Someone just mentioned I wonder if she will do "Infinity" in with a medley at the BBMA's.
I kind of was hoping for just "Infinity".
However I could see her doing almost the same Idol mix and just skip out "Make It Happen and Beautiful" and add in a num.1 and "Infinity" instead.
I hope not though.

I'm listening to the audio now, she sounds so great! Not flawless but damn great! It's so great to hear her singing those oldies like "Love Takes Time" and "Someday" again. :)
Can someone educate me on why she hates IDWC so much? It's such a beautiful song!

I'm really liking the clips I'm hearing so far. The vocals are solid, and while she can't hit or hold some notes the way she used to, her lower-middle range is still very good, and she still has the golden tone.
I'm pleasantly surprised at how good "I Don't Wanna Cry" sounded. I thought that'd be one of the harder songs for Mariah to sing, but it sounded great!

Love seeing all these great reviews of her greatness everywhere. LEGACY being enhanced even further with this Vegas stint and unlike Idol this is a great idea that is paying off! Idol was a good idea on paper and I give her a pass for that decision. It pisses me off most of the time when I think about it because she got so bamboozled by Idol's then-producers. I'm sure the reason she signed on was to establish what this Vegas show is doing for her now - it was supposed to be a move into the 'legacy' part of her career, in one location so she could feel more 'settled,' and I think initially people welcomed the idea of her on the panel for this reason. If things had been the way Mariah expected them to be, which was a three person panel with her as the only female, this would have gone over well. She certainly wouldn't have been any less well-received than J. Lo before her, who basically was and is the sober Paula. Mariah was actually serving legit advice to people while still being nice AND gave us some great gif sets, all the things Idol viewers wanted in a post-Cowell Idol world. But the show added Nicki for controversy and trying to bring in a different crowd of viewers and made Mariah look stupid by not cluing her in. For some reason they thought they needed their dueling divas to actually dislike each other. I think Mariah would have been okay with the pretense of a battle of egos if she'd just known (and possibly had a say in who the other person was, because I suspect she would have vouched for someone other than Nicki if she could lol) because she would have wanted it to be really lighthearted and fun. But as it stood, Nicki clearly wasn't lighthearted about it at all, and what should have appeared as Mariah being lighthearted and whimsical came off as dismissive and merely tolerating Nicki's presence. Also Mariah was the only judge on that panel who really vetted for the eventual winner from that season which stood out to me because it was obvious that the other three were parroting given lines from head honchos behind the scenes, and Mariah was like FUCK YOU ALL, I'm Mariah and I'll back whoever I want because I thought this was an actual competition and not a predetermined dog and pony show. She would even call the producers out on air sometimes like 'yeah, the producers are in my ear to say this, but...[says a Mariah thing]." So I think that also was a lowkey problem because on the one hand, Mariah was the 'right' one, but on the other hand, not reading off the script the other judges were given made her stick out like a sore thumb even more, and likely didn't endear her to the suits in charge. |
