If there ever was a perfect example of why Mariah is the one and only, the 3 versions of My All is the explanation. There is the original class with the powerful and sultry vocals a ballad of supreme divine intervention, honey. Then there is the fun and cute video plus the urban smash remix of it which i still consider a bop today and that dance mix, OMFG. She took one track and made 3 f**king classics out of it for 3 different audiences, YAS MIMI! get it. But she outdid herself with 'Heartbreaker' later. FOUR versions and they all fit like gloves. #genius :'( + "I Still Believe" :'(

Is it possible that this is Mariah? Lady Gaga and Rihanna were the first two names that came to my mind when reading this.

lol whoever is attempting that beware, you aint Beyonce.
Anyways is the album title going to be released or what. The fact they haven't indicates to me their is a possibility the album could further be pushed back and they don't wanna leak another name.

It would be interesting to see what she could do with a writing session or two with Sia. I would die to hear that infectious chorus.

Is it possible that this is Mariah? I don't think so. specially since Mariah didn't even know about drunk in love maybe she's not either aware of it either lol If there ever was a perfect example of why Mariah is the one and only, the 3 versions of My All is the explanation. I am ready for You're Mine to move on I am ready for something else. Hopefully, something a little bit more palatable this time. I like You're Mine it is just that she didn't do anything to sustain my interest in it at all. The video is meh and so are all of the remixes. Time to move on to the hot club banger.

I doubt that iTunes suprise thingy is Mariah(although that part about giveaways and bonuses to the most dedicated fans is very MC, she loves doing that kind of stuff). The names that immediately pop into my head were Adele, Rihanna or Gaga.

I believe the surprise ITUNES release is Lil Wayne. I feel like I read that somewhere anyway.

The language concerning fans for the release on i-tunes is very Mariah, but Mariah has never had that market that is consistent with digital sales. So, I am not sure going in that direction would benefit her. I mean it couldn't hurt as a vehicle to reintroduce her to the digital market; however, I think she would need a stronger vehicle than You're Mine to focus the energy on such a deal.

Is it possible that this is Mariah? I am wondering if this isn't Shakira. She and Beyonce are label mates if I am not mistaken, so the label might be trying to strike again.

Regardless of who it actually is, it won't be news like it was for Beyonce. That was a moment in time. This just feels like iTunes is trying to dress up a scheme to maximize their profit as some big artist revelation.
The thing to learn from Beyonce's release was that it'll be smart for labels to make the first week an album comes out album-only instead of being able to cherrypick songs. I don't think an iTunes exclusive is going to boost anyone's sales up.

Not only did Mariah already announce a release date (so it wouldn't be a surprise), but even if it came out next week as a "surprise", there just isn't much hype behind this project (let alone the kind of hype BeyoncĂŠ built up before releasing her's).

It's probably Lana or Madonna. Those are my guesses.

The only solo singers I see could pull what BeyoncĂŠ did are Adele and Rihanna. I'm sure I'm missing some good ones, but those are the only two I can think of right now and Adele being the one making a MASSIVE MONSTER of event.

I think Adele could do it, but I think Rihanna is too on people's radar, and she releases albums so frequently that I would say it wouldn't surprise anyone. I think Jazzy is right in it could quite possibly be a male artist. It sounds like an Usher thing.

Might as well be Mariah because when the album drops it sure will feel like a surprise that came out of nowhere, release date and all.

I don't think the general public knows so far a Mariah album is coming out or perhaps that she even released a song weeks ago. Lil Wayne will get more of the attention that week and I guess the #1 too. Hopefully her management has a BIG INSTANT IMPACT single planned for April...

Can we get an album title or track list? This lack of information is growing stale.

Yes- how long could it possibly take to come up with a firm title? Those CDs are going to have to enter the pressing stage soon, I'd think.

I forgot big time another heave weight who could easily be!! Taylor Swift. She's somebody else who could do this. Anyway, maybe this discussion should be moved somewhere else, ha ha. This is a Mariah thread and Mariah does not have the power to pull such launching of an album. I still have my eyes on her strategy for April. It is vital for the performance of the album.

I'm really over this current single. Can she at least talk about what's coming soon?
You're Mine has charted on a lot of Billboard charts (Hot 100, Digital Songs, R&B Songs, Dance/Club, Pop Songs, Adult R&B Songs, R&B/Hip Hop Airplay). Way to go, Mimi. You're a multi-format star again. Now give the public something we can work with.

I don't think YM cracked the top 50 on Digital Songs, but, yah, it's appeared on a number of charts. And, hey- "#Beautiful" appeared on multiple format charts, so what's with this "again"? At the latest, the new single should hit 2-3 weeks prior to May 6- so, week of April 15 or 22.

Riddle me this lambs (especially those who stan for YM (E): why is it that Mariah sounds positively tenuous at best (gormless, at worst) delivering a vocal performance that is so firmly planted in her comfort zone as an artist, while on The Art of Letting Go, she runs the full spectrum of her abilities? Say what you want about the latter song, but it highlights everything that is right with Mariah as a vocalist, which has been no easy feat as of late. I will take a meandering set of lyrics and unfocused melody ANY DAY over non-committed, non-threatening, and safe. YM (E) is barely a small feat for a strong technical singer. TAOLG is a veritable master class, especially in comparison to YM (E). I shouldn't be surprised I feel this way, seeing how I Wish You Well is one of my favorite Mariah songs of all time. When I hear TAOLG, I hear the mark of a true artist: sublime instrumentation (I'm a sucker for strings), true emotion, and warmth. In contrast, when I hear YM (E), I hear an artist who is seriously struggling to maintain a foothold in pop relevance. Frankly, I am not here for that. I expect artistry from Mariah. She has earned that right, as an established force in the music industry. I love the woman with all of my being, but if this album is full of YMs, and not #Bs and TAOLGs, it will be very hard for me to mask my disappointment.
