This is the same quality and effort as when she was in the conservatorship. I get that the popular Internet opinion is that Britney was just being repressed by people around her during the conservatorship and that she's free now so everything should be back to 2003. But she has legit sever mental health issues, and she's 20 years older. It's never going to be 2003 again. This is the Britney we have now.

I actually think these little songs she's releasing may be done to satisfy her record label. The slow drip approach of releasing a song every year may be done to give RCA a bone, before she's ready to really do something about her contract obligations. RCA did the same thing with Glory -- slow dripping deep cuts like Swimming in the Stars, Mood Ring, and Matches every so often. This is more of the same it looks like, just with a dusted off Britney Jean track. I don't really subscribe to the thought that Britney isn't engaged, but she may still be healing and processing. Anything that we get from Britney will not be a reference to 2003 but maybe something like 2007, as that was the last time she was 'free'.
I also don't think this song is her 'brand' now, but that is more or less because I don't think she really has one at this point, as I don't think she's really reflected and healed enough to begin thinking about what an 'album' or 'sound' would look like for her in 2023 or beyond.
I don't think 'Mind Your Business' is the way she wants to go, in the same way I don't think 'Hold Me Closer' is the direction she wants to go. We won't know much at all for probably some time. The greatest indication of where she is right now, may very well be her book which comes out in October.

I mean, I don't think it's that nefarious - I think Britney just doesn't care, in the sense that she has fun recording music but outside of that, she doesn't feel the need to do the hustle and bustle of promoting it and everything that it entails. Look at Hold Me Closer, it was the same thing, she barely posted about it and even the few times she did, it was with fan made covers lol. I wouldn't take lack of posting about this either as her not being involved (if anything, the producers said she was very involved in the HMC process for example), I think she just likes making the songs and just wants to leave it there at this point. Maybe she'll get back to a point where she does create a full length work that she wants to aggressively promote, but I could see the way things are now, where she just has friends like Elton, Will, etc who are like, do you want to do a song? And she's like sure. And that's the end of it for her lol.

I saw "Once Upon A One More Time" on Broadway last night and loved it. Aside from how well they adapted the songs to stage (KILLER arrangements and band), it was legitimately funny from top to bottom. Most of the cast (aside from the lead woman, sorry girl) was incredible. Justin Guarini really carries that show and was absolutely electric. Go see it if you're in NYC. It's 2.5 hours (including a 15 minute intermission), but goes by in the blink of an eye! Great review, I saw it a few weeks ago (and got a cute pic in the Lucky booth) and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Some of the jokes are really bad, but bad enough that they make you laugh anyway. Justin Guarini doing Circus was the absolute highlight for me; imagine if Britney pulled out choreo like that for that song. There were a few questionable song choices (Brightest Morning Star, really?) and Work Bitch kinda got kinda flat as it went on (and no one should ever say that about that song) but otherwise everything worked pretty well. I'd also definitely recommend it. Maybe they'll add Mind Your Business?

Cinderella (the song) gets pretty decent airtime in the Broadway show as a deep cut, both as a medley to Piece of Me, and as a reprise as the main character of the show is Cinderella. You could argue that Cinderella is the main song of the show in that its used the most in the musical.

Shook that they did Brightest Morning Star! Were there any other deep cuts? Other than Cinderella, no other deep cuts. The original production included If I'm Dancing and Passenger, but those were both cut before it came to Broadway, and they're not deep cuts but they do include Make Me and...Pretty Girls, in a dance-off medley with Boys, LOL.

I couldn’t even finish this “song.” Surely this is some reject that has been sitting on someone’s computer for years and they just wanted to release something.

Instagram deactivated again.
I'd say she needs to take some time off and work on her issues but she'll be back in three days with a gazillion emojis.

All these years later and its still iconique. And to think she had to fight Jive for this to be a single. They wanted Boom Boom.

SHORTAYYY! I live for that song and the Ying Yang Twins' ugly, grunting ad-libs. Also, the choreography was flawless.

In The Zone could have had a great rollout and more singles might have been released if Britney didn't have her knee injury during the "Outrageous" videoshoot to be honest. I'm aware that "Outrageous" was a contractual release and Jive needed to push that song as a single, but that track is inferior to "(I Got That) Boom Boom", "Breathe On Me" and "Touch Of My Hand" in my opinion. Even, Britney wasn't very enthusiastic with that idea too.

ITZ era was such a mess behind the scenes yet it queened so hard that her knee blew up. Britney's beef with Jive for that entire era was so petty.
Jive wanted "Outrageous" to be the lead single, but Britney pushed hard for MATM... which she originally didn't want on the album at all lol. Then Madonna gaslit her into thinking it was good and recorded her own verse; suddenly Britney wanted that shit and refused to promote anything else. Jive was like, fine, and let her promote it with IGTBB because they knew MATM wasn't gonna be it.
Then Jive wanted "Outrageous" as the second single, but offered her IGTBB as a compromise. She said fuck you to both and went with "Toxic." Spoiler alert: same shit, different single with "Everytime." I'm convinced they only signed the Catwoman contract to force her ass to finally release "Outrageous" because they were just over it on principle lmao. I guess they gave up on trying to release IGTBB and planned for "Breathe on Me" to be the fifth— it got serviced to DJs like James Holden and Junior Vasquez. Obviously, that didn't work out, but at least we got all the mixes for it.
I don't think they ever considered "Touch of My Hand," but the label was still stuck on this idea that she could have her ass out and still be family-friendly. "The Hook Up" would've been a good choice too imo. She could've gotten ahead of the Sean Paul moment.

The biggest robbery hands down remains Breathe On Me, forever a killer album track and even she knows it.

I was just listening to Breathe On Me earlier and thinking how much of a fan favourite it is. Great song and it was a breath of fresh air for her at the time.

At the same time, I cannot imagine a world without 'Toxic' and 'Everytime' as singles. IMO, they were spoiled for choice really. That album had so many great options.

There's a reason ITZ is my favorite Britney album. Every song is fire and could have been a single of some kind.

I wish boom boom was the fourth single instead of outrageous. For two reasons, it’s so much better and then the knee blowout wouldn’t have happened.

ITZ was such a moment. I'll never forget the controversy over the "Everytime" video and how everyone thought she was committing suicide in it and not getting the reincarnation aspect.

Showdown Breathe On Me Early Mornin’ Touch Of My Hand Don’t Hang Up
She was really crafting a sound here. Revisit this direction and leave the will.I.am’s and Stargate’s alone.

Toxic is a timeless classic. Sure people remember the BOMT video but I still feel like Toxic is the ultimate culmination of Britney at her highest creative peak (like much of the In The Zone album felt like an evolution).
Breathe on Me and Boom Boom should have been singles.
