So at some point last week the album clicked with me. I think it was because I read through the lyrics as I was listening to it but for some reason, the melodies started coming through and the album took on meaning and so much depth. I'd say as a whole, it might be her most cohesive album since JLP. That's not to say it's her best by any means. I doubt I'll go back to this the way I do with all of her albums (except Havoc and Bright Lights), but I think it's a pretty solid album! Here's my review: http://instagram.com/p/CEccweQJhFD

Then I put it on this week while I worked & all of the melodies were stuck in my head for the rest of the day.

Here is my re-sequencing of the album that makes it more impactful for me. I also removed "Missing The Miracle" because I just cannot get into that song and don't think it adds anything.
Smiling (w/ The Cast of Jagged Little Pill) Reasons I Drink Diagnosis Losing The Plot Reckoning Sandbox Love Her Nemesis Ablaze Pedestal

Somehow Sandbox love is the one that is in my head... maybe coz I hear it often on Swiss radio.
But as I already wrote, I am glad I did not dismiss the album as I thought after all the singles and before the release

Or you gave it a chance I guess but this is probably the first positive thing you’ve said about it since the era began.

Devil Marlena NylundA few msgs before I wrote it is a good thing that her voice - while listening to the whole album - does not seem changed. I do listen to the album. But I have to say that my listening to the albums in general has changed. I listen almost all albums as a whole and do not skip songs or go to specific songs. 2 days ago was 1 year since LDRey last album and that album is probably the one I listened to the most in past 368 days. But if someone would play me 20 sec of any song (except BARecord which was leaked 4 or 5 years ago) I would not be able to say which song it is. I just listen to albums as a whole and do not pay much attention to favorites anymore, unless they really jump out somehow. I just need from albums to be somewhat equal in sound and be great background music while I read or work or smth. This album fits. On the other hand I know I will probably not listen to Fiona's new album again. It makes me nervous instead of making me chill.

"Her" is among her best ballads to date. It laid me OUT.
A solid album with four tracks that I've put in my best-of Alanis playlist: Smiling, Diagnosis, Losing the Plot, and Her. "Missing the Miracle" is really the only song that does absolutely nothing for me, and "Pedestal" was a bit of a missed opportunity. She's had such higher emotional heights with similar songs, like "This Grudge" for example. "Her" is the emotional gut punch of this album.
Overall, it's pretty on-par with her last studio album, which I enjoy and still listen to quite a bit.

I have best of playlists too for a lot of artists, naturally including Alanis. It has maybe about 50 or so songs on it. I haven’t yet included the new album though with the exception of the two singles.

These are my girls: (there are JLP singles that I like, but just don't want to burn myself out on any further, so they aren't included.) I know how you feel about not having the singles on there. I tend to include the singles just because they tend to fit in whatever mood I want whereas a lot of album tracks I prefer in the context of the album so I try not to burn myself out on those. There's a ton of overlap with my Alanis playlist! I love how you have all the best songs from Flavors on there too! Tapes, Orchid, Limbo No More! Mine is: Too Hot An Emotion Away You Oughta Know Hand In My Pocket All I Really Want Ironic You Learn Head Over Feet You Learn (Live) Wake Up Forgiven You Oughta Know (Grammys) Uninvited Thank U Joining You Unsent So Pure Still That I Would Be Good (MTV) Princes Familiar No Pressure Over Cappuccino These R The Thoughts (b-side version) King Of Pain Bent For You Utopia Hands Clean Precious Illusions Surrendering Twenty-One Things I Want In A Lover You Owe Me Nothing In Return Awakening Americans Symptoms Everything Eight Easy Steps Out Is Through So Called Chaos Excuses Crazy Your House (Acoustic version) Wunderkind Underneath Not As We (Radio Mix) Incomplete In Praise Of A Vulnerable Man Orchid Tapes Limbo No More Guardian Lens Receive Empathy Big Sur Numb (Live version) Today Reasons I Drink Smiling Ablaze Diagnosis Reckoning

There are several Unplugged songs I prefer over the album versions, including these two that should be on my list: You Oughta Know (Unplugged or Grammys) You Learn (Unplugged)

I finally have a song that I had on repeat from this album - Pedestal
I also figured out why her voice seemed so changed to me - it is because I was listening to her songs/videos on the phone! I wanted to play Pedestal yesterday from Ytube and I was wondering why the song sound so different and her voice too and then I got it
99% of music I listen to, I listen on CD.
Anyway, my top 3 songs from the album for now
1. Pedestal 2. Ablaze 3. Sandbox love

I was looking through the nominations to see if Alanis got like a producer nomination, but alas she didn’t. But it’ll bring the musical so much buzz!

What a terrible album cover, same with original. Who approves these things!?

What a terrible album cover, same with original. Who approves these things!? I like the original well enough (though I wouldn't have gone with it personally) but don't like the remix EP cover. Although not fond of the remixes either - except maybe the Diagnosis remix. I'm generally not a fan of remixes that don't incorporate the entire song's lyrics and don't mess with them too much.

New song doesn’t do anything for me, but I’ve been listening to Jagged Little Pill a lot lately. Brings back so many memories.

That song is such a sad and powerful moment in the musical - to the point that it can be triggering to sexual assault victims.
But it's also why the musical is so great. It's a masterful piece of theater and I can go on about it forever.

She released a new song on Friday in partnership with Backline, a non-profit that connects the music industry and families with mental health and wellness resources.

I never realized Alanis was such a staple for Adult Top 40. I'm also surprised how few songs she's charted at AAA, given that Sheryl Crow does so well there. {Billboard Radio Monitor} Song | Chart | Peak Position | Weeks Charted | Peak Week |
