I'd actually recommend The Diary Of Alicia Keys to listen to first, because it has a much more fleshed out sound in comparison to her debut, but still showcases her neo-soul roots upfront. The subsequent albums have more experimentation with those roots.
If I had to rank her albums personally, they'd probably go:
1. As I Am 2. Diary 3. Girl On Fire 4. The Element Of Freedom 5. Songs In A Minor
Her unplugged set is good too.

My cousin wants a "Greatest Hits" of Alicia Keys for her birthday, so I was gonna make one for her. My problem though, is trying to narrow it down to fit a 80 min one disc. The #1 song requested by my cousin to be on it is "You Don't Know My Name," so I'll be keeping that 6:06 album edit. Any help on a tracklisting? I was considering including her new single "We Are Here" but I'm not sure if they'll be room, in addition to choosing the "Empire State of Mind (Broken Down)" version over the Jay-Z one to just keep the flow of R&B music (I'll be excluding "Gangsta Lovin" as well). No One Karma A Woman's Worth We Are Here Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart You Don't Know My Name Like You'll Never See Me Again How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore Teenage Love Affair Diary Unbreakable My Boo Fire We Make Unthinkable (I'm Ready) Fallin' Empire State Of Mind (Broken Down) Girl On Fire I exclude "Brand New Me", "Superwoman" and "Doesn't Mean Anything", because Alicia's singles are mostly ballads and these three would only drag the flow down. I would love to add some of my personal favorites like "Lesson Learned", "Go Ahead", "Troubles", "Love Is Blind", "Pray For Forgiveness", and "When It's All Over", but it's only 80 minutes and a greatest hits.

Her Unplugged album is really good. But I CANNOT get on board with "Unbreakable." Ugh at the lyrics. She lost me with the first line about fighting like Ike and Tina... uhhhhh... NO.

She's a co-writer on What I Did for Love feat. Emeli Sandé from David Guetta's new album.

The Diary of Alicia Keys & As I Am are her best albums imo.
I actually had an odd craving for TDOAK today. Listening atm. It never gets old.

Alicia just released a new track, "We Gotta Pray" on her Instagram.
It is great, maybe it has a lot to do with me being an emotional wreck from the things that have occurring in the country with our black males, but it is touching. So much better than "We Are Here" and the sound is what I expected than the former.

"We Gotta Pray" is definitely way better than "We Are Here". Has a little bit of a Nina Simone vibe.

Did she say anything new about the album? No...anything new. She said she has to deliver the baby first...and then the album. Btw the sound engineer that works with her said that Alicia wrote We Gotta Pray 3 years ago when there was rioting in England.

I love how she's kicking off this new era! "We Are Here" & "We Gotta Pray" are very outstanding records. Loving the lyrical maturity/growth.

We Gotta Pray is beautiful but I still want more than those types of records from her. Still kudos to her for being a ray of #positive light.
Am I the only one ready for her to have long hair again? She looks hot as hell in that editorial posted upthread but it feels like she's had that short cut for soooo long.

She said she loves short hair (it's easier to manage), so i don't think she will grow her hair back anytime soon. Btw i hope she will rock the braids again with the new era. I like both new songs. I wish she would stop writing in cliches and generalities though. Be concrete and flesh it out. Her voice sounds rested.
As I Am Diary Element of Freedom Girl On Fire Songs In A Minor
She has a great discography. I'm surprised Clive hasn't pushed for a Greatest Hits from her.
