Honestly, proud of her. A lot of these girls are so full of themselves and stubborn and don't know how to show respect. Ariana is a very sensitive person, so I'm sure her publicly switching her influences was purely a reaction to Mother not acknowledging her the way she felt she should. She didn't know how Mariah rolls and Mariah really did not know her. Now that they have worked together multiple times and she has spent time with Mariah, she has seen the error of her ways. We love growth!

Twenty eight years flew by I remember being a kid and listening to the album over and over on my walkman (!). My main memory of "ABMB" is being at some type of school dance and seeing two girls at school singing it and being excited lol. "ABMB" was such an organic hit too. It debuted on Hot 100 Airplay in very early 1996, so based on unsolicited play ("One Sweet Day" was only on its 11th week at #1 at that point so it was still very active). It also rose quickly, hitting the top 10 in airplay in its 5th week of charting. "OSD" was #2 in airplay that week, so again it was still very active. 1996 was such a great year for singles, too, with "Always Be My Baby," "Tha Crossroads," "It's All Coming Back to Me Now," "Nobody Knows," "Give Me One Reason," "You're Making Me High," "Missing," "Twisted," "I Love You Always Forever," "No Diggity," "Ironic," "Lady," "If It Makes You Happy," and more. |

Yes, but more so it's Spotify is now combining streams for the remix on the deluxe edition with streams for the solo version. So, that total at #1 is the total for both versions. If you go to the album you can see that the solo version and remix on the album have the same number of total streams, so those streams are not being separated. Its misleading because it is making Mariah seem like she has more monthly listeners and such than she really does. If someone listens to the remix on the actual single and not album, it still has its own total (as you noted, if you go to the single with that cover it has that total). (There was a period of time when Spotify also did this for the "Oh Santa" solo version and trio version, but this past season they were separated again.) |

The Roof is one of my favorite Mariah songs, but my GOD, what are those ad-libs before the bridge. I can't even describe the sound and I realize I must have been ignoring it all this time. I think it's because I am playing the Butterfly anniversary vinyl and it's so much sharper and clearer, so it stands out more. #LisaRinna, I know you hate Butterfly, but I wanna hear your thoughts on this, professor! On a more positive note, that first vinyl side that goes: 1. Honey (So So Def Remix) 2. My All/Stay A While (So So Def Remix) 3. The Roof (Mobb Deep Remix) 4. Breakdown (Mo Thugs Remix) is one of the best runs in the history of music. |

I really would love it if she visited this road again sound wise with an album just some very raw and organic R&B infused with a good hip hop balance. That really is a beautiful run as you describe, and I think it would be great to get that sound from her again. It really hit with her vocals too. She got there again a bit on MIAM with songs like Dedicated and Faded and again on Caution with songs like Giving Me Life and 8th Grade. |
