Y’all gonna kill me but this is why I think Marc Shaiman or Walter Afanasieff would’ve taken this song to the next level adding a Phil Spector classic wall of sound. JD just doesn’t have it anymore. What contributes to the awkwardness is that we have a ten year old original version to compare it with. I almost think if they did a 3 way sleigh ride it would’ve been new and much better. It could’ve been all their new song together. Mariah’s tried with Oh Santa! heavily for the last ten years performing it on every special, every late night talk show and every Christmas concert and it hasn’t clicked, and it still won’t. JD is pure trash, Marc or Walter would’ve done well with this |

This is so cute, it does feel like it enhances the original (which I've always loved personally). My heart melted when I heard Mariah & Ariana's voices together; with all the comparisons over the years, how MC & Ari sound so similar, I was still shocked how complementary their voices are to one-another. Such a melodic, beautiful harmony... their whistling together, Ari's solo voice next to Mariah's... I was so captivated I almost didn't pay JHud any mind on my first listen. On subsequent listens I loved her part too, it's so full and booming and it does work with the other two. I kind of stan this "Oh Santa!" trio tbh.

I will say that Mariah knew what she was doing to get people to talk about this the key to it is the whistle harmonizing. All of my friends are sharing it on social media and talking about that moment.

Ari not being centered when they came together... lol. The whistle-ending saved it. Yeah that is def the best part. I knew not to expect much in general. “OS” just isn’t a good song, and J HUD was never going to fit in since she really only has 1 style of singing. |

Btw, the video reminded me a bit of the Madonna, Britney and Xtina moment. Xtina did her wailing and great stuff but all attention went to the kiss between M & B. Now Jhud excelled with her vocals but that whistle duet was MC’s kiss to AG

I liked the video but I have say, it made me a lil uncomfortable to see Mariah being touchy and lean towards Jen while Ariana was a bit further away and didn't get much eye contact either 👀 Mary J said no more drama. First of all why even look for that kind of thing? Regardless Mariah has met J HUD several times and knows her, so it makes sense she’d feel more comfortable interacting with her and such. Do you just starting touching people as soon as you meet them? |

I don't think Mariah was giving any intentional b*tchiness to Ari, if anything Ari was a little nervous and sort of fanning out especially after their harmonized silver bullet whistles.
I looooove Ari's reaction after the whistle moment, it was like the super fan that she has always been of Mariah was overcome with joy, amazement, and wonder! Ah, the Christmas spirit!

The ending is grand but the problem is that three powerhouse vocalists are on a song that is wordy and fast paced and requires talk-singing / chanting through most of it.

I'm not sure what people were expecting but I'm loving it! Ari really realized her dream duetting with the legend that she so hard idolizes. Her career is sprinkled with so many cute, lil moments so far and she can cherish this one too. The way her face beams after their shared whistle moment made me feel giddy as hell!  |

Could just be me, but the audio quality on Apple seems to be noticeably better than the music video's. I like it a lot more now.

I am honestly shocked that Mariah would let somebody else whistle on a song featuring her let alone with her. We all know Mariah likes to be a perfectionist and to let someone else do it with her is just astonishing to me.
Ariana living her dream since covering Emotions many years ago. I will admit that Jennifer sounds a little out of place but I feel she was a nice addition. This is definitely the kick the people need to get into the holiday spirit.
