A new perfume or Jack Russell puppy. LOL! I'm trying to think what kind of announcement this could be... Maybe she's starting her own label and going independent? I think it's obvious she hasn't been happy with Def Jam for some time now, and I found it weird how she was promoting a rival label's product the other day (she tweeted a link to purchase Whitney's new live album). Maybe more tour dates? Maybe a TV project? She did mention in some interview this year that she was working on a music related show for TV. I don't think it's about a new album, because I doubt she would hype it up this way... I think she'd post studio pics or something if she was officially starting work on a new record. The tweet says from her lips to our screens, which indicates tv. We'll see...

I had no clue Trey Songz was covering it. Thanks!

The tweet says from her lips to our screens, which indicates tv. We'll see... Personally I took that to mean it (the announcement) went from her lips to our computer/phone screens. and I found it weird how she was promoting a rival label's product the other day (she tweeted a link to purchase Whitney's new live album). Whitney was her friend, and their performance of "WYB" is on the DVD. Didn't Mariah even reference her performance in the tweet? I don't see that as weird at all.

From The Daily Telegraph:
Last night’s show was a reminder why Carey, armed with one of the best sets of tonsils in pop music, has won and kept so many fans — and why she remains the highest-selling female artist of all time.
The 44-year-old mined her catalogue of hits (she has 18 US No. 1 singles alone) and new material from her latest album, Me. I am Mariah ... The Elusive Chanteuse for a set list that showed off her five-octave range and surely put to rest recent suggestions she’s lost her magic touch.
SLAY THEM BITCHES QUEEN!!!! I'm so proud of her! Watching her performance last night of "Make It Happen", my gosh, her vocals are so clear and strong!!

For the third year in a row, Mariah will perform at NBC's annual Christmas in Rockefeller Center special. YAS!! I'm happy she's doing it, especially this year, because it's the 20th anniversary. I hope she goes on talk shows too. This milestone should be an extravaganza! Isn't it her fourth year in a row? Or maybe fourth in 5 years since MCIIY was in 2010. Did she do this special before then? It's her third year in a row because she didn't perform there in 2011. 2010: Christmas in Rockefeller Center: Oh Santa!2011: No Mariah Carey performance. 2012: Christmas in Rockefeller Center: Christmas Time Is in the Air Again & All I Want for Christmas Is You2013: Christmas in Rockefeller Center: Joy To The World & All I Want for Christmas Is You2014: Christmas in Rockefeller Center: TBA

I'd like a performance of One Child. I say this every year, but I was convinced that was an already well established Xmas carol I had somehow never heard. It sounds like it's been around for ages (and I mean that in the best way possible).

Oh no...not after Crave or MonarC or whatever the hell it was called. I did find my Allure CD the other day and was jamming so something good managed to come out of that vanity imprint.

I was worried when the initial press release for Rockefeller Center didn't mention Mimi as a performer. NBC's been doing this show for a number of years, so you'd think she would have performed prior to 2010.
There's still a good amount of songs between the two holiday albums she hasn't performed, so here's another opportunity to perform something in addition to AIWFCIY well, this and the NYC concerts, of course. :)
kmbgs- she did perform "One Child" in 2010, as part of Christmas in Washington, so I'd like to see a track she hasn't done as of yet. I wouldn't mind "Hark the Herald Angels Sing," one of my favorites from Merry Christmas. (I know she performed it on GMA in 1991, but that was before she recorded it. She also performed it during the Charmbracelet tour, but that wasn't televised or released.)

I'm into that being performed (although, honestly, she needs to perform BOTH at the Xmas concert!!)

She should perform Christmas (Baby Please Come Home), since it's her second most popular Christmas song, and she only has performed it once.
She has two Christmas songs charting on iTunes right now:
#112 All I Want For Christmas Is You
#759 Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)

I'm kinda ready for Trey Songz to serve a lil Toni Braxton mumble mess on his cover of "All I Want For Christmas Is You."

I know it's like maple syrup levels of schmaltzy, but I love it. That final "every other season comes along and I'm alright [sing to the heavens]" is among my favorite moments of her Christmas album.

I hope she performs it at her Christmas concert, at least. Did she ever sing that song live?

What if it's Mimi getting her own label and becoming a mogul nurturing new talent? Get your coins betch!! Having her own label has never worked out for her. She's had Crave and Monarc, right? Re: Rockefeller I'd be excited by most of the suggestions posted in this thread. I love "Miss You Most" and she's never performed it, so that would be sick. I'd be cool with "Hark!" as I love the big choir on it and, really, it wouldn't matter so much if her voice was off because it would be hidden. "Jesus Born on This Day" would be cool, too, and it's one that has been covered by some other artists so that might help it even more. Or what about a medley of "JBOTD" and "One Child?" They are similar thematically and both use a children's choir. I'm not sure how the actual music would flow; need to listen to the back-to-back.

Yeah, it wouldn't make sense for him to duet that song again when he just did it last year with the original artist. I'm sure he'll do his cover version by himself this time.

I would hope Ariana has better since than to try to sing this song, even if it's by her all-time favorite vocalist. Plus, no one would be here for a slurfest peppered with "Bae."

I was really hoping that the Sunday date added to the Christmas concerts was there to air live on network tv. I think that'd be really fun to see, plus excellent promo for next year's shows.

I am getting chills/emotional remembering watching her original Christmas special back in 1994 on the floor of my parent's bedroom with my sister, just being in AWE of Joy to the World. That number sticks out most to me. Is that s**t on Youtube? I need to watch NOW! I say this bc airing this special live is an EXCELLENT idea. It would be an event!!

But yes, it was St. John the Divine. I remember JTTW, and I think Jesus! Born on This Day (we sang that song at my grammar school's christmas concert that year, so I could be mixing memories too - I was in first grade haha). I also DISTINCTLY remember there being footage of her at home, bc she lived in Bedford then, not far from where I grew up in Westchester (so I was dying at the proximity lmao). Here is the epic JTTW performance. Ya'll haven't lived yet!!

I loved that performance always! I love the whole choir and mariah moments. The "feeeeel it" parts is just so #POW. the intro was like heaven, its like the gates opened and you were reborn. Almost like the intro u feel through out your whole body before sex.
she really worked it out.

You know that scrunchy and pony-tail are the reason Mariah will not let this concert see the light of day again
