On Top 40 radio "Baby One More Time" hit num.1 for 5 weeks I believe. Follow up singles both hit num. 4 for two and 3 weeks. "Oops I did It Again" hit num.1 for 2 or 3 weeks. "Lucky" hit num.8 but was a big disappointment. After that is when the real struggle began. "Stronger until she hit num.1 with "Toxic" for 4 weeks followed by the num. 4 for 4 weeks "Everytime". She then struggled for 4 years to comeback with the "Circus" era but had minor hits for "Blackout". Maybe a lot of her music didn't crossover but on top 40 she always seemed to do very well except the alleged "radio blackball" era. Yup pop radio was good to her. But for an era where bubblegum pop was huge (1999) - why were the Backstreet Boys and Christina Aguilera getting more airplay... Baby One More Time was a worldwide smash, so it's odd that radio was it's weak point in the US I believe Backstreet Boys music was pretty big at adult formats as well as Top 40. Perhaps Christina's was more accepted there to since she was marketed more for her voice and talent??

Why “Just Luv Me” wasn’t huge is beyond me.

Why “Just Luv Me” and “Do You Wanna Come Over?” and “Better” and Glory in general wasn’t huge is beyond me. RCA is a dumpster fire of a record label.

Better should've been the first single. Imagine THAT with G-Eazy. LOVE Make Me but not sure if it was the right choice for 1st. Especially when it came out in summer.

I don't know why they went with "Make Me" as a first single. Perhaps because it was a little different for her? I liked it but for a first single by an artist who people want dance and or attitude from. It was a little lackluster. I liked other songs as much or better than this on the cd but thinking back now I don't know what would have been a better "First" single. Maybe "Slumber Party"?? I remember really liking "Better" at the time but probably not for a first single. Same with "Love Me Down". I remember fans as well as myself loving "Do You Wanna Come Over" but many said it was way to "girly" for radio. Maybe "Make Me" was the best choice for a single. I personally wouldn't have minded "Change Your Mind" but it was just a "Bonus Track" so I didn't really see that happening.

I still absolutely love Make Me and I'm still surprised it didn't smash, lol. I truly thought that was gonna be a Renaissance era for her -- not that she needs it really.

The only song that should have been the lead single is If I'm Dancing. The days of Britney sending a song straight to the top are long gone so the least they could do is just release the most bizarre and different sounding song on the album right off the bat. Imagine the video we would get. The VMA performance. The meme possibilities. It's among her 10 best songs periodttt

Honestly though, even in hindsight, "Make Me" was pretty strong first single. If they had followed through with the initial rollout (what seemed to be a simultaneous single/video drop), it would have done well- it was just terribly mismanaged. The only reason something with more tempo, ie. "Better" or even "Slumber Party" remix, would have probably been as a first choice would be for a more exciting VMA performance slot. Unless she was going to serve the original MM choreo from her IG rehearsal/original video. Commercial success aside and at least to most fans, "Glory" is really a kind of a renaissance era and a return to form.

Yeah, I do believe MM would've been different if the video had actually come out as planned and not that awful reshoot. And even then, all things considered, the song still did well. It's gotten 100M streams on Spotify despite having a horrid video, and went to #2 after the VMAs. There was clear interest in the song when it was promoted, but as with Britney's recent projects, there wasn't a whole lot of that.

This is horrible. I hope she has the time to heal and assess everything that’s going on right now. I’m sure we can all relate in some capacity that it’s not easy with a sick family member (and especially the possibility they may not recover fully, if at all). Brit, Jamie Lynn, Bryan, Lynne, and the kids are in my thoughts.
And of course, the trolls in the TMZ comments emerged from under their bridges for their daily feedings and are saying the MOST right now.

Very sad to hear this, but at the same time very glad she is doing what she needs to do to get better. This whole ordeal can’t have been easy for her, especially if his prognoses has changed.

Nothing but love and prayers for the one and only miss Britney Spears. She'll get through this no doubt, she's a fighter!

Huge props to her for recognizing when something might be wrong and actively doing something about it. What an amazingly stark contrast from 12/13 years ago! I hope she gets the help she needs and things turn around for her.

The original "Make Me" video, directed by David LaChappelle has finally LEAKED in FULL, in HD. streamable.com/63rnaWhere's the "controversy" tho? This was a million times better ("damn...") than what we received during the Glory era.

WOW! So weird that it leaked all of a sudden -- some thoughts:
I can see why Britney didn't want it released. It's porny and overly sexual, without any reason why. The scenes of her in the red body paint you can fully see her nipples, the gets banged from the back by her dancers, then from the front by G Eazy, and then makes out with the other model. Also it seemed like she didn't know the words to the song at several parts.
Overall I guess this is better than the real video, but I still didn't love it. Also is it just me or did she look better in the real video?

Also is it just me or did she look better in the real video? I wouldn't go that far. In the "audition" video her lips are too big, like they were just done and hadn't settled yet. She looks stunning in the boiler room scene at the beginning and standing against the wall, in front of the electrical box and such.

It's better than what we got, but to quote one of her other videos, "it doesn't make any sense, does it?"
It would've been fairly buzzworthy and there some great shots, but now that I've seen it, I'm okay with it not officially being part of her videography. The worst part was the G-Eazy scene (of course that made it into the final video, though it's at least stripped of context?) It doesn't really live up to the hype of being her "lost" music video. Still, I'm glad it leaked now rather than 15 years from now.
I do love the cage scenes with the red body paint.
