I don't even mind JD but that is a LOT of JD. Especially when there are so many interesting producers she could be working with. Like even though we always bring up people like Aaliyah and Brandy with regards to the Jhene/Tinashe/Cassie brand of R&B, I could totally see Mariah gliding over those kinds of songs if she was willing to work with people like 40, no ID or even Fisticuffs.
Also for the covers, I'm not going to get my hopes up since in all likelihood they will be grandiose power ballads from the 80s but I'd really like to see her cover some current alternative rock band like Muse or something. It sounds weird but idk, I could actually really hear Mariah singing something like Time Is Running Out for some reason (with some Mimi-fied lyrics of course.)

Considering her last couple of 80s rock covers flopped, I am betting she goes more the soul song route. Ever since Mariah sang part of Hole's "Violet" in Rolling Stone in the late 90s, I have longer for her to cover that song!

She sang it to the interviewer; there wasn't any audio. Here is an excerpt from the 1998 interview/article (and it was "Ask For It" she sang, not "Violet," and I can totally see her relating): Mariah also sang on a Courtney Love song, though we will never hear it: www.rollingstone.com/music/news/courtney-love-nearly-scored-a-mariah-carey-guest-spot-on-nobodys-daughter-20100201

Uggghh, I would die for that.
I love Mariah to fucking pieces, but the only thing that pisses me off is how the vast majority of the unreleased songs and remixes stay in vaults within vaults, most likely to never be heard. LIke really Mimi? You can't even give us a damn HQ of "Skydiving" or the resung "#Beautiful" dance remix that you promised us in your first and only recent voicemail since the TEOM era?!

My bet is this is "How Much" with Usher off Rainbow, no? It would be weird if she did another song with JD that uses the same title phrase as an old track. Yes Maybe she is covering herself, lol.

LOL. Speaking of covers, IWTKWLI just came on. I forgot that lyric change. Mariah REALLY has a complex about aging, doesn't she.

^Original: In case I need it when I'm older Mimi: In case I need it when I'm colder I never even noticed it. Oh, Mimi.

That is the ONLY cover by Mariah that I do not like...at all. I hate that song(the original) like there's no tomorrow. When I first heard she was gonna cover that song I couldn't believe it. I was like, please don't, please!!! It's all St. Nick's fault for giving her the idea of covering it. Ugh! Anyhow, I treat that song like Mariah treats the existence of Jlo, "I don't know...it"

I like her vocal on "IWTKWLI," actually; it's a pretty intimate/heartfelt vocal. I don't care much for the production, though, and it's edited weird (it ends randomly, but they also cut a lot from the original). I think the original is a great song; who can't relate to that lyric? I like the original song (and it pretty much started the trend of gospel choirs in pop songs), and I like Wynonna's soulful cover as well. Have you ever seen this? www.youtube.com/watch?v=epODISlA4i0

I love her voice and the husky tone and the way she gives herself to the emotions of the songs during rainbow era. nowadays it seems like she's a robot and it's like she's not even there in the stage. so weird

I never even noticed it. Oh, Mimi. Color me surprised. I figured you would be the first to notice something like that.

^or at least the second or third. ;)
It's subtle, so I must have glossed over it. Then again, I never had the lyrics to the song memorized, outside the chorus.

...but...she is avoiding talking about ageing. She must have omitted that lyric because she knows her hit making days are over since she is a female over 40 and was having a hard time accepting it when she decided to cover the song.

It's pretty known/obvious Mariah has an issue with aging. We didn't need that lyric change to know that considering she has "anniversaries" and not birthdays, and always makes a comment if people talk about her age or even the age of her songs (in the interviews last year she balked when that lady on Andy Cohen's show mentioned her age, and she also made a comment to that Today host who mentioned how old "AIWFCIY" is).

She needs to get over the age thing. It is all common knowledge that she can't hide from not to mention that she looks great for her age obviously with a bit of help from surgery, but she still looks great.

I think the age thing is also a big part of the reason she often performs her 00s hits and not her 90s hits. I think she wants to remind people of her current relevance as opposed to thinking of her as more of a throwback.

She does perform some of the usual 90s hits, but she does tend to stick to 2000s ones like glue (especially the non-event that is "Shake it Off").
We're now less than three weeks until due date. When was that recent interview taped? Because surely, if the physical product is going to be issued May 6, they'd have to have a title by now.

Yes, it's "How Much". The registration # puts it around the same period as the rest of the Rainbow tracks.

I would like something classy and a sexy album cover as this. 'Next Chapter' is a good album title too!

Though given her mehness this era this is what we will probably get. I like when she is flawless I am sexy, but it comes of natural like her amazing Pinko ads. I don't think I have ever seen her look more amazing than she did in those ads.
