I am honestly shocked that Mariah would let somebody else whistle on a song featuring her let alone with her. We all know Mariah likes to be a perfectionist and to let someone else do it with her is just astonishing to me. Ariana living her dream since covering Emotions many years ago. I will admit that Jennifer sounds a little out of place but I feel she was a nice addition. This is definitely the kick the people need to get into the holiday spirit. Early in her career, I could see her caring, but lately, she has been go with the flow/zero fucks given. She definitely seems more comfortable with herself and her legacy.

Iām listening to the full Sleigh Ride and THIS is the song the collab should have happened with. Much more catchy upbeat and recognizable and there are so many moments of silence in the song that lends itself to a collab of multiple voices.

Perhaps she's been deferential to Darlene Love, but I'm disappointed Mariah yet again didn't include "C(BPCH)." It's the holiday song of hers that gets the most streams and sales apart from "AIWFCIY," yet she hasn't performed it in any of her holiday specials. She doesn't have to go overboard with it and perform it all of the time, but I don't think performing it as part of a special would be disrespectful.

Personally from the Song Association, I wanted to hear her version of Holly Jolly Christmas.

I dgaf about the imperfections. That harmonized whistle at the end was Every.Thing. Real tears therefore a moment.

I agree, but Mariah keeps trying to make "Oh Santa" happen, presumably to show she didn't need Walter.

She needed Walter.
If this song doesnāt do well (currently it isnāt) then everyone can kiss another Ari collaboration goodbye as the only reason for it would be a business relationship to get a hit. If it canāt work here on Mariahās (Christmas) turf then the two of them will never be a hit together. Drake on the other hand....
I still say Sleigh Ride feat. Ariana Grande & Jennifer Hudson wouldāve been BIG

I can get that, but at least she's given it some love by performing it at that Grammy nominations show in 2008 not to mention on an annual basis at her own Christmas shows. "Miss You Most" HOWEVER was given the cold shoulder once more this year. But I'm gonna let it slide yet again...š

Well I think the odds of a duet were small anyway, but I don't think much should be judged by a holiday song. That isn't the same type of thing as a regular song/single.

The song is doing more than fine. I think people who were expecting it to become her 20th #1 were being completely unrealistic.

Iām not a fan of her voice on these latest Christmas offerings. It sounds strained, like she is developing some strange vocal habits, and her tone isnāt so pleasant. Am I just being overly critical? Sleigh Ride is fine because the production hides a lot of it.

But AIWFCIY changed that last year!

Then again I am positive Pete and stan for positivity and gratefulness, especially in a year like this.

Not really. Not when for the last two years everyone has been saying Ariana Grande & Mariah Carey would be an instant #1 Who has said that? Maybe you. And nobody expects that from a Christmas song. She could have slapped Drake, Billie Eyelash and Weeknd on this (or any other Christmas song) and it still wouldn't have gone to #1. Anyone expecting that isn't being realistic and I doubt any part of Mariah expects that either. This is simply a moment to create publicity and draw attention to her Christmas special, extend her legacy and get those extra Christmas coins. You continue to be delusional regarding her being a viable chart act. Mariah knows those days are over, she's playing the long game. If Mariah gets to number one again (outside of AIWFCIY, which is a major musical anomaly), it will more than likely be with her as a feature, not with any original song she puts out.

I guess we should put things in perspective. #1 wasn't really in the cards, but, it was not the craziest conversation topic. The collab is getting views, iTunes sales, Mariah's trending high, and all for a special on a subscription streaming service.
Mariah is the queen of Xmas.

I think at best maybe Top 10 at worst she will improve on its #100 position.

At the end of the day this collaboration will give "Oh Santa" more sales and streams than it ever had, and it extends Mariah's reach as the Queen of Christmas. To that end it will do its job.
But yes, anyone thinking it was going to #1 was delusional. Justin Bieber couldn't topple the standards with his "Mistletoe," Ariana didn't with "Santa Tell Me," etc.

Itās OK to enjoy things for what they are even if they donāt go to No. 1! This is a fun moment, itās getting a lot of attention and this plus the special was very well done. People seem to be enjoying it and itās a nice to see these three get together on a fun, upbeat song, especially in 2020. I was grinning ear to ear watching it and I suspect Iāll be watching the video a lot. Thatās good enough for me!

Since weāre not to concerned about chart performance then I will say I think Kelly Clarkson wouldāve been a more classic choice over Ariana. Ari sounded great but the chemistry between MC Kelly and JHud wouldāve been much better I think
Btw Kelly is doing extremely well with her Christmas project.
