Had a request to bring this back. Top and bottom 5/10/whatever songs by a given artist. I'm picking Blake Shelton first.
TOP 1. Austin 2. When Somebody Knows You That Well 3. Home 4. Playboys of the Southwestern World 5. Drink on It 6. Mine Would Be You 7. Who Are You When I'm Not Looking 8. Ol' Red 9. Goodbye Time 10. She Wouldn't Be Gone/The Baby (tie)
BOTTOM 1. Over 2. Honey Bee 3. Sure Be Cool If You Did 4. All Over Me 5. God Gave Me You
By the by, how do you guys want to do this? New thread for each artist, or singular thread for top/bottom?

Thanks for bringing this back Bobby :). One of my all time favorite things to view here. Top 1. The Baby (One of the all-timers for me. I'm the youngest, so can't help it) 2. Austin 3. Goodbye Time 4. Nobody But Me 5. Ol' Red 6. Playboys Of The Southwestern World 7. The More I Drink 8. Home 9. When Somebody Knows You That Well 10. God Gave Me You Bottom 1. Over 2. Sure Be Cool If You Did 3. All About Tonight (I decided to put these 3 ahead of "BRH", because as bad as "BRH" is, at least it's different. The other three are like lullabies) 4. Boys Round' Here 5. Mine Would Be You Looking at my list, I think you can see what part of Blake's career I liked best... BTW: Here's a link to the top5/bottom 5 thread way back when. pulsemusic.proboards.com/thread/14821/weekly-bottom-week-willie-nelson

TOP (no particular order) Austin When Somebody Knows You That Well Same Old Song The Last Country Song It Ain't Easy Being Me (inferior to Chris Knight's original, but anyone who covers him is fine by me) Playboys of the Southwestern World I Drink Home Some Beach The Bartender
HONORABLE MENTIONS: Goodbye Time (prefer Conway's, but I'll take it) Ol' Red (I prefer Jones' version ever so slightly, but Blake's is great too) She Don't Love Me (Trent Willmon's version is better)
BOTTOM All About Tonight Boys 'Round Here Hillbilly Bone (I actually don't mind this one, but wish to hear it only once in a great while)
I'm assuming we're allowed to name album cuts because you didn't specify singles, if not let me know and I'll edit my list. Pure BS is the last Blake album I've heard, and since then I've only heard about half of his singles. I actually don't hate "Honey Bee" and "God Gave Me You" as much as I feel I should.

TOP 1. The More I Drink 2. Playboys of the Southwestern World 3. She Wouldn't Be Gone 4. Some Beach 5. Country Strong (Startin' Fires) 6. Honey Bee 7. Ol' Red 8. Nobody But Me 9. Kiss My Country Ass 10. Almost Alright (Hillbilly Bone)/I'll Just Hold On - Tie
BOTTOM 1. Over 2. Sure Be Cool If You Did 3. Drink on It
I really enjoy his songs with an attitude. Most everything of his I enjoy to some degree except these bottom three which are so safe and too milquetoast, IMO.

With the assumption we're using album cuts. I only actually own his last 2 albums, All About Tonight EP and a Greatest Hits.
Top
01. "Austin" 02. "Granddaddy's Gun" 03. "She Wouldn't Be Gone" 04. "I Found Someone" 05. "Mine Would Be You" 06. "Ol Red" 07. "The Baby" 08. "Red River Blue" 09. "Suffocating" 10. "Over" (am I the only one who absolutely loves this?)/"Nobody But Me" - TIE
Bottom
01. "Lay Low" (can't stand this one for some reason) 02. "Country On The Radio" 03. "My Eyes" 04. "Hillbilly Bone" (don't really even hate this, just SO sick of it) 05. "Kiss My Country Ass"

Do I even like 5 Blake songs? Hm.
Top: 1. Austin 2. Nobody But Me 3. She Wouldn't be Gone 4. Home 5. I'll Just Hold On 6. Who Are You When I'm not Looking 7. Mine Would Be You (guilty pleasure)
Bottom: Everything else.
No seriously.
Okay fine. But I really don't like ANY of these songs. Like, instant station-changers, the lot of them.
1. Boys Round Here 2. All About Tonight 3. Hillbilly Bone 4. Sure Be Cool If You Did 5. Some Beach 6. The More I Drink 7. Honey Bee 8. Ol' Red
Apparently I like 7. I own zero of his albums, and I have always found him to be utterly boring. But then there's Austin, and Austin is one of my favorite songs, ever.

Wow, there's other people who consider WAYWINL to be among his worst! I wouldn't go that far, but I'm glad that there's a few here that don't consider that to be a masterpiece other than me.

How did I forget about "The Bartender?" *quietly edits his list* Wow, there's other people who consider WAYWINL to be among his worst! I wouldn't go that far, but I'm glad that there's a few here that don't consider that to be a masterpiece other than me. I like it well enough, but prefer Joe Nichols' version.

Top 5 anything before 2010
Bottom 5 anything after 2010
In all seriousness, I love "I'm Sorry" ft. Martina McBride. I'll think of others later.

So how do you guys wanna do this: Separate threads for each artist? I would just list the top five and bottom five for a new artist when everyone gets tired of ranking the previous artist.

So how do you guys wanna do this: Separate threads for each artist? I think separate threads will get to cluttered, but at the same time, if somebody new wants to contribute in August to the Blake Top 5/Bottom 5, they won't be jumping into the middle of like, a Carrie Underwood Top 5/Bottom 5 within this thread. So clearly I am ambivalent and contributed nothing. ;)

How about naming the artist you're doing before making your top/bottom list, if you're doing a different artist from the post(s) above you? As for myself, I'm waiting for someone more interesting to come around before jumping in, given I get the chance to.

^ I'm thinking separate threads per artist will be better in case someone new joins and wants to add to it, personally.

Top 5 1. Austin 2. Grandaddy's Gun (not my favorite version of the song, but I love the song) 3. I Have Been Lonely 4. Doin' What She Likes 5. Playboys of the Southwestern World 6. God Gave Me You
Bottom 5 1. The More I Drink 2. Hillbilly Bone 3. Over Can't really think of any others I don't like. I'm not a massive BS fan, but there's not much I really dislike of his.

I think separate threads would be fine for now because of the potential for new posters who would want to add, and a regular poster who has been too busy lately and would want too contribute to the artist. If it gets too cluttered later on down the line then perhaps a mod could combine them into one thread, but for now I don't see too big of a problem.

I'm sure it goes without saying, but if we do move forward with separate threads that the titles indicate which artist? Ie, Top 5/Bottom 5 - Blake Shelton.
And can we not start a zillion threads at once? :)

I always looked at this idea his own, so I think it would be best to have him start the threads just so it's well organized. Not trying to take fun away from others, but I think Ten Pound Hammer should be in charge of doing all the top 5/bottom 5 threads.

Yes, I'll start all the threads. I think I'll make one a week, and I'm open to suggestions. (Can we move the posts that aren't about Top 5 Blake Shelton songs out of this thread and into a new general thread, too?)

there are plenty of songs that I liked that were album cuts from his early albums so I'm just sticking to singles here.
Top 10 1 - Austin 2 - Ol' Red 3 - I'll Just Hold On 4 - The Baby 5 - She Wouldn't Be Gone 6 - Goodbye Time 7 - Some Beach 8 - When Somebody Knows You That Well 9 - The More I Drink 10 - Honey Bee
Bottom 5 1 - Boys Round Here 2 - Drink On It 3 - All About Tonight 4 - Mine Would Be You 5 - Doin' What She Likes
I liked him a lot during his first few albums but now I honestly just don't really care for him that much. The Dreamer is my favorite album of his but Barn & Grill is really good as well. Startin' Fires is the last album of his that I've listened to completely though I did listen to some of Red River Blue and love I'm Sorry

I think we should just keep it to this one thread and just not keep it restricted to one artist and let it be open-ended for whatever that poster feels like posting from here on out. Individual threads will become overbearing in a hurry even if they're limited to the creation of new ones by one person and 1 per week, it'll still start to accumulate quick. I can envision it being quite excessive and unnecessary.

I can envision it being quite excessive and unnecessary. I'm not saying that you're wrong on the point of individual threads. I do agree that down the road it probably will become a burden on the sub-board. But I have to respectfully disagree with you in regards to posting on whatever artist someone wants to do. I like seeing what other posters have in regards to the particular artist that is the featured artist that week, and it would become too unorganized if every post is a different artist from the previous one. I think doing one artist per week, whether it's one individual thread or multiple threads is the best coarse of action.

I'm fine with one thread per artist, per week. That wouldn't really be much clutter, especially since we have a whole new sub-forum for topics outside of radio singles. Perhaps I'll play along, but I haven't given it much thought yet.
