Well I just got a text from my source saying the album should be released on Thursday, April 30th at 12AM Eastern Time. The next single is a Hit Boy production reminiscent of his work on John Legend's last album. Really rhythm and melody heavy.

I think releasing it first digitally is smart especially if they are unsure whether a physical copy can be created by May 6th. Then, neither she nor her label would have to eat words, and everyone printing that the album is going to be delayed can eat crow. It makes her look better and those printing negative things about her look terrible. A #15 debut makes a chart queen look even more terrible. |

Someone very reliable on FOMM posted that there was no press release sent out and that there's no plan to drop the album earlier as a surprise. Oh Beysus Christ. |

Yeah, f*** a source or friend of a friend of a cousin's uncle twice removed. If I wanted rumor and speculation at this point, I would read OK! Magazine for information about this album.  The struggle is real, y'all! Over the next few days, nothing I read here would surprise me relating the album. Someone could say the album is scrapped, LOL. |

Yeah, which is precisely my point. I get that there is no news or random things being thrown out there but I don't believe it's in the best interest of posters to play the gleeful agent of chaos role. It doesn't add anything to the conversation. Instead, all it does is get people like me either hopeful or hopping mad.

I get the feeling that the album after this gets released will get a Memoirs-type rush release within the next 18 months OR she won't release another project for like 5+ years.

She won't take another 5 yrs to release another album. In 5 years she'll be 50. It will become harder and harder for her to stay on top. Remember that a) the general public are annoyed with her snob, diva attitudes which affects her music, b) she's no Madonna and c) she'll have to change a lot of things to stay relevant at 50 yrs old. |

Not sure she'll be up for this for a while, and she'll put out another collection of songs she's enjoyed recording and re-recording when the mood strikes her. Relevance isn't high on the priority list, though I still think success is--and that seems to be one of her bigger hurdles. |

Definitely no JD releases as that will kill all momentum! I would also think she would release the Stevie Wonder track to Adult Contemporary radios. Stick to uptempo and mid-tempo songs as singles unless she has a 'Say Something - Great Big World' kind of track but even then I'd be reluctant to release it. |

I've been thinking how similar the structure is between Katy Perry 'Dark Horse' and Mariah's 'Side Effect' track. Both have that southern rap feel to it and both catchy as hell. I wonder if she had released that song today if it would have been a big hit for her.

I'm hearing some more chatter as well about the album possibly coming before May 6th but definitely no later than May 6th. Mariah is not giving the label the satisfaction of "setting the album up" at all but she might as well since she hates the pressure and lack of control of it all.

I feel like at this point they've both reached a point where they just want the project out there even if it means throwing it on iTunes randomly. The project will probably be long dead by the time summer is over and will also probably be the end of her relationship with Island/Def Jam. If she goes somewhere else immediately, I'd expect them to rush her into putting out new material. They're not going to sign her and wait until she's 50 to put out a new album.
