I like both new songs. I wish she would stop writing in cliches and generalities though. Be concrete and flesh it out. Her voice sounds rested.
As I Am Diary Element of Freedom Girl On Fire Songs In A Minor
She has a great discography. I'm surprised Clive hasn't pushed for a Greatest Hits from her. I believe that would be my exact ranking as well.

Songs In A Minor last?! It's her best or second best album IMO. I mean Fallin', A Woman's Worth, Girfriend, Never Felt This Way/Butterflyz alone >>>. But all her albums are good. Even GOF has some amazing songs.

I love all her albums but for me it's: Diary > Element > As I Am > Songs in A Minor > Girl on Fire

Mine would probably be. Diary > As I Am > Songs In A Minor > Element > Girl On Fire

No ranking for me. I can't do it. She has managed to make five "strong" yet different albums which each one can be my favorite depending on the feel that I want from her. Her, Sade and Maxwell do that to me so I'll be fooling myself to do a ranking. I would say her most cohesive album is "As I Am" though (with EOF being a close second)

In order from greatest to least, rank the albums by... A) repeat value (you can play it over and over again without tiring of it) B) amount of songs you like on each album C) sentimental value (album attached to certain emotions or time in your life)

A) repeat value (you can play it over and over again without tiring of it) B) amount of songs you like on each album C) sentimental value (album attached to certain emotions or time in your life) Each album has had high repeat value for me. I think I played Song in A Minor two years straight and the others follow the same pattern once they were released. The only song I dislike of hers will be "Put It In the Garage". I would say SIAM was the album that I was becoming of age so it means a lot to me because I struggled with speaking/pronouncing words, which I started singing her songs on that album to speak properly. "As I Am" was my college album where I was experiencing isolation from others because I felt like an outcast as I was one of the few "people of color" in the school so the title was fitting in me not wanting to change myself for the sake of friends. It is challenge to rank them, but I would say those two really had their moments with me. I also think "Diary of Alicia" is her only album that has that "classic" feel. It is just so damn sophisticated for a woman of her age at the time to master such a brilliance piece of work. Fun fact: I know the lyrics to all of her album (even for the "one" I hate) and I could basically sing any of her songs off the top of my head lol

Thanks for sharing all of that. I have that same relationship with certain albums and music, they remind me of where I was spiritually, mentally, and emotionally at the time. The Element Of Freedom came at a perfect time and it helped me through a lot of frustration and sadness. I rediscovered As I Am in 2013 and songs like "Go Ahead", "Tell You Something", and "Lesson Learned" got me through dating issues and unhappiness with my job at the time. :)

"Somewhere in the City" is cute, but I'm glad it didn't make the album. I do like that she is giving us music before the album drops. She is staying visible, which is good.

"Lover Man" should have been a single after "Unthinkable", imo.
