I hate when people brag, just drop it and let it speak for itself cause if your declaration aren't the people's expectation who really cares?

I'd love "next level" stuff from Alicia but truthfully I have a tough time picturing it. What I can picture is a bunch of material similar to John Legend's "All Of Me" for some reason, like piano driven pop-R&B schlock that would have been labeled "adult contemporary" if it were the 90's still. Not that Alicia was ever known for having edge but there's a noticeable difference between her mid 00's material and "Girl On Fire." She needs her quasi-edge back because she seems so off the map at this point.

I'd say go back to basics. Girlfriend was the shit.

While I would ultimately prefer she go back to making neo soul-esque music, if she delivers an album of songs like One Thing, When Its All Over, Listen To Your Heart, Fire We Make + the highlights from EOF, that could actually create her strongest body of work.
Girl on Fire had some filler but some of those tracks WERE next level.

I loved "Fire We Make," "When It's All Over," and "Listen To Your Heart". I don't think any of her albums have been bad. The last album veered a little too far into adult contemporary pop for my liking though. I loved the album at first, but half the album hasn't really held up for me at all. That said, I usually love half of the songs on her albums and could live without the rest. I just hope they have a better strategy for pushing her at Urban this time around, because she's going on almost 4 years since her last major hit there.

"Know Who You Are" is a great direction for her; however, I need her to give me straight up R&B. Hell I will take an album of "Fire We Make" before another "Girl on Fire (single)". She may surprised us though. No more inspirational sh!t because we get it, Alicia. "You're freeeeddddd!!!!" as a slave.
Anyway, I want another Drake and 40 collaboration. Also no more winter releases, give me something for the summer please.

Element of Freedom was her best record. Before that her best was Diary of AK.

More Maya Angelou-ish stuff coming upon us? I pray that she's over and done with that. None of her albums sound the same and it's time for her to start taking risks and deliver something grittier.

I'm here for that sound. I guess she'll release it in October/November as usual.

I'll take being in the minority because...I am one, LOL. But, Pharreal, Girl On Fire is my favorite Alicia album and I stand behind that. I don't remember her debut besides Girlfriend and Fallin'. DOAK: I loved it when it came out but haven't revisited it since and outside of the title track, Heartburn, and Karma, I don't remember the album. I do remember the songs translating well live when I saw her with Missy and Beyonce. Oh whoops...I was ready to dive into TEOM but I forgot about I Am entirely. Well...that has Like You'll Never See Me Again, which is probably my favorite Alicia song ever...plus, I loved Tell You Somethin' and Lessons Learned. Also up there with my favorite Alicia songs of all time. TEOM was the first Alicia album that really touched my soul. Doesn't Mean Anything is one of my favorite Alicia songs, period. I don't care how well it did or didn't do. Of course, Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart was better, but yeah. Then, GoF came along. I legit love every song on the album but...101, One Thing, When It's All Over, and Fire We Make are straight up masterpieces. I am a huge fan of Alicia as an artist, entertainer, and as a being, in general. I am very excited for what's next and I doubt I will be disappointed. I haven't been yet.

I was listening to Girl on Fire earlier. Say what you want but "Limitedless" was a hit in the making (it needed a hot breakdown though or a reggae artist on it). I honestly can't believe how all of the snooze songs (sans Fire We Make) made it as single. She could easily lead it off with WIOA or LTYH with a nice featuring as remix. She had "Limitedless" and then "One Thing". Once she was three singles in, she could have threw anything out there. The mistakes ugh!

It's ironic that all the singles (except Fire We Make) are my least favourite songs on the album. Rest of the album is great, but I'm not sure if she could have a hit though...WIAO yes, but nothing else really. For me this album was 3/4 done...She should've focused more on making some rnb killer singles not on some pop anthems shit, then album would've been perfect. The same problem she had with TEOF, while TSWABH, ESOM, Un-thinakble were awesome, DMA and PIALS were terrible and album had some fillers too. But she's one of my favourite artists ever and I'm always looking forward to her new projects.

Alicia gets the 1st single from the Amazing Spider Man 2 Soundtrack! It's On Again Produced by Pharrell and Featuring Kendrick Lamar with additional writing from Hans Zimmer. Also, it's an uptempo and is featured at the end of the movie so.....Oscar eligible. God is speaking to us children. He's listening.

I haven't felt any Alicia Keys album since As I Am, and even that I thought was not as good as her first two.

I think As I Am is solid, but nothing beats songs like "Fallin'," "If I Ain't Got You," "Diary," "Heartburn," etc. I only like a couple songs on Element of Freedom.

Well, imo, with her recent outputs on soundtracks ("Queen of the Field" from 12 Years as a Slave), she has been back to her sound in the SIAM and Diary eras. We may see more of that.

The Diary of Alicia Keys is one of my favorite albums ever and I really think the music of that era was a headspace/moment in time kind of thing. I don't know if she'll ever be able to get back to that, but if she could make an album as solid as The Element of Freedom I'd be stoked.

I definitely can see why people love Diary but it was too neo-soul/sleepy for me.

GOF was so BOOOORING and uninspired for the most part. The first album by her I refused to buy and her weakest since her debut. I really need her to get some edge back, because she is too young to be that damn boring.
