“Toxic” is her signature song. Don’t care what anyone says. You ask for Britney at a club, you’re getting that. The only reason it didn’t chart higher is because Billboard was bullish about not counting digital sales. Globally, that song was massive. It’s the song that made people take her seriously as an artist. Showdown Breathe On Me Early Mornin’ Touch Of My Hand Don’t Hang Up She was really crafting a sound here. Revisit this direction and leave the will.I.am’s and Stargate’s alone. ”Showdown” and “The Answer” too. Jive dropped the ball on the latter so hard too. It was supposed to be on the US release, but someone goofed and we got the MATM remix and idr what else that wasn’t that.

My wishful thinking is a 20th Anniversary version this fall that removes the MATM remix and adds the two bonus tracks.

I'd be down for some sort of Vault project where she reworks some scrapped tracks. We have that Mona Lisa era, and you know ITZ and Blackout had a lot of material cut.
But Britney needs to be involved or it won't work. And some of the production would need updates.
Leave the will.i.am stuff out of it.

When “In The Zone” was first released”Toxic” wasn’t even one of my favorites from the album. I liked others better than it, but yes I ended up loving it. I was all about “Outrageous, The Hook Up, I Got That Boom Boom and Showdown”. “Me Against The Music” took me a second a second to get into if I remember correctly. I also was always into “Everytime”. I used to teach dancing around this time period and used 4 songs from this project in two different routines. This and “Blackout” are my two favorite Britney projects. I can still listen to a lot of the tracks and don’t feel like I’m just being Nostalgic. I wish she would go back to music with a more Rhythmic flavor. I think “I’m a Slave For You” is still my favorite by her. I danced to it in a recital along with “Boys”. She’s put out a decent amount of albums. Music wise I suppose she’s one of my favorite artists..

I geeked out so hard the day ITZ dropped. Imagine the jump scare when I heard Brave New Girl. I still pretend that Pepsi jingle doesn't exist. Otherwise, what an incredible body of work and evolution from her filler-full days.

No idea how 'Boom Boom' would've fared at the time as a single, nor do I have any idea how the remixes would sound given what other mixes were coming out of the era (some amazing mixes came out of the songs from that era!). At least we got an absolutely banging bootleg club mix courtesy of Petyasb (whatever happened to him? He was making some quality productions then just fell off the face of the internet).
I do wish Britney didn't wreck her knee and we could've at least had 'Breathe On Me' as single #5.

I wished she leaned harder into the electro-dance spirit of the record, although Jive would have likely rioted. As others alluded to, she was really on to something with Showdown, Breath On Me, Early Morning, Toxic, Touch of My Hand, and Brave New Girl -- the moody ballads of Shadow and Everytime also elevated the album. Felt like Britney was in her Kylie/Madonna era.
Me Against the Music, I've Got That Boom Boom, The Hook Up, and Outrageous sound like they belong to a completely different album.

In The Zone is Britney's best album full stop. It's actually her peak, no skips, gives you pop, dance, R&B, ballads, reggae - and yet somehow still feels cohesive and current af.
Queen.

I honestly don’t know how one decides between ITZ and Blackout for best album. I think it’s a tie. They are both peak Britney musically. I do suppose that the visuals give ITZ an edge though. Lol I think I talked myself out of the tie! Also, Boom Boom and MATM live on TRL is my favorite Britney performance EVER. No snakes. No striptease. Just Britney popping OFF for ten minutes, with live vocals to boot. youtu.be/TQm07pDCmY4

Agree, there's been a lot of talk about (I've Got That) Boom Boom and Outrageous being the 4th or 5th singles because Jive seemed to need an urban single to cash into the music trends at that time, but in an ideal world I wouldn't have minded if Breathe On Me was fourth, and Shadow was the last/fifth single of the era. That would have really been a true era, risks, artistry and all.

I was just listening to Breathe On Me earlier and thinking how much of a fan favourite it is. Great song and it was a breath of fresh air for her at the time. Even Christina Aguilera said it was her favourite Britney song.

Rumors are flying that the reason Britney's book was delayed by 4 months, was due to what she reveals about her relationship with Justin Timberlake (1999 - 2002) and her fling with Colin Farrel (2003). Both contested her accounts of events in her memoir, which caused 10% of the book to be removed from the final page count.
My money wasn't on Colin.

This makes more sense to me than the people saying it was Christina who stopped the book from being published. People have trashed Christina constantly and she is basically still just a complete recluse, never commenting on it or trying to stop it. Justin was a given, but I do wonder what Colin is refuting. It seemed like they had a fling that was borderline just PR-like, they showed up to a few premieres together so what is there to dispute?

I know she hasn't been keen on having her story re-told by all the unauthorized documentaries, but I hope once her book is released, she considers letting some well-known producers/directors televise her story. I can't help thinking that Ryan Murphy's American Crime Story vehicle would be so powerful for her, especially if she adds her voice as a producer. What Ryan did with the OJ, Monica and Andrew/Gianni stories was masterful.
She'll never do it. She never wants to do anything autobiographical, but one could dream.

Unless he is being a shitty person and wants to behave in a "I don't know her" sort of way. He can't suddenly decide that after he used her and then cast her aside that he wants to re-write history to not include her in that. Maybe he wasn't that great in bed.

I really curious as to what type of project the poem she recently posted is intended for. Maybe she actually has another book in the works? Honestly, I'm not convinced they're not lyrics. Or maybe she's gonna do some hybrid; read poetry to music or something.

Max and Luke turned out on Circus, can't even lie. One of the few songs from Circus that are neck to neck and may be even slightly better than the Blackout tracks. Always go back and forth between this one and Gimme More.
The originally choreography for Circus is fire, it wound up getting cut, splintered, and watered-down post music video, and rehearsals but it's one of my favorite dance routines from her.

Dunno if it’s top 10, but it’s up there. The way L*ke layered each chorus to be progressively more chaotic… he was smoking that quality crack. Out of all the songs on the record, “Mannequin” and “Womanizer” might hit harder for me, but it’s close.
It’s a shame Femme Fatale wasn’t nearly as ambitious.

The impact that this song had is huge. I know a lot of posters say that Toxic had the most impact on her later discography (not discounting that), but I actually think a lot of the EDM influences of Britney's work comes from Gimme More. A lot of Britney Jean felt like they were using Blackout and this song particular as a template to work off of. This song is basically being reworked every couple of years to give her another hit with Scream & Shout, Work Bitch, and now Mind Your Business. To worse effect each time.
It's created one of her biggest catchphrases, and I would say it's her song that's appreciated the most in the short-term. In a parallel universe I wonder how big this would have been had she smashed the VMA performance. It maybe could have been her first multi-week number 1 since ...Baby One More Time.
