This is why I think she's today's Queen of Pop. I understand the title may as well be Madonna's epitaph, but in the sense of what it stands for, you just don't see this generation's artists coming forward to talk about her anymore. If you were to ask any young girl who inspired her to be a pop star... it's Britney. She is the most influential woman in the industry today.

You might say I'm crazy and I really don't care, BUT I spent 5 hours yesterday revisiting some of Britney's OLD videos on Youtube. Such as VMAs, AMAs, Billboard, TRL, MTV, talk show appearances, SNL, ETC. You name it, I watched it. Britney has always been on top since her debut. Britney demanded your attention and she owned the stage. Britney’s music and persona took us places that we were never taken to before. Those who came after Britney will always be, in a sense, compared to Britney. Britney has influenced most of today's pop stars like Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Selena G, Taylor S, Miley C, Charli XCX, Ariana G, Demi L, Rihanna...
In conclusion, I agree with Coco. I feel Britney is a true testament of what defines Queen of Pop.

There are however a few bitches on that list who are clearly inspired however forgot that you need to be a singer or dancer or both, but at least one of those  and not dead fish flopping on stage, but whatever! I said in the New York Times that Mariah Carey and Britney Spears are the most important women of the last 25 years in influencing the young artists. I can name hundreds for each.

I’ve done that thing. Gone ahead of myself in my enthusiasm. So apologies to all for the ‘tease’. It’s the Britney effect, you’ve seen it elsewhere with others, keen to bang the tambourine and popping out idealistic tweets. Mine no exception. Careless matches setting the countryside alight.

But do you ever hear any up and coming artists saying stuff along the lines of "taylor swift is my hero, she's the reason I do this, etc. etc." like how we've seen 100000's of artists say about Britney?

Comes down to Impact, and Britney actually made that impact.

I mean she's already been out 8 years. Britney was already into a Greatest Hits album by that time, and people were already praising her, saying she was their inspiration.

I'm sure there are many up and coming artists right now that could've been young even when Fearless or Red came out and said she was their inspiration.... but I've literally seen no one do it.

Even if she keeps at her pace, she's not doing anything really that would make an up and comer say that type of thing about her / praise her in that way imo. Taylor's never revolutionized anything in the industry or been a trailblazer. She's been a HUGE artist, but she's never been the type to really set the trend (in music) or really push the boundaries.
