Y'all forgot/didn't know Rainblow already got the remastered treatment? My friend got the purple vinyl from Urban Outfitters. I just don't think any of us had that vinyl. It hadn't been remastered on streaming until this week, so we hadn't heard these versions. From my understanding “Rainbow’s End” is remixed, and the actual original version that was meant to be on Rainbow is still unreleased? I would really like to hear that to compare. This is something I forgot/didn't know. Where was it mentioned that it was a full song?

Was it ever confirmed that Rainbow was ever finished? I thought it was intended to be a full song, was never completed and so used as an interlude 🤔 I could be remembering that incorrectly though

If/when they give Rainbow its 4x platinum, she will then have EVERY album released in the 90s at 4x platinum or higher, yes? Nine albums if I’m counting right. Incredible.

Yup, but sadly the cert does not seem to be coming as they surely would have done it for this anniversary if they could. Something must really be amiss because between its Soundscan sales, music club sales, and streaming it definitely merits 4x platinum. With the new "Heartbreaker" certification Mariah now has 8 multiplatinum singles from the 1990s. I can't think of any other woman, and probably no other man, who can say that.

“Rainbow’s End” is even better than the new dance remix of “Portrait.” Her studio vocals on these remixes and features sound much healthier than they did on the Caution album.

No, she states clearly that the original was just an interlude because she never finished it, and this one is brand new.

The new vocals and beat below. This would have been a hit in 99 JERMASH SNAPPED.

Initial thoughts after listening to #Rainbow25:
1. Ex-Girlfriend either sounds like AI or re-recorded altogether. 2. Bliss still sounds heavenly. 3. Random that they tinkered with the Heartbreaker opener. It was fine as it was. 4. I wish they swapped the Heartbreaker remix with the uncensored version. I'm sure it exists. 5. Oh wow. They fixed the Franksteined/spliced vocals of the Against All Odds finale. The transitions sound seamless now! This version sounds crisper. 6. Crybaby probably wins the Most Improved award. It was always my favorite on the album, but I think, even then, I think I recognized that it sounded kinda...muddy. 7. OMG not sure if it's the Dolby Atmos but 98 Degrees pretty much got excised from TGIFY. RIP. 8. Rainbow's End is fine. I get why she included it for Pride Month, but...I think I prefer Portrait. 9. How Much remix indeed is better than the original, but I still don't care about it. 10. The jump scare when those Westlife vocals came in. That version of AAO was NOT needed. 11. I legit LOL'd at the solo version of TGIFY. Either AI or updated vocals, for sure. 12. There For Me remains a gem. Glad we got it officially. I hope it makes the vinyl. I'm assuming it will. 13. CTTA live was completely unnecessary.
Full disclosure: When I first heard the Napster leak (I remember it being MONTHS in advance of the album, LOL) when I was a sophomore in college and even once it was officially released on CD, I never really noticed the mastering issues that everyone talks about. Then again, I didn't really pay attention to that sort of stuff back then. That said, this version does sound brighter and...cleaner. Her vocal decline sounds a lot less noticeable.

Ivy Leegue™ Not too much on CTTA live cause she always slayed it back then. They finally gave AAO some much needed reverb. I love that song so freaking much!

"Thank God I Found You" is such a beautiful song. The gerls have always undervalued it.

They finally gave AAO some much needed reverb. I love that song so freaking much! Yup! Also "AAO" feels like a song she wrote at that time; singing to Derek that he was "the only one who really knew me at all." My favorite part, though, is "There's so much I need to say to you, so many reasons why." "Thank God I Found You" is such a beautiful song. The gerls have always undervalued it. The melody is gorgeous, though this new solo version is not it lol. Mariah did a new interview with Vogue for this anniversary. One question is about "Rainbows End" Mariah also denies the rumor of a duet with Lauryn Hill from back at that time. She also talks about the Rainbow tour footage.

I much prefer this higher quality sounding edition than the original tin can sounding Rainbow.
I think everything else is either vastly improved or comparable but they shouldn't have done NO CHANGES to Heartbreaker. You don't touch a classic and take out parts and subtle things I'm used to hearing.
The positive changes are TGIFY, X GF, Rainbow End, There for Me and How Much
Against All Odds and still remains the worst track.
Did I Do That was my former worst track and horrific but somehow this version I still hate it but not as much

So she remastered “Heartbreaker” and removed the whistle note and “We’re gonna do it like this” vocal from the intro. Why? These embellishments make the intro so fun. Thankfully the version on Greatest Hits on streaming is the original album version.

We've now gotten anniversary releases for Music Box, Merry Christmas, Butterfly, and Rainbow. 2025 could bring us anniversary releases for Mariah Carey (35 yikes), Daydream (30 wild), and/or The Emancipation of Mimi (20 crazy). I'd be most excited about the debut if we finally get some of the demo tracks. I'm not sure if there is anything from Daydream we don't already have since "Slipping Away" and "One Night" have been released, though if there's another Dave Hall song waiting in the vault I am in. We've also already gotten songs left off TEOM with "Sprung" and "Secret Love," but "When I Feel It" still hasn't had an official release. (Maybe she's saving Someone's Ugly Daughter for the Daydream anniversary and will give us that as disc 2?!?!)
Meanwhile lmao:
MC had walked 10 feet, so she was done!

Mariah Carey talks about her next studio album in a new interview with Vogue. “I’ve actually been working this whole week in the studio with someone who shall remain nameless, but I’m so excited about that. The next album is happening and coming soon, so be patient.” Now I seen this picture which makes me think she is working with Anderson Paak cause MC usually hangs around people she always known or people she is working with?!?!

The remix of "How Much" is a jam. I love it. I've always liked the original but this one is more enjoyable. "Rainbow's End" is very cool.

So true! The people who work with her seem to a like her lol so that absolutely counts for something! I find her to be nice and relatable in interviews, tbh. She has her “diva” ways but she never comes across as mean or bitchy, to me. I love the “Rainbow” deluxe edition. It has been such a joy to listen to. I really love this album. Not her best, but one of my faves. I always thought the quality of vocals on “after tonight” and “thank god I found you” sounded weird but I thought it was in my head. However, reading this thread I see that it was not just in my head.

It's really sad (yet predictable) that the tour footage was excluded from this celebration though. Rainbow Tour was a blast! I agree! That was the first concert I ever went to! I went to the Toronto concert that had to be postponed because she got food poisoning from oysters. She joked about it in the show. Great concert. I remembering “always be my baby” being a highlight.

I am excited about a new album. I do hope she gives it a proper era, and it doesn’t get lost in the Christmas shuffle. The Caution Era while great was also a mess too.

I am enjoying living in Rainbow 25 so much right now! It’s an album I think I always take for granted. Firstly, I love her tone and rasp during this era so much. I said to Albie the other day, Crybaby could not have been made in any other era. Her voice (vocal damage and all..) is perfection for me on this song. The rasp and even the cracks in some of her belts add so much emotion. While some of the songwriting and production isn’t her best , this album really is just a vibe and represents such a fun and formative part of my life. The new verse on Rainbow’s End is hilarious to me. Lyrically, the two halves make no sense together and only Mariah could smash them together and make it work 😂 The How Much remix is a great addition too - fine work from JD 👏 although I never realized how little Usher actually sings on this duet until this remix!

In a lot of ways Rainbow is the E=MC2 of the 1990s to me; they have a 'bright' quality to them and also feel more uptempo than maybe they actually are. For me it's mainly that one line about not kissing on the last goodbye, but if you see "Rainbow Interlude"/"Rainbows End" as a continuation of "Petals" I think it makes a lot more sense. Going back to "Heartbreaker" being 2x platinum and it being her eighth single from the 1990s to go multiplatinum, I figured I'd compare multiplatinum singles for the divas who debuted in the 1980s and 1990s: Mariah - 12 Whitney - 6 Celine - 3 Madonna - 2 (a few more should be certified multiplatinum though) Janet - 0 (maybe a couple would be eligible if applied for)
