What a career, she's coming up on ten years in the game, right? I see a greatest hits collection immediately following the forthcoming era. Only problem is she has too many hits. Yeah, that would be a perfect timing for a GH, especially if she decides to have a child. I think having too many hits is a good problem. I think it's weird when a Greatest Hits contains every hit because the point is "Greatest."

Unbelievable to think Carrie has been in the business almost 10 years. Man, what a gift she is <3

Catching up on the Different Drum and other live videos posted recently-God, she sounds so amazing. Just an effortless, great vocalist. I am so happy she succeeded on Idol, but I am starting to think she would have found success in another way. It was meant to be.

What I mean is, her Idol performances are nothing like the performances she started giving even within a year of winning. Imagine her being on the show and giving us stuff like that "Different Drum" performance, "Walk This Way," and "How Great Thou Art."

I agree, and I think winning Idol and just being able to do her own thing and have such a solid support system/fanbase helped her start blossoming pretty early. Looking back now, Carrie seemed like the quiet chameleon back in 2005-2006; she took every bit of criticism and praise, and used it to her advantage. She always had the talent, but she needed to build up her confidence/stage presence to become great. I'm actually glad Carrie is a completely different artist now; watching her journey unfold has been amazing, and clearly it doesn't happen often. Truthfully, I think that 's the major difference between Carrie and every other talent show contestant who has a great voice, but manages to go nowhere. Carrie knew she had an opportunity, worked for it, built a great team, and managed to stay true to herself, and make the music she wanted to. You can have all the talent in the world, but you've got to have guts, heart, and a hunger inside you. Thank God Carrie had what it took; the industry needs her,

She is one of a kind. I mean, who can sing country, rock out with Stephen Tyler and Heart, duet with Tony Bennett, Willie Nelson, Sing the songs of The Sound Of Music, pay tribute to Linda Rondstat by singing her music like if it was written for her, and yodel while bouncing up and down on a bed. I mean, really. Yea really.

There is nobody like Carrie in the mainstream music industry, period. It is a crying shame that her own genre doesn't treat her like the legend-in-the-making that she is. She is by far one of the most talented acts we've been introduced to in the last decade, if not the most. Carrie Underwood will go down in history. It may take 30 years, but it will happen. We don't come across a phenomen like that often. We are all very blessed to have been exposed to such.

While I agree that Carrie could (and should) be recognized better by the country community via award shows, it's not like she gets completely ignored. She's won 11 ACMs (almost half of the 23 she's been nominated for) and 5 CMAs in her career, including 6 Female Vocalist of the Year trophies and 2 Entertainer of the Year trophies. Although she hasn't won a CMA since 2008, she's received plenty of nominations including Album of the Year for Blown Away, Play On and Carnival Ride. She's won 6 Grammys (in addition to 3 Best Country Song awards for "Jesus, Take the Wheel," "Before He Cheats" and "Blown Away"). 2014 actually marks the very first year of her career that she hasn't had a Grammy nomination, which proves her dominance at that show. Just this year, she won the CRS Humanitarian Award and the ACM Gene Weed Special Achievement Award. These aren't accomplishments to scoff at. Award shows are extremely political, and it's obvious to everyone that there is a certain group controlling most of the voting at shows like the ACMs and CMAs, but that doesn't mean Carrie isn't respected by her peers. Miranda Lambert, Brad Paisley, Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Randy Travis, Blake Shelton, Kellie Pickler, Kenny Chesney, Little Big Town, and The Band Perry are just a few country artists who have shown a great deal of appreciation, admiration and respect towards Carrie.
All in all, Carrie has been very well awarded and recognized throughout her career, with over 120 awards (according to Wikipedia, which is likely missing some).
I am a huge Carrie fan and I completely understand the frustration behind her lack of award show recognition, particularly in the EOTY category, over the past few years. But Carrie is not the black sheep of the country music community like so many people seem to be positioning her as. Her career is absolutely thriving right now, and trust me, it's not going unnoticed, despite what you may believe based on award shows.

We don't come across a phenomen like that often. We are all very blessed to have been exposed to such. Carrie is the first female to come along in Country since Reba (Who started her top 10 streak in 1980) that will be a "decades" artist who will probably be around having hits in 3 decades (00s, 10s, 20s). As long as she does what Reba did by changing with the times while staying true to herself, she can have hits easily through the 2020s at least! Reba's sales are 50 Million and Carrie will outsell her one day. Reba's final #1 hit was when she was 55 years old in 2010, so Carrie could easily match that if the industry lets her. Another comparison, Reba's biggest hits were in the 1990s but she won all her major CMAs in the 1980s closer to her start, just like Carrie did. The ACMs did reward Reba in the early to mid 90s though.

Absolutely hated that she sang Good Girl at the gala! The song didn't match the event, audience or even her outfit. Not sure if she performed anything else, but boy was Good Girl a major mistake, out of all of her catalog.

Dear lord, it's not like she had to get up there and perform the slowest ballads in her catalog. She was the closer of the show, A, and B, it's not like this gala was the same thing as the Salute the Troops event from earlier on this month. She sang some of her biggest hits, got the crowd going, and by the end of her set (when she sang BHC), she had people dancing and having a good time.

I don't see how it was a mistake or a bad choice at all.

As on honored guest and the headliner for an audience that may not be consistent followers of her music she sang some of her big and also some of her more recent hits. This, to me, seemed to be the appropriate thing to do. She received a well deserved standing ovation from the appreciative audience.

The performers for this event always sing their hits. GG was a big hit so it doesn't surprise me any that she sang it. This event isn't a stiff Black and White event. It's a party of sorts. You can search youtube videos of Bruno Mars and other artists that have performed for the Gala and they are singing uptempo hits.

Us Weekly: "I've been writing quite a bit, it's exciting!" Underwood told Us of her upcoming fifth studio album. "It definitely has a different sound. There are some thematic things that are quite different. I love strong women. So I want things that I can get on stage and just feel empowered."

Dolly was my first favorite singer so I would love this! Another is Reba, those 2 would be great! Carrie is the "new Reba" in many ways so seeing those 2 together would make my life!

I agree on two fronts: I saw Carrie Underwood and Dolly Parton sing I Will Always Love You. Can you say that sounded angelic or not? Second, I would not mind an Underwood/Reba McEntire reading of Does He Love You. Can you imagine how that one would sound?

I'd love a new song with just as much power between the two. Reba's "Duets" album was fabulous so if she ever did a "Duets 2" then Carrie is a must!

Carrie sounds so confident, polished, and effortless these days.
She's well-deserving of that Time placing, and it seems like the honors/praise are endless.
Proud of her, she's come so far.

Today is the 2nd birthday of "Blown Away"! I'm surprised no one mentioned it! Wow, time FLEW. While not my favorite Carrie album, BA gave us some of her best vocals/songs to date. Can't wait to see what the next chapter holds. Carrie is so proud of this album, and her effort really showed. I truly think we're in for one GREAT future from her.

Even though she's not winning Country awards anymore, her camp is doing a shit ton to bring her just as much -- if not, more -- recognition outside of the genre and its political debacles. A ranking on the 2014 TIME 100 Most Influential People in the World in the Icons section, alongside Robert Redford and even Pope Francis (+ the headlining slot at the gala), Grammys, TSOM, a performance on the Emmys, Sunday Night Football theme, Billboard Milestone Award, the ACM Gene Weed Special Achievement Award (note that this is a separate ACM voting committee that has no affiliation with the Music Row shit at the regular awards shows), etc.
I really couldn't care less if she never won a single CMA or ACM ever again, honestly. Keep the Grammys coming and everyone else in the genre will always remain inferior.
