Remember when we all discussed how MC should do a tour singing all of her #1s, and many doubted her ability to be able to sing half of them anymore?
I believe last night MC pulled out seats, fluffed some pillows, and beckoned for us all to perch our bosoms in the comfort of her glowing vocals. A bitch dun provided LIFE to us and I couldn't be prouder.

Her vocals last night were not great. But, reviews seem to be positive.

Aren't the videos posted for all of us to critique? But, you'll be getting a lot more opinion after I attend the show on Saturday. I think going in order of 1990-now was probably a good idea. The second half of the show is more fun and in her current range. Hopefully leaving the audience on a high note.

I'm surprised she opted to perform "Someday" so close to the album version in style when she opted for the unplugged version for the new compilation. I actually really like the live version they did. Maybe better than the album version.

2nd verse of "Fantasy" was definitely lipped, but overall, I'm liking the full show. I saw Britney back in August, and while the show was so much fun - it was like someone hit play. This shows she's still got the pipes.
Was kinda hoping for the "My All" slow-to-fast remix like she did on Diva's 98, but it's still nice to hear the song in full.

Right!! For someone who dislikes the song so much and hates singing it live, she killed it. Definitely a moment. And TGIFY! Wow! Another moment! That's one of my least favorite Mariah singles but this stripped down version is giving me life!

Loved hearing her sing Someday. Although I could have sworn I heard her say "You know I hate this" as the music starts playing lol.

I have always been a casual Mariah fan. Never LOVED her, but certainly never disliked her. This type of show seems to be the perfect thing to see her in for me. I was planning to do a short trip to Vegas with some friends to see her. I may wait it out a bit until she is further into her run though. I have heard very mixed reviews of the show and the NY Times review was pretty scathing. She has never been a very prolific touring artist, as she tends to do short tours in smaller venues (with the exception of Charmbracelet and Mimi tours) so she probably just needs some time to get more comfortable with the show and the audiences. But maybe in late June / early July I will go, or wait for the next set of dates. I would really like to see this do well for her, as maybe she can settle into a more permanent type of residency like Celine has done. That tour rakes in the money and keeps her in the public eye. (Even though she is on break right now)

My favorite performances were actually "Love Takes Time" ( :'( FINALLY! What a gem of a song this is in her catalog!), "I Don't Wanna Cry" (sounded like the best vocal of the night to me) and "Someday" (love the Prince-like arrangement). I just missed her singing those three so much, I can't stop watching them! But the whole concert was great and fitting of someone of Mariah's status in terms of its presentation and execution. Overall, I thought Mariah killed it, her Caesars debut couldn't be better.

Loving the performance clips! She can still sing well. There was some strain there, but she did very good for opening night! And we all know that the performances will actually get better the more she performs. I see she changed the arrangement for some of the songs. She was smart to do that.
I googled reviews and it appears that they NYT is the only one to write a scathing review. I started reading it but couldn't finish it. The reviewer spent the first two paragraphs talking about her vocal woes for past performances in the last few years before he even got to the event. And the reviewer made it seem like such a bad thing that she lowered the key of songs to sing them well. I just didn't finish that review. My ears are good and she sounds very good from the clips and twitter doesn't lie! The overwhelming positive buzz on twitter means she doing a good enough job. So i'll place my faith in reviews from twitter than the NYT.

Most of the reviews that have come in are positive so EDIT: Its funny cause another article was posted by the NYT as well, and it is positive.

Thanks for posting the audio link for the whole show. :)
She doesn't go for the highest notes like she used to in spots, and there are some strained parts, but it's been like that for a while with some of the older songs. I got chills with the "Love Takes Time"-"Someday"-"I Don't Wanna Cry" trilogy. Not surprised she cut the second verses for each, but good, nonetheless.
I skimmed the rest, but it sounds like a nice trip down ol' memory lane.
They best release this on DVD.

I am so happy for her. She's one of the few artists that can pull off a show like this.
All she really needed was to show the public that she could deliver on DAY ONE. She needed that positive press to sell tickets and I think she delivered.
Her patchy shaky parts will definitely improve - I'm sure there must have been some anxious jitters.
But just as the Xmas shows showed she can have a strong showing - this too shall be a highlight for her.

Now she just needs to nail her next high profile performance-Billboard Music Awards. I wonder if it will be a melody with Infinity at the end. Are the any big album releases the week of 5/17?

I read that NY Times review before seeing clips and I was expecting something like those first Asian dates, where it sounded like she straight up forgot how to sing. But the clips are good! Have the others reviews been positive?

Have the others reviews been positive? Yes, the vast majority of the reviews have been extremely positive! Even Twitter responded kindly to her opening night. So I say Fu** the NYT. If it was good enough for twitter then she did well cuz you know she would get dragged if her performances was less than good. Haters can drink their own piss!

She does have a shout out in one of these hits, after all.

Although I still love and defend the original...the new twist on TGIFY was a clever, cute idea.
Kylie's taken a similar approach with some of her more embarrassing/least favorite older hits ("I Should Be So Lucky", "The Loco-Motion") on tour - stripping them down and making them into something that she doesn't cringe performing. It's a nice compromise.

cjay- as a compilation in this day and age, I don't think anyone's expecting BIG debut sales, even with a little promo. If it sells 40,000, that would be pretty decent.,

If it sells 40,000, that would be pretty decent., Oh I'm certainly not expecting a big debut for her. My thought was 40-50k max. I was just trying to get a sense if this would be able to debut top 5. I'm not sure who else is releasing that week. That's all. On a side noteI'm not sure I'll be getting it myself because I already have #1s and both versions of TEOM and E=MC^2. I even purchased individual singles and I'm about to drop some dough for her Vegas show. That's enough. I got bills and vacations to pay for, lol!

^I think top 5 is a good possibility- per HITS (not sure of the accuracy), Jamie Foxx is releasing an album. And a Brantley Gilbert one is listed- I think that's a platinum edition of his studio album that was released last year.

That would be interesting if it peaked at #4 like the original verison of "#1's" did.
I listened to the full audio. I actually think my favorite part waws the TGIFY because it was so different and she sounded more free. I also enjoyed how it went into WBT.

I am definitely buying a physical copy of this! I hope it comes in a traditional cd case, unlike that shitty case for MOAIM. I am still mad at her for that bullshit.
