I know but they do impact the chart. It might not have long term impact but the chart we all follow is based on 7 days, so given that timeframe, these songs can and have before had a short term impact big enough to chart high Exactly. If people didn't want it they wouldn't buy it. That's the bottom line. People just don't like it when their fave isn't able to pull off big sales for promo singles. That's the thing, though. They're not buying it. They bought the pre-order and are immediately getting those songs as downloads as soon as they come out. They don't even have high sales, they just rush to the top of the iTunes chart because everyone who pre-ordered the album is getting the song at the same time. All of those sales are going to be negative when the album comes out as well. There is logic behind some people excluding them when looking at the bigger picture of the charts. People aren't just excluding it because it's not "their fave." It absolutely disgusts me when people jump to that conclusion. How shallow do you think we are?

Are you sure about that? Why wouldn't someone simply download the song without preordering the whole album?
Even if someone does preorder. The $1.29 you get charged for the advance song right away is a purchase.

Except the video is still #2 on Vevo, and the lyric video is #9. Not to mention #2 on Spotify, etc. It's got big streaming numbers. How many millions behind #1? Last I recall if you don't have the sales or airplay advantage you need a streaming advantage.

Secondly, they may or may not be negative. We don't know until the receipts come in. I know I have been downloading these songs and I have no desire to purchase Eds album. I'm sure I am not the only one who feels that way. Why purchase the album when you have all the songs you want already? It's not like Ed has a history of releasing hit albums. Pre-order the album to get the songs works only once. LOL! We are like 4 or 5 songs in already.

Iggy Azalea's 'Fancy' No. 1 On Hot 100 For Fourth Week; PSY Debuts In Top 30The Australian rapper rules again with "Fancy," while staying at No. 2 as featured on Ariana Grande's "Problem." Plus, Korean rap star PSY returns with Snoop Dogg on "Hangover" Iggy Azalea spends a fourth week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Fancy," featuring Charli XCX, and holds at No. 2 as a featured act on Ariana Grande's "Problem." "Fancy" also takes over atop the Radio Songs chart. Meanwhile, PSY returns with "Hangover," featuring Snoop Dogg, at No. 26. As we do each Wednesday, let's look at the numbers behind the chart's top 10 and more. Azalea continues her record-tying run in the Hot 100's top two spots, as, for a fourth week, "Fancy" and "Problem" rank at Nos. 1 and 2, respectively; previously, only the Beatles held the Hot 100's top two rungs simultaneously with their first two entries, for 10 weeks in 1964. "Fancy" continues its Hot 100 command aided by its coronation on Radio Songs (2-1). The track surges by 7 percent to 145 million in all-format audience, according to Nielsen BDS. Azalea becomes the first female rapper to lead the list since Shawnna topped the Dec. 6, 2003, tally as featured on Ludacris' "Stand Up." Azalea is the first lead female artist to rule Radio Songs since Lil' Kim's "Magic Stick," featuring 50 Cent, reigned the week of July 5, 2003. The only other Radio Songs No. 1s by female rappers: Eve's "Let Me Blow Ya Mind," featuring Gwen Stefani (four weeks, 2001) and Lil' Kim's "Lady Marmalade," with Christina Aguilera, Mya and P!nk (six weeks, 2001). As it tops Radio Songs, "Fancy" registers drops in sales and streaming for a third week. It leads Digital Songs for a fourth week but decreases by 14 percent to 226,000 downloads sold in the tracking week ending on June 15, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It logs a fifth week at No. 1 on Streaming Songs, down by 2 percent to 12.2 million U.S. streams, according to BDS. "Fancy" featured singer Charli XCX, meanwhile, soars with her first Hot 100 hit as a lead artist, as "Boom Clap" bounds 62-29 in its second week. As its push to pop radio begins, the track jumps into the Digital Songs top 10 (16-9; 116,000, up 55 percent), powered by its inclusion in "The Fault in Our Stars" film and soundtrack, the latter of which pushes 8-5 on the Billboard 200 with a 5 percent gain to 38,000 sold. The catchy cut approaches Streaming Songs (1 million, up 266 percent) and Radio Songs (3.4 million, up from 150,000). "Fancy" again holds off "Problem" for the Hot 100's top rank, with the latter also gaining at radio but decreasing in sales and streaming. "Problem" pushes 4-3 on Radio Songs, up by 11 percent to 127 million. It holds at its No. 2 peak on Streaming Songs (10.6 million, down 11 percent) and dips 2-3 on Digital Songs (186,000, down 13 percent); now in its seventh week on the chart, it spent its first three frames at No. 1. With "Fancy" and "Problem" down by 5 and 6 percent, respectively, in overall Hot 100 points, the former claims 17 percent more points than the latter. "Fancy" had won by 15 percent the previous two weeks. "Fancy" leads the sales/airplay/streaming-based Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts for a fourth and ninth week, respectively, while topping the Songs of the Summer ranking for a third week. Below the "Fancy" and "Problem" stranglehold, Canadian pop/reggae quartet MAGIC! blasts 7-3 with its debut Hot 100 hit "Rude," which claims top Digital and Airplay Gainer honors. The song surges 4-2 on Digital Songs (207,000, up 28 percent) and enters the Radio Songs top 10 (13-8; 88 million, up 28 percent). On Streaming Songs, it stays at its No. 9 high (5.9 million, up 21 percent). John Legend's "All of Me" drops 3-4 on the Hot 100 after logging three weeks at No. 1 and falls 1-2 after seven weeks atop Radio Songs (138 million, down 10 percent). It slips 6-7 on Streaming Songs (6.3 million, down 8 percent), while rebounding 9-7-on Digital Songs (122,000, up 5 percent); it peaked at No. 2 on the latter list for eight weeks. Again rounding out the Hot 100's top five, Jason Derulo's "Wiggle," featuring Snoop Dogg, holds at No. 5. The song remains at No. 3 on Streaming Songs (9.4 million, up 8 percent); backtracks 5-6 on Digital Songs (142,000, down 3 percent) and charges 36-28 on Radio Songs (44 million, up 24 percent). DJ Snake and Lil Jon's "Turn Down for What" slide to No. 6 on the Hot 100 from its No. 4 peak and leads the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart for a 12th week. Norwegian pop duo Nico & Vinz lifts 8-7 (after reaching No. 6 two weeks ago) with its first Hot 100 hit, "Am I Wrong." The track darts 10-5 on Radio Songs (101 million, up 22 percent); rebounds 6-5 on Digital Songs (144,000, up 1 percent) after rising to No. 3 three weeks ago; and slips 13-15 on Streaming Songs, but with a 6 percent advance to 4.2 million. Pharrell Williams' former 10-week Hot 100 No. 1 "Happy" descends 6-8, while Calvin Harris' "Summer" holds at its No. 9 peak. It bullets again at No. 7 on Radio Songs (96 million, up 8 percent) and No. 12 on Digital Songs (96,000, up 4 percent) and regresses 12-13 on Streaming Songs, although with a 2 percent gain to 4.3 million. After vaulting 19-10 last week, U.K. pop singer/songwriter Sam Smith holds at No. 10 with "Stay With Me." The ballad slips 3-4 on Digital Songs (165,000, down 1 percent), while pushing 18-14 on Radio Songs (66 million, up 23 percent) and 41-34 on Streaming Songs (2.2 million, up 12 percent). Smith concurrently climbs 17-14 with his third top 20 Hot 100 hit, Disclosure's "Latch," on which he's featured. (In his first visit, as featured on Naughty Boy's "La La La," he reached No. 19.) Smith's debut full-length album, "In the Lonely Hour," was released yesterday (June 17) and is due in the upper reaches of next week's Billboard 200 (highlights of which will be revealed on Billboard.com a week from today). Below the Hot 100's top 10, Korean rapper PSY scores the chart's top debut with "Hangover," featuring Snoop Dogg, at No. 26. The track starts with 90 percent of its chart points from streaming, entering Streaming Songs at No. 4 with 7.3 million U.S. streams (97 percent of which are from Vevo on YouTube video views). Sales account for nearly all of its other Hot 100 points (16,000 first-week downloads sold). In PSY's two prior Hot 100 visits, he reached No. 2 with "Gangnam Style" in 2012 and No. 5 with "Gentleman" last year. The official video for "Style" has drawn more than 2 billion worldwide YouTube views, ranking as the site's most-watched clip all-time (after passing Justin Bieber's "Baby"). Other notable moves below the top 10 include Pitbull's "We Are One (Ole Ola) [The 2014 FIFA World Cup Official Song]," featuring Jennifer Lopez and Claudia Leitte, re-entering at a new high of No. 59, after the World Cup kicked off (pun intended) on June 12; Clean Bandit's former four-week U.K. No. 1 "Rather Be," featuring Jess Glynne, debuting at No. 97; and Jamie N Commons and X Ambassadors' "Jungle" entering at No. 100 following its usage in an episode and trailer for Netflix's "Orange Is the New Black," the trailer for the movie "Welcome to Yesterday" and a synch in a World Cup commercial for Beats Electronics. Visit Billboard.com tomorrow (June 19), when all rankings, including the Hot 100 in its entirety and Digital Songs, Radio Songs and Streaming Songs, will refresh, as they do each Thursday. The latest charts will also appear in the next issue of Billboard magazine (on sale on Friday, June 20). www.billboard.com/articles/news/6121624/iggy-azalea-fancy-no-1-hot-100-four-weeks-psy-debuts-top-30

so happy that "rather be" is on there now. :) hoping that "shower," "pills n potions," and "chandelier" moved up, too! i don't think that problem may get number one though seeing how much "rude" is blowing up. :/

Just like everyone was confident "Problem" was going to be #1, everyone is so confident "Rude" is going to be #1. Ok. The video killed any chances the song had of going to #1. I mean Ariana has no presence at all. She gets lost. It's almost like her dancers have more star power than she does. You don't release a video that makes an artist's weak points stand out in a bad way. It's obvious she is uncomfortable being the type of woman who can carry a song like Problem. Forcing her to dance in a video where she looks completely uncomfortable reinforces that and takes away from people's enjoyment of the song and video thus lowering streams to the point of it'll probably be impossible for her to get #1 on the HOT 100 short of a miracle. Nah! If it weren't for Fancy, it would be a multi-week #1 so I doubt anyone would be raising this argument. I'm definitely of the ilk that AG isn't all that, but I like Problem. The song is a huge success, even if it doesn't hit #1, it is providing AG a path to adult hits.

Fancy is only the second song after Happy to top Digital Songs, Streaming Songs, and Radio Songs at the same time. And finally Rather Be debuted! And lol @ Hangover not even debuting in the top 25...

That Problem video is so cheesy and disappointing. Just so hashed together - were Iggy and Ariana even in the same room? Cause it looks fake in the really short scenes they show up next to each other.

"We Are One" comes in around where halfnote speculated- though, a little below the middle of the chart. Guess it won't get quite as high as "Waka Waka."

Yay at "Fancy" another week at #1 :) "Rather Be" looks like it has potential, they should push it a bit more in the US and "Rude" is seriously blowing up, the next #1 after "Fancy" it seems.

Only a digital/streaming superstar can do this! Hot 100: :O
#59 Pitbull Feat. Jennifer Lopez & Claudia Leitte - We Are One
zero radio airplay, zero commercial, zero payola. #Pitbullegend
Too bad that RCA didn't release this as a single. This had potential. It's top 5 in Europe!

Yeah Problem has had 50k+ points these last few weeks which would more than enough for #1 in most weeks. It was kinda like the massive success of BL stopping GL, which was top 5 in sales and top 3 in streaming and radio at the same time IIRC, from getting to #1 despite GL being more than viable for #1 (I was sure GL would reach #1 before BL appeared on the scene).

PSY had his proverbial 15 minutes of fame in 2012 when "Gangnam Style" became one of the biggest viral hits in pop history. But here we are in 2014 and the genial South Korean rapper is still turning out viral hits. His latest, "Hangover" (featuring Snoop Dogg) has received more than 68 million YouTube streams worldwide in its first 10 days of release. The song received 7.3 million streams in the U.S. in the tracking week, which ended Sunday night. (The Hot 100 takes into account only sales, airplay and streaming activity in the U.S.)
The song enters Billboard's Hot 100 at #26. That's a higher debut than "Gangnam Style," which opened at #64 (and peaked at #2). But it's not quite as high as PSY's 2013 release "Gentleman," which opened at #12 (and peaked at #5).
The comments at YouTube reflect the divided opinion the "Hangover" video is drawing: "Weird combo, but I think it's refreshing as hell." "Worst five minutes of my life." "Music has really lowered its standards." (That one drew this response: "You're missing the point of artists like this. This video isn't about the music. It's about having a good time.") And: "Never thought I'd see PSY and Snoop brush their teeth together." (It's a scene in the video. And yes, it's an odd sight.)
Snoop is featured on another mindless hit with a one-word title: Flo Rida's "Wiggle." That song holds at #5 this week. Snoop appears content to play the comic foil on pop hits that surely reduce your IQ every time you play them.
"Fancy" by Iggy Azalea featuring Charli XCX tops the Hot 100 (and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart) for the fourth straight week. The song also moves up to #1 on the Radio Songs chart, displacing John Legend's "All Of Me," which had been on top for seven weeks. Azalea is the first female rapper to top the Radio Songs chart (as a lead artist) since Lil' Kim, whose "Magic Stick" (featuring 50 Cent) scored in July 2003.
"Fancy" tops the 2 million mark in digital sales this week. It's the best-selling all-female collabo since "Telephone" by Lady Gaga featuring Beyonce, which has sold 3,348,000 copies since its release in November 2009. The song reached #3 in April 2010.
"Fancy" is the 11th song to top 2M in sales so far in 2014.
Charli XCX could have a second song in the top 10 within the next few weeks. "Boom Clap" from The Fault In Our Stars soundtrack vaults from #62 to #29 in its second week. Digital sales rank: #9 (116K). The soundtrack jumps to #5 on The Billboard 200 this week.
"Problem" by Ariana Grande featuring Iggy Azalea holds at #2 for the fourth week. Azalea is only the second artist to hold down the top two spots concurrently with his, her or its first two chart singles. The Beatles achieved the feat for six weeks in early 1964 with their first two chart hits, "I Want To Hold Your Hand" and "She Loves You."
"Rude" by MAGIC! jumps from #7 to #3. The song jumps to #2 on Hot Digital Songs. This ends a six-week run in which Iggy Azalea had a lock on the top two spots on this chart.
Here's a recap of this week's top 10 songs.
The Top Five: "Fancy" by Iggy Azalea featuring Charli XCX holds at #1 for the fourth week in its 15th week on the chart. This is its eighth week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #1 (226K) … "Problem" by Ariana Grande featuring Iggy Azalea holds at #2 for the fourth week in its seventh week on the chart. It has been in the top 10 the entire time. Digital sales rank: #3 (186K) … MAGIC!'s "Rude" jumps from #7 to #3 in its eighth week on the chart. This is its third week in the top 10.
