Daryl Worley - "Have You Forgotten" Toby Keith - "Courtesy Of The Red White And Blue" Toby Keith - " American Soldier" I'm generally not a fan of patriotic/soldier country songs, and I agree with these first two. HYF? just presents a straw man argument that no one actually made, making me wonder if a Fox News talking head ghost-wrote it. And its lyrics grew dated so fast, what with its references to Bin Laden and US actions in Iraq. (To be fair, it seems that country radio got the point -- it's been many years since I last heard a radio station play this song, and I think even then, I found it horribly dated.) At least when he put "cousin Michael in Iraq" in "Awful, Beautiful Life", it matched the specificity of the rest of the song, and felt like something that could have happened within the context of the story told by that song. "Courtesy" is just hilariously over the top in its 'Murica jingoism, and I can't hate it too much because of how ridiculous it is. There's a reason I keep joking about Toby covering "America, F**k Yeah". I actually grew to like "American Soldier" well after the fact, when I heard Toby point out in an interview somewhere that the song doesn't even bring up anything soldier-related until the chorus; before that point, it just feels like he's describing an actual family man. Once I noticed that little twist, I felt that the song was decent -- not a song I go out of my way for, but one that I can still give a thumbs-up without hesitation. As for Toby's other 'Murica songs, I liked "American Ride" because it was clearly comedic and didn't take sides -- if you listen closely, he makes fun of both the left and the right, which is rare for such a song. My mom loved "Made in America", but I found it so forgettable that I literally couldn't remember a single word of it for over a year after it fell off the charts (not at all helped by literally zero recurrent airplay in my area). The song doesn't do anything wrong other than some dodgy grammar caused by an over-adherance to poetic meter (e.g. "Says the Pledge Allegiance every day" or "he's got the red white blue flying high..."), but it just left no impact on me whatsoever. ==== And getting back to the main topic: * Canaan Smith - "Love You Like That" (so forgettable and boring; no personality to the voice, nothing clever in the lyrics -- seriously, how did Brett Beavers do this? He's usually very good) * Dustin Lynch - "Hell of a Night" (One Jason Aldean is bad enough, we don't need your attempts at being a second one) * Jason Aldean - anything off the last album except "Burnin' It Down" (call it polishing the turd if you want, but I thought that BID was very distinctive in its production/arrangement, and I didn't find the lyrics gross like some of you did)

I know I listed it when this thread was started two years ago and Martina's had some great songs but "I Love You" is awful. Like really awful.
Y2Kountry plays it every day too...
