAS MIMI! get it.

Billboard Today in 1996, Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men's "One Sweet Day" spent its 16th week at No. 1 on the #Hot100, wrapping the longest reign by any song in the chart's history Wow. It really spent a long time at number one to have still been at no.1 in March of 1996. I live in NYC and I find that I don't hear "One Sweet Day" on the radio at all anymore. I don't hear much Mariah on the radio at all these days to be honest. I don't know why that is. Do people elsewhere still hear her on the radio? I'm surprised but I rarely hear her TEOM stuff on the radio. "Touch My Body" vanished from the radio as soon as it fell down the chart in 2008. How does Mariah do in recurrent play, anybody know? I hear other huge artists on the radio much more than Mariah.

Also of the top of my head im pretty sure 7 weeks is long enough considering she made "Rainbow" from start to finish in just a couple weeks or so. Let her put whatever finishing touches she wants aslong as they dont move the album date, im cool.

Different from the "Morales "My" Club Mix" and his "Classic Mix". The "My All" dance remixes are my all time favorites next to "Say Somethin" (Stereo Anthem Mix)". Don't forget we got "Mi Todo" with dance remixes and the Full Crew remixes, too. lol I loved the Butterfly era because we had millions of #pow remixes. I lost/broke all my CD singles with the remixes from that era. Time to do some online shopping. I'd also like to find some of the vinyls with remixes. Sorry for the tangent...

I loved alot of her dance mixes not so much anymore but whatever, I think Say Something or Obsessed remix is the last one i enjoyed. Sorry for all the talk of past glory but we aint getting much current news so again, whatever.
The reason I remain bullish that the chances of this album still being good is really outside of Charmbracelet and Rainbow, I have quite enjoyed or loved every other album regardless of songs I didn't like. When the record is that strong I think the chances this collection of work will be good still remains high. I hope anyways.

It's the ultimate gay, fierce yet straight molly anthem ever. I've never hated an album of hers, but I'll admit I don't listen to Charmbracelet much outside of "Through The Rain", "Bringin' On The Heartbreak", "The One", "Yours", and "Sunflowers for Alfred Roy".

I do not like Charmbracelet and I have a feeling this album will join that club. However, I'd be more than satisfied if there was one JAM on the album, and a few songs that I find pleasant and can bump while walking to work.

The only albums of hers that I don't go out of my way to listen to are Charmbracelet and Rainbow. Charmbracelet because the vocals and production were terrible on it, and Rainbow just came across as very cheap overall and a very of the moment album. I think her most underrated album would fall between Glitter and Memoirs. I give the slight edge to Glitter in that one as most of the songs were on point and interesting. I liked Memoirs, but I think where Memoirs failed is individually I liked all the songs, but as an album it had like this one note element in the production where it all blended together. I think the Dream overall let her down in breaking up the monotony of the album.
I think the hardest part for me is watching the quality of her work ethic slightly deteriorate. For someone who is such a perfectionist as Mariah, I scratch my head at the lackluster set of dance and urban remixes she releases and the glamour shot videos lately. I don't expect remixes for every song she does, but if she is going to do remixes, I do expect a modicum of effort put into at least the first two singles or songs that mean a lot to her. Mariah was golden with her remixes I would say up through Rainbow, and then she lost her way for a bit. She then seemed to find a return of form on TEOM, and then she has just kind of lost it again since. For me, if you are making the effort to do a remix, then you are committing to actually realize a remix. I think she has had a lot of good ideas for her remixes, but I don't think they were properly executed resulting in poor remixes.

I personally LOVE the LOVERBOY CLUB OF LOVE REMIX. I love how tired and delirous she sounds, all doped up on the love shot given to her by her sugar daddy.

I got a little brave and put the Loverboy Remix (with Da Brat's infamous shade-throwing verse) on the playlist for a St Paddy's party I DJ'ed yesterday. People were bopping all over to it, even the ones who didn't know it. The power! I also threw the #B remix on there (with Jeezy) for good measure.

get2noinmey, Mariah gets decent recurrent play. The bulk of an act's recurrent play comes from AC, but she also gets some at other formats (with pop contributing the least). "One Sweet Day," however, doesn't receive as much as ones like "Always Be My Baby," "Hero," "I'll Be There," etc.

My all is the perfect Mariah's single. it works in every format and sounds perfect in all of them. I mean, what song do you recall that can be a ballad, a urban song and a dance track and doesn't sound like it's a remix but an original song. perfection

I'm hoping that it's only because, according to her own tweets, the album still isn't done and she has been going hard to finish it. However, I'm glad that she (hopefully) won't be spending her tv time promoting You're Mine. It would've been a waste for her to be on all the talk shows promoting that turd that'll never re-enter the Hot 100. At least she can focus on album/new single talk.

This is progressing at radio at a glacial pace. I mean I am glad that it is still moving up, but this is like agonizingly slow.

I seriously think Joy Ride is one of my favorite Mariah songs. Criminally underrated, down to that "FROM THE DAY" growl and it ends on that classic extended Mariah note.

There were definitely bops detected. I appreciate it more than I used to, I think it works better in the current music climate. <3

According to Mediabase, looking at the airplay averages on POP and RHY radio for her lead singles it's clear that IDJ messed up Obsessed becoming her 19th #1 hit!
Average of POP & RHY airplay combined: Dreamlover -1 Fantasy-1 Honey-5.5 Heartbreaker-12 Loverboy-29 It's Like That-12.5 Touch My Body-5 Obsessed-5 #Beautiful-12.5
If Sony could get Hearbreaker to #1 (which was not even a top 10 airplay hit on POP & RHY combined) then surely IDJ could've figured out a way to get Obsessed to #1!

"Obsessed" was not discounted like "Heartbreaker" was- plus, HB charted in an era when many of the biggest radio hits didn't have CD singles, so it was easier to get to the top.
"Obsessed" did pretty well at radio, topping out at No. 6 on Hot 100 Airplay. (HB, by the way, peaked at No. 8 on Hot 100- Airplay, on the strength of non-pop play; it missed the top 20 at pop radio).

It would be interesting to see what she could do with a writing session or two with Sia. I would die to hear that infectious chorus.

"Obsessed" was not discounted like "Heartbreaker" was Obsessed cost 99 cents, right? What did Heartbreaker cost?

I don't think Heartbreaker was discounted. The only single I know of that was heavily discounted was Loverboy which I believe was discounted to 69 cents.

The cheapest I've ever heard "Heartbreaker" was sold for was 99 cents. There were a lot of 99 cent singles at that time. I think I paid $1.99-$2.99 for it.
"Obsessed" probably could have gone to #1 if they delayed the digital release as long as they did with "Touch My Body".

"Obsessed" took longer to climb in airplay than TMB, so that may not have had No. 1 potential, regardless. I don't recall if it was discounted on iTunes (even for a brief time).
Some of Mimi's Sony-era singles were 99 cents for the CD, which was pretty cheap, when most discounted CD singles were $1.99; cassette singles were 99 cents and under. It could vary by outlet, too- "Loverboy" was 49 cents, and at some outlets, there were reports that the maxi was being sold for as much- Sony, of course, matched the 49 cents with "Bootylicious" (not sure if it was all outlets). Few big radio hits were released as singles at the time, which allowed "Loverboy" to jump to No. 2 on the Hot 100, as it had a No. 50 airplay peak.

They already announced a release date, released a single(s), etc., so it wouldn't be a shockeroo like Beyonce's album was. But some may avoid streaming services- or at east hold off on them.
