Wait... Billboard said this is the 3rd week the top 7 have stayed the same, did they make an error, or did LTIT make an error? Billboard made the mistake. It actually is 4...I was also under the impression that it was three though :$ oops |

OneRepublic becomes the first artist to have 2 songs spend 25 weeks in the top 10, the top 7 stay the same for 3 weeks. Not A Bad Thing, Loyal, and Sing, all miss the top 10. Happy will stay at #1 for a long time. All of Me will be blocked by Happy. Talk Dirty will see about a 40% increase in sales next week due to the album (right now it is at #8 and #10). Counting Stars feels old. Billboard likes making tons of very specific statements that almost don't mean anything, saying how narrow the statements are. Owl City flops. Lana set for a debut at about 10-15. Sing becomes Ed's highest charting single after its debut. (Side note: someone needs to tell Ed that every character dosn't cost $1,000). Frozen might not get #1 on the billboard 200 next week (it's at #5 on iTunes) right now. Team and Counting stars are not even in the top 30 on iTunes, but are in the billboard top 10. icantthinkofaname has too much free time. Frozen is expected to be number one next week by more than 100k |

'Happy' tops 4MPharrell Williams's "Happy" tops the 4 million mark in digital sales this week. It's Williams' second song to reach that plateau in a little more than eight months. Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" (on which Williams was featured, along with T.I.) hit 4M in August. (It currently stands at 6,995,000). As you have probably surmised, "Happy" has already outsold Daft Punk's "Get Lucky," on which Williams was also featured. That Grammy-winning smash has sold 3,475,000 copies. "Happy" is the first song to sell 4M digital copies in 2014. It's off to a very fast start, but "Thrift Shop" by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis featuring Wanz got off to an even faster start last year. It topped the 4M mark in 2013 sales the week ending March 31. (The current week is Nielsen SoundScan's week ending April 13.) "Happy" tops the Hot 100 for the eighth week. I'm still surprised that Judy Garland's version isn't more popular digitally considering how ubiquitous and well remembered it is to this day. (Judy's version sold over a million physical copies, so it should be at about 1.5 million copies combined).

As if Radioactive has sold nearly the same as Blurred Lines lol. Pretty surprising. Wish the article had an update for thrift shop. it looks like maybe next year or by the end of this year Cruise will pass 7 million, which is pretty impressive.

4/12 is the same as 4/5
4/5 saw a whole bunch of movement
4/26, 4/19 and 4/12
No mistake in the article. I also agree that 4/5 = 4/12 = 4/19 = 4/26 but the Billboard article was referring to lack of movement three weeks in a row.

Luke Bryan was shut out at the recent Academy of Country Music Awards, going 0-3, but he's doing great on this week's Hot 100. Bryan has two songs scaling the top 20. "Play It Again" leaps from #26 to #14 in its fifth week. Florida Georgia Line's "This Is How We Roll," on which he is featured, jumps from #22 to #16 in its 10th week.
"Play It Again" jumps to #1 on Hot Country Songs, displacing "This Is How We Roll," which led the chart the past four weeks. "Play It Again" is Bryan's eighth #1 hit; his third of 2014. "Drink A Beer" had five weeks on top in January and February.

The Kamakawiwo'ole version is the one I've heard pretty much whenever I've heard it randomly playing in stores or places like that. The arrangement is really suitable for places like that and wherever else you might hear artists like Jack Johnson and Jason Mraz. I'd say that the Garland version is more famous, but it's linked almost exclusively to the movie now, so whenever people buy that it comes in the form of the DVD. |

OneRepublic becomes the first artist to have 2 songs spend 25 weeks in the top 10, the top 7 stay the same for 3 weeks. Not A Bad Thing, Loyal, and Sing, all miss the top 10. Happy will stay at #1 for a long time. All of Me will be blocked by Happy. Talk Dirty will see about a 40% increase in sales next week due to the album (right now it is at #8 and #10). Counting Stars feels old. Billboard likes making tons of very specific statements that almost don't mean anything, saying how narrow the statements are. Owl City flops. Lana set for a debut at about 10-15. Sing becomes Ed's highest charting single after its debut. (Side note: someone needs to tell Ed that every character dosn't cost $1,000). Frozen might not get #1 on the billboard 200 next week (it's at #5 on iTunes) right now. Team and Counting stars are not even in the top 30 on iTunes, but are in the billboard top 10. icantthinkofaname has too much free time. Just a quick note on that last bit, Team and Counting Stars are the only 2 in the top 10 that weren't top ten on this week's Billboard digital chart. And the top 5 on the digital and Hot 100 are almost identical. So again, people can't blame radio. Sales really aren't anymore dynamic. |

I wonder what the true story on "Landslide" was. Yes, it would have lost Country recurrent airplay. But by that point, it was marginal. For Landslide to crash, it would have had to be pulled instantly from hundreds of NON-Country stations, right? It was. It plummeted at AC and Hot AC too. It was #2 at Hot AC in March 2003 and was basically off the chart about a month later. At CHR/Pop, it went from #15 to off the chart a few weeks later (without ever going recurrent). |
