I've said this before, but Garth Brooks will be saving country music when he tours this year (and next).

Hi Everyone!
I hope this is allowed.
Just dropping in to tell you to keep your eyes and ears open on 7/7/2014! Garth Brooks has something he's going to be sharing. It's super huge.
You can go back to your daily routine. Or speculate below, if this is allowed!
If this isn't allowed, please close the thread. :(

I'm not a mod, but I guess I'll just let you know that this thread is 100% allowed and there's nothing wrong with it, but it's just in the wrong section of the Country folder. A mod will likely just move it to the Country Non-Singles and News Discussion sub-folder. :)
And welcome!

Sometimes you have to kill something to save it. Looking back, Garth Brooks did help a lot of country artists to achieve gold and platinum CDs. Once you were in the record store buying his CDs, you were buying others as well.

He signs with a new label... and is recording more music..and is touring.
Sorry to ruin the surprise that he is now back to doing what every other signed artist is doing.
For the record.. love Garth..

Unfortunately Garth isn't going to make a successful radio comeback. Radio will show no interest in playing a new Garth Brooks song. He'll be lucky to ever have another top 30 radio single. However whatever music he releases will outsell everything thing else out there and his tours will be the biggest in history.

However whatever music he releases will outsell everything thing else out there and his tours will be the biggest in history. You forget that Garth is the marketing king. Do I think Garth will have another string of #1 and top 10 hits for the next several years, no. But his initial first single will be massive. It will go #1 just from the buzz alone. The follow up single to that will be the true test. If it tanks, then Garth's time at radio will be over fairly quick. If it makes it too then that will say a lot. You can't make such a broad judgment in a situation like this. One thing that radio listens to is money and loves the gimmicks. Garth is the master of that. You are right about one thing, his tours will trump anyone else out there once again. But hey Paul McCartney is still selling out Arenas and Stadiums and you don't hear new release of his on Top 40 radio, or even HAC. Legendary acts as big as Garth will never need radio, but radio will want him back, if only for the comeback buzz single.

Garth has had some of the strangest chart runs I've ever seen, including fast flame outs. But one of those odd chart runs was the #1 debut of "More Than A Memory". Nothing will match that ever again I think but I do feel his comeback single from a new studio album will be huge and be an easy top 5 if not #1 single. After that is anybody's guess, but I agree with many who say that Garth is a master marketer and has probably planned his comeback out to the best of his ability.

I've never understood why Garth Brooks is so popular. I don't dislike him, and I think he has some good songs, but he still seems to be lacking to me. His voice isn't anything special in my opinion. However, I agree that his first single will probably be guaranteed a top 10 spot, and he will probably get some Clear Channel deal to help. But after that I think his singles will fizzle out more. I'd be more excited if Alabama or Brooks & Dunn were planing a big comeback.

Garth is 52. Reba is 59. Shania is 48 Dolly is 69. None of these artists are played on radio. Garth might get a couple more top 40 singles, and maybe that'll be it...What's sad, they're all too old, (not really) for radio!

Garth might get a couple more top 40 singles, and maybe that'll be it...What's sad, they're all too old, (not really) for radio! Here's the flaw in this logic. Garth had "The Call" but I don't believe it was a legit radio single, More Than A Memory debuted at #1 on Billboard, so I think a supported single is gonna chart and will chart well with the right material. Reba hasn't had a CD out in 3 years, so there is nothing for radio to play. Shania hasn't had a CD out in forever and I don't think were any closer to one for her. Dolly understand she isn't the fresh new act and she's not making music for radio. I know she releases singles but they aren't supported and they are advertised. Each of those artists have different situations so I wouldn't lump them together. To switch slightly to the ireland concerts...I was reading that Dublin City Council only approved 3 of the 5 shows. Garth responded saying if they don't approve the final two then the other three will be canceled as well.

I have a feeling this announcement is going to be that he is finally releasing his music catalog to iTunes/digital retailers.

He'll cave in eventually. And he better reconsider if he does have any plans on releasing new music in this day and age.

Garth Brooks should start his comeback here in America. You tell me what city would say no to a series of concerts. Dublin just shot two of them down!

And he better reconsider if he does have any plans on releasing new music in this day and age.Clearly you were not around Thanksgiving time when he released the Blame It All on My Roots: Five Decades of Influences Box Set, sold exclusively through walmart...its sold close to 1 million copies. He can still sell physical CDs and he is doing very well at it. Plus with the big names that aren't on iTunes appear on iTunes its because they made a deal with iTunes and sometimes its an Exclusive deal, and iTunes wants access to special content so they can use that to pull people in. Walmart already has a deal with Garth, what it specifically says I don't know but they had all his unreleased music to this point and did something with it and you can buy it physically. At this day in age artists can do very well with a big enough name to sell CDs physically if thats how they want to do it. Beyonce did an iTunes release of her album. If she had or another big artist released a CD in store only trust me the people will still buy it.

Looks like the announcement was to announce a press conference for Thursday at noon ET. So I guess today was just an announcement of another announcement or something like that lol

That interview is from last year. Weird that it's surfacing and becoming massively high-profile today. It's even the top trend on Facebook at the moment. Thanks for clarifying that it's a year old because I thought it was very recent (and then proceeded to get confused since the "2014 world tour" he announced would have to be announced and start within 6 months since the year is halfway over, lol).

Hmm a press conference...ton of possibilities:
1. World tour 2. New single/album announcement (with world tour to follow?) 3. Releasing his music catalog on iTunes/digital retailers soon 4. All of the above
