 Well thanks for the headline. I have 25-on except for the last Op. Extra (not played) and am waiting to hear the rest. To the surprise of probably no one, her new song "G.U.Y." also gets played in full. EDIT: Dammit. I had to pull away for about 10-15 minutes during #2. I get back...and they're already up to #38.  |

At 1 p.m. EDT they switched from #11 on the old countdown to #10 on the new one. They skipped the optional extra in hour 4.
About 1:45 p.m. they played the new Top 40 but again skipped the optional extra in hour 4.
It looks like they are transitioning to all-countdown-all-the-time without any filler between segments or between shows.

I don't have the full chart up yet (I just got home from a long day from work and trying to get home from work) but via my DAR.fm recording, "Happy" is the new #1 this week meaning "Team" gets screwed out of #1. Last summer the week "Come and Get It" probably should have been #1 the chart moved slowly and "Can't Hold Us" got a 4th week at #1 that probably wasn't justified by a continuous, consistent weekly update. Then AT40 updated with a vengeance, and "Blurred Lines" jumped 11-1. |

Last summer the week "Come and Get It" probably should have been #1 the chart moved slowly and "Can't Hold Us" got a 4th week at #1 that probably wasn't justified by a continuous, consistent weekly update. Then AT40 updated with a vengeance, and "Blurred Lines" jumped 11-1. From the looks of things, that doesn't quite seem to be the case. For the most part, they still appear 2 & 1/2 weeks behind. Considering "Team" spent exactly two days at #1, though, that means it boils down to purely bad luck.  Did they skip the first extra during the first full airing? Cause they skipped it this time. |

Some other observations: I think by now we can assume that it's in the script for the guest hosts to put up the appearance of a live show. Yes, Gaga makes that (apparent) mistake too. And all things considered, she did sound pretty scripted on this one. But, she does at least pay attention to the countdown throughout a good portion of the show. So...I'd put her about on par with Katy's host job from December, and definitely better than Britney's from December. Despite apparently taking the week off, Ryan apparently stuck around to ask Gaga a question (after #10). "#SELFIE": It's not even summer, why does the DJ keep on playing "Summertime Sadness"? Cue the next song...  Kind of figures that Zedd ends up with the week's Buzz Song with Lady Gaga hosting. |

AT40 streams pretty much continuously on iHeartRadio. Use the iHeartRadio app or go to iheart.com and search on "American Top 40." There are also hundreds of terrestrial stations that stream the show. There is a list of stations at at40.com. In the New York City area, AT40 is on Z100 (WHTZ/Newark, N.J.) Sundays from 8 a.m. to noon. |

One thing I haven't liked about the iHeart station in recent months is that, between the repeating of segments and the numerous extras played during breaks, a 4 hour program gets, unnecessarily, padded out to 4 and a half (sometimes longer) hours. Of course, listening to a recording gives me the benefit of being able to skip the filler. Now it looks like there's less filler to skip. |

How far behind Mediabase is it this week? Factoring in the panel difference, I'd say somewhere between 2 and 3 weeks; I'm thinking that the chart was most likely taken from a day other than Sunday during that stretch. |

Thanks! I'm trying to understand if Mariah has a chance of debuting since she's been in the top 40 for 3 weeks now. Assuming she doesn't pick up soon, I'd say it depends on how much the affiliates are playing her. She might, possibly, be able to sneak in as a Breakout, which would certainly boost her overall spins a bit - but right now, it looks to still be an iffy prospect. |
