redseagulls, Jonas Brothers also debuted at #11 and fell off the Hot 100 after 1 week on 8/23/08 with "A Little Bit Longer" (Erroneously not listed in the Wikipedia article) Yes, I clearly remember that that was the record-holder at the time.

^ it already did kinda when Harlem Shake was #1 Not exactly, whether we want to admit it or not, Harlem Shake was huge. It was even at #1 on iTunes for a few days as well. WMBDBT wasn't popular at all, it was just the background noise to a viral video. Sure, maybe top 10 for HS, but certainly not #1 for 5 weeks...it wasn't THAT popular, it was mostly just the dance that was popular.

The Soko song was heard by a lot of people for one week, therefore it should chart. It is not surprising that it did not chart in week 2 but the charts that we follow only cover 7 days anyway.
Harlem Shake may not have been a big thing to people here but that too was huge for the music population/youtube viewers as a whole. That song was heard by a lot of people during that time. Regardless of how it happened, people still heard it.

Doesn't mean they liked it more than the other songs in the equation at the time (in fact it is extremely unlikely that they actually did like it more than the most popular song at the time).

When you are driving in your car listening to the radio, you probably like some songs more than others and you may listen to a song pretty much becuase that is being played at that moment.
Is there a way to measure individual listener enjoyment of a song other that the simple fact that it was heard?
If there is, then I agree, that would be an improvement

Very true- there are songs I'm not particularly crazy about, or am indifferent to, but don't turn the station when they're on.

I just realized that as of this week Happy is the longest running number 1 so far this year...

So what song will be the next number one after Happy? The closest of course is John Legend, "All of Me." It might sneak in for a number one. If not then I think Justin Timberlake's Not a Bad Thing is coming on strong. Less likely I think is Jason Derulo's "Talk Dirty". Or maybe some unexpected song like Naughty Boy's featuring Sam Smith's "La La La" since Smith will be on SNL which might boost his profile.

While its tempting to say All of Me will be next, there is still 90M AI and 150k in sales between the two songs. Then again, there don't appear to be any other songs really exploding right now, so it could happen...

All of Me has stalled in sales and its not gaining enough airplay yet for it to be a credible threat to Happy right now. It's a pussycat dollas type situation. so close but so far away from #1.

I considered it, but it probably won't be able to (as much as I love the song). Its gaining airplay at a very slow pace, and if radio does finally get on board with this song its airplay peak won't coincide with its sales and streaming peak.

Just noticed that Shakira and Blake Shelton are right next to each other at #35 and 34! The Voice coach's songs gotta stick together.

www.billboard.com/biz/articles/news/chart-alert/6028961/chart-moves-justin-timberlakes-bad-bounds-up-hot-100-dierksChart Moves: Justin Timberlake's 'Bad' Bounds Up Hot 100; Dierks Bentley Crowns Country Airplay; Enrique Iglesias Extends Latin Airplay Record With New No. 1 By Gary Trust, New York | March 28, 2014 -- Passenger: More than a year after first becoming a No. 1 smash in multiple European countries, "Let Her Go" lifts 2-1 on Adult Contemporary. The ballad previously topped Hot Rock Songs for five weeks, Triple A for four and Adult Top 40 for two. It reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 (this week descending 17-18) and has sold 3.5 million downloads, according to Nielsen SoundScan. -- Justin Timberlake: "Not a Bad Thing" enters the Hot 100's top 40 (42-27). It surges 29-17 on Digital Songs (62,000, up 59%) and 40-23 on Radio Songs (41 million all-format audience impressions, up 36%, according to Nielsen BDS). On the Mainstream Top 40 airplay chart, it zips 20-15. With its Hot 100 jump, the pure-pop "Thing" passes the peaks of the first two R&B-flavored singles from Timberlake's album "The 20/20 Experience – 2 of 2": "Take Back the Night" reached No. 29 in September and "TKO" peaked at No. 36 in December. "Thing" is Timberlake's 24th top 40 Hot 100 hit. He tallied another 10 with 'N Sync in 1998-2002. Related Articles -- Shakira, Rihanna: Rihanna grabs her 22nd No. 1 on Dance Club Songs, as Shakira's "Can't Remember to Forget You," featuring Rihanna, lifts 2-1. Dating to the chart's Aug. 28, 1976, inception as a national survey, Rihanna trails only Madonna, the leader with 43 No. 1s. "Forget" marks Shakira's sixth No. 1 and first since "Loca" in December 2010. She first reached the tally with the No. 3-peaking "Whenever, Wherever," her breakthrough English-language hit, in 2002. "Forget" is the lead single from Shakira's self-titled album, released this week and due on next week's charts. The song dips 31-34 on the Hot 100, where it's reached No. 15. -- Dierks Bentley: Bentley scores his first No. 1 in nearly two years, and his 11th overall, on Country Airplay, as "I Hold On" ascends 3-1. The Arizona native had most recently topped the chart with "5-1-5-0" (Aug. 4, 2012). He first reigned with his debut entry, "What Was I Thinkin'," in 2003. "Hold" steps 44-42 on the Hot 100. -- Luke Bryan: He freshens up the top 10 on Hot Country Songs, as "Play It Again" flies 18-9, becoming his 15th top 10. It earns the chart's Digital Gainer nod with 48,000 downloads sold (up 52%), in the SoundScan tracking week ending on March 23. On Country Digital Songs, it sets a new peak, rising 6-3. "Play" adds Airplay Gainer applause, soaring 28-18 with 16 million audience impressions (up 82%) on Country Airplay. On the Hot 100, "Play" powers 81-53. -- Calvin Harris: Harris claims the Hot 100's top debut at No. 69 and blasts 26-8 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs with "Summer." His fourth top 10 on the latter chart (dating to its January 2013 launch; in that span, he and David Guetta share the lead for the most top 10s) enters Dance/Electronic Digital Songs at No. 5 with 45,000 downloads sold. The sum accounts for more than two-thirds of its Hot Dance/Electronic Songs points after the track debuted last week with an even split of early airplay and streaming. -- Tim McGraw: As it lifts 25-21 on Hot Country Songs, Tim McGraw's "Lookin' for That Girl" arrives on the Hot 100 at No. 96. Dating to his first Hot 100 entry, "Indian Outlaw," 20 years ago this month (March 5, 1994), McGraw has debuted at least one title each year since. Should his latest reach the Hot Country Songs top 10, it will become his milestone 50th top 10 on the survey. -- Enrique Iglesias: "El Perdedor," featuring Marco Antonio Solis, becomes Iglesias' record-extending 25th No. 1 on Latin Airplay (2-1), as well as Solis' 10th. Ricky Martin follows Iglesias with 13 leaders, with Gloria Estefan next with 11. Solis shares fourth place for the most Latin Airplay No. 1s with Wisin & Yandel. -- Chino & Nacho: The Venezuelan duo scores its fifth Tropical Airplay No. 1, as "Chica Ideal" vaults 9-1 with Greatest Gainer honors (up 63 percent in plays). The pair has now tallied a No. 1 in each year dating its first No. 1, "Nina Bonita," in 2010. -- HAIM: After denting the Alternative airplay chart for a week (No. 40, March 8), the sister trio's "Forever" roars 32-24 in its third week on Hot Rock Songs. Sales account for 66 percent of the track's chart points, as it debuts at No. 21 on Alternative Digital Songs (12,000, up 25 percent). Aiding its profile: its usage in Target's current TV ad campaign. -- Beck: The alt rocker celebrates his first No. 1 on Triple A, as "Blue Moon" rises 3-1. Charting on the survey since 1998, he'd previously reached a No. 2 highpoint with "Think I'm in Love" in 2007.

Streaming Songs 10 5 9 Happy - Pharrell Williams - Back Lot | Columbia 24 8 14 Drunk In Love - Beyonce Featuring Jay Z - Parkwood | Columbia Roar dropped from No.18 to below the top 50. I'm wondering if they did some adjustments to the formula causing these weird movements . WMBDT impact?

^ I doubt it. Gangnam Style is still #1 on Recurrents even though Blurred Lines debuted there this week.

I remember Gangnam Style falling out of Recurrent charts and the Streaming charts surprisingly and now GS is back in the top 10 of Streaming charts and is atop the Recurrent charts.
