While YDKWTD is a catchy, throwback, feel good song (and one of her best songs in a while obviously esp. after the last several lackluster/ under performing releases) I don't think it's a strong, single/pop radio friendly material. Really like the beat (basically I'm That Chicks 1st cousin) but the melody while catchy gets too repetitive and I can see it having a fast burn out rate. On Urban and def. Urban AC this has a shot, but not pop. She's put out or had other similar 'throwback/retro' sounding songs even on her recent albums. Yes, there have been retro songs that smashed in the past year but they had a contemporary pop radio friendly sound. This is pure '70s r&b disco. Even w/ that rap it doesn't make the overall sound of the song sound contemporary. I actually think Fantasy (even w/ its retro sound) would work better on pop today/19 years later! lol Again good song but looks like they're going to go all Beyonce when it comes to the 'official' single release(s) and possibly release numerous singles to different formats and see which one clicks and sticks w/ pop. As opposed to songs like Drunk In Love (it's chorus is one line repeated twice) or the mega-smash Happy (how many times is the title word repeated in the song)? And what about Ariana Grande's new song? Isn't that chorus one line repeated over and over? It's a lot less melodic than "YDKWTD." |

I'm quite disappointed at how little control Mariah had during her performances, especially during 'Baby', where she was all over the place.

I don't think the international release will be before the US. I mean it is her main market, she isn't going to risk that leaking to everyone beforehand. I think they will be after or on the same date despite whatever date she has advertised for other countries.

It was interesting what Mariah about the sequencing of the album in the interview yesterday and that she included interludes to make it a cohesive body of work. I wonder if she's added Justin-like interludes onto the end of some of the songs? Although none of the song timings suggest she did

From what I've heard Thirsty and You Don't Know What To Do can both be singles and Mariah needs to stay uptempo from here on out with this album. #Beautiful was also great and an unofficial lead single. I am going to pretend YM and TAOLG are album cuts ;) Mariah is coming to reclaim her thrown. 3/5 good songs is pretty good. The album should do well.
