^Ahhhh hehehe. So, let me get a hold of this: her show and the Billboard Awards would be starting around the same time? Then she would be performing at the BMA later in the program. This is why I put everything in EST, lordt! BMAs start at 8pm EST. Mariah's Vegas show starts at 8pm (more like 8:15 knowing her) Vegas time, which is 11pm EST. The time different allows for her to perform at the BMAs at a reasonable time and still have time to get to her show and prep.

Oops- I was gettin' all sorts of confused with the BMA telecast time vs. actual time in Vegas. By golly, I think I got it. Muchas gracias. :)

I love the description of the "Honey" hook being "sinuous," and I love the way they say Mariah's music had become such a combination of pop and urban that you couldn't distinguish them. I don't think some people get that it's about more than just having a rapper paired with a singer, but EW gets it.

I work in a high school and ran a trivia game for the students. Each round covered a different decade, and I played songs from each decade during the rounds. When I played "Always Be My Baby" during the '90s round, every student was singing along. When I asked "What singer had a #1 single every year of the decade?" no one got it. One student answered Cher. Lol! The most common answer was Michael Jackson.

Over the years, my choice between favorite single of hers has fluctuated between Honey and Always Be My Baby.

Over the years, my choice between favorite single of hers has fluctuated between Honey and Always Be My Baby. I can see that because those are possibly her two best melodies among her singles (definitely top 5), if not overall.

Vision of Love, My All, TGIFY, DFAU were her best moments. Seriously, find the TGIFY from tonight. My All was best I've ever heard her do live in person.

Last fall Complex did a list of the Top 50 R&B Songs of the '90s and Mariah placed 3 songs - "Honey" at #30, "Always Be My Baby" at #12, and "Fantasy" at #6. You can see the full top 50 with descriptions here: www.complex.com/music/50-best-r-b-songs-90s/

Also, she sounded epic on Touch My Body.
She lipped Infinity three times to record the video. Said she hopes its done and out in a week.

Trey called her Slayriah on stage. IIs he reading Pulse??
Another great part was the DJ/drummer before Dreamlover. He was incredible. Played in like an orb or something.
There were definitely rough vocals and about 4 lipped songs. But the audience was super nuts. For real crazy. So it didn't really matter. The audience also went berserk when DFAU started. More than any other song I'd say. That was weird.
Someday was fun cause it was Mariah and her male dancers. Then "young Mariah" was onstage with little boy dancers. Just like the video.
It wasn't sold out. Probably about 90% capacity.

Can't wait to see her on the 24th!

A performance video like "100%"? Wasn't there a quote that she'd be seen in "dangerous" positions, or something to that effect? (though with her shoulder, I don't think they'd be *too* dangerous). She did say they filmed something, I think, so maybe those shots will alternate with the performance shots.

Its not gonna be a "live performance" type of music video. There's already those clips inside a house and she was filming yesterday outside in Las Vegas street. So the performance will be just for a part of it.

I don't know. She said it will be her first performance video since Hero. (No lambs wanted to correct her on that one, I guess). I think the previous footage shot was just for Vegas advertising. They play small clips of Infinity outside of Caesars and show that previous "video" that was shot.

Honestly, her voice was really rough on some songs. But, some other live songs it was nearly flawless. Maybe it's just a certain key that bothers her vocal chords.
I was shocked at how good she did on Vision of Love.
She had no shade for IDWC, though. Talked about going in to write it with Narada and how nervous she was. Said the studio made her write Love Takes Time because the needed a "pop" ballad. (Some shade there, I think)
I hope there are videos of TGIFY and Touch My Body. They surprised me the most, I'd say.

I could see the video being like an ad for the Vegas show; Mariah prepping, arriving, performing. All of the clips we know about fit that concept.
Funny she said that about "LTT" since we also know she and Walter were writing it for her next album, thus the last minute addition of "LTT" to the debut. It seems odd Sony was already telling her what to do for the next album when the first hadn't been released. Of course, if she thinks "Hero" was her last performance video...

Damn. This rendition of TGIFY is pretty haunting at parts, especially when she sings "my every wish and every dream some how became reality".
Props to Mariah for being able to sing all these songs following her breakup, having to sing these lyrics and think about a recent breakup would have me crying on that stage. She's a strong person.

That is why I respect her so much. From what I have gathered from interviews, Mariah aside from aspects of her career, some moments growing up, and her children hasn't had a lot to be happy about in general. Yet, she finds away to soldier through it all. I think if a lot of people took the time to assess Mariah's life as a whole, then they might understand her behavior at times. I think being positive, outlandish and humorous is just her way of getting through it all. There are a lot of people who don't survive their upbringing to make something of themselves, and she did. In a way, I think "Breakdown" fits her well..."but in reality I'm slowly losing my mind, underneath disguise of a smile, gradually I'm dying inside...." I think she hides her pain well which isn't healthy, and it manifests itself in awkward ways or bad decisions at times, but she does what she has to do to make it work.
