Sony just sent pr for a "major announcement" on Thursday. I'm betting they're partnering with Garth.

That is music superstar awesomeness - let's ask a venue that is restricted to make special exception for me and when they don't, I'm going to pick up ALL my toys and walk away. 400,000 people who sadly paid for the pleasure now end up with nothing. Must be nice to have that kind of power to lord over the masses. Too bad for those fans. Very disappointed when I read about stories like this

I can understand where he's coming from. It's unfair for, what, 200K? people to not be able to go but the rest of them to be. I think Ireland should have agreed to the 5 shows. 5 days out of 365 makes no difference in the long run.

Hot Air ... Garth To Sony Nashville?
No one is talking, and the silence is deafening. Sony Nashville has called a press conference for 11am CT Thursday (7/10), which just happens to be the exact time of the press conference Garth Brooks has asked fans to watch via his website. Coincidence?

That's from Country Aircheck...very interesting, indeed.

Glad Garth is finally releasing music digitally, although I respect him for holding out as long as he did

New single by the end of summer, a new song on the next (double-disc) album that may have overtaken "The Dance" as his favorite song, + the double album coming out around Black Friday. That, and he's releasing ticket prices for his upcoming tour soon, and he's "incredibly proud" of his ticket prices, too.
Incredible. And the fact that he's releasing in Q4 should have Borchetta, Swift & Co. shitting bricks. I believe she's releasing in October, but her reign may only last a couple of weeks in the spotlight in comparison to her previous efforts since GB's release will likely be monstrous.

The thing I took away the most from the press release (didn't see the presser though I heard it lasted an eternity) is that a new single will be out to country radio before August. With a album by Thanksgiving. The fact that he basically announced that his new music will be out before the end of the year is what I'm so happy about. The timing does make a ton of sense with his official comeback being under a microscope for so long now, it seemed right to release his music just in time for the holiday season to maximize the potential of sales (though I really think that any time of the year would have been monstrous because it's Garth). Seems like he hasn't missed a step in terms of marketing, the only question is, how will his music turn out after being out of the game for so long? RCA now has Miranda, Chris Young, Jake Owen, Sara Evans, Love and Theft, and Garth Brooks on their roster (though Garth's is a partnership). Not a bad lineup at all. Not to mention the 83 other artists that Sony Music Nashville has signed between their three labels.

Interesting. RCA. The home of his one time competitor, Clint Black. Can you say full circle, anyone?

A new album though he said it might be a double CD one because he said he has so much he wants to say in his music since he's been gone so long.

Huge mistake on his part. He's playing chicken with the government and the fans there aren't taking his tactics well.

Huge mistake on his part. He's playing chicken with the government and the fans there aren't taking his tactics well. I don't see this as a huge mistake on his part....nobody stopped him in the first place from adding the 4th and 5th show. If there was this agreement between the neighborhood that they can't have more than 3 shows then the promoter should have know this and stepped in. Garth would be bringing so much economic activity to the area for those 5 days it'd be ridiculous. But 5 days of chaos would be worth it in all the good it would do for the area. Yeah it'd still be 5 days of chaos but it would pass and they would go back on with their lives.

I completely agree with his all-or-nothing approach to the Ireland shows. It's not fair for him to get to pick and choose which fans do get to attend the concert and which fans don't after they paid. Either they all get to do it or else he won't play at all so that way it's equal fairness across the board.
I also love his push to not release to iTunes. He's one of the truest pioneers across all musical genres today that is sticking to the idea of purchasing music, and purchasing a whole album of music, at that. It's not like it's backfiring on him, either, considering his sales stats throughout his whole career.

If it's theatrics then it's 'sincere theatrics'. He seems very sincere in wanting to provide great shows to the fans. The man has an ego but is REALLY humble.

Yeah, it's not like it was Garth's fault that the Ireland shows got cancelled. It seems to me that he did everything he could to try to come to a deal but it just wasn't working. That doesn't seem like theatrics to me.

^ Agreed. It was entirely out of his control. The only people that his Ireland fans should be mad at are the people on the committee that vetoed his 5-show run.

Pretty pumped for new music from Garth. Hard to believe it's been 13 years since he released his last full album of new/original material. Hope the wait's been worth it.

I don't know the numbers of albums sold or tickets sold but he is one of the biggest acts of all time. When you go away from regular touring for 13 years and your that big nothing you do is behind the scenes. This was gonna be out in the public whether he wanted it or not because someones gonna say something and its gonna slip. Garth knows how to play the game and he does it very well, More Than A Memory just doesn't debut at #1 on Billboard for nothing. With these shows they've been talked about in the US, UK, and Europe. Which is now further sparking the fire of a World Tour, and its getting it out there that he's getting ready to return. Free press in a way.
