Her account is fascinating as she really is revealing the whole timeline. From what has been released it sounds like her and Wade only made out? She told Justin what happened, and they moved past it. That really is just nothing, in the grand scheme of things. Keep in mind from her recall the list of events — Justin cheated first, Britney forgave him, and on top of that she aborted their baby for him. Britney was really ride or die for him.

None of this adds up. Definitely nothing to suggest the type of response and narrative Justin created against her. It makes me curious to understand what the reason was for their breakup, because it sounds like Wade wasn’t it?

This really does paint Justin as a complete opportunist. It seems like he wanted to be single to launch his solo career, and he always intended to use Britney so he could break out as a solo star. Either that or Justin is just hella petty, and held this in for months or years before breaking up. 

Edit: Reports are coming in now that Britney had serve grief and trauma after the abortion and would cry in their house bathroom while Justin would listen to her cry and strum his guitar. WTF? This is horrible.

I actually think the “problem” was more Britney not willing to stick up for herself. She could have stopped a lot of this at any time if she was more forceful, and had more boundaries with him it seems. She let him create this narrative unchecked for 21 years, probably because she loved him very much. There’s some interesting parallels to Britney and Beyoncé here after these book drops.

Supposedly she had the power at Jive to completely end Cry Me A River during the editing process. But she chose not to even look at the video, and let Justin’s people have the final edit. She was way too trusting, and she never fought back. There’s only so much PR can do when she was unwilling to engage at all. She reminds me a lot of Janet in that she tends to numb herself to the situation and hide. 

It’s sad, I wish she stood up for herself more, which is why I disagree with some posters when they say Britney should just lie down, take it, and not get involved. She’s done too much of that her whole life.

She did have the power. She talked about it in her RS interview. It sounded like to me that Justin had no actual intention of wanting to get back together, just trying to butter her up so she wouldnt axe the video. 

I don’t want to talk about this at length, but when Justin Timberlake put out his song and video, and then later started talking publicly about your relationship, how did you react? Were you pissed off? Were you hurt?

I think I was in shock, to be honest. I didn’t know what to say, what to do. That was the last thing I ever thought somebody might do. I was really shocked shitless. But you live and you learn

I hadn’t seen it. Then it came out, and I said, “I should’ve freakin’ said no to this shit!” I was so like, “Whoa. What is going on right now?” But, hey. And I said, “Why did you do this?” He goes, ‘Well, I got a controversial video.” And I was like, “You did. [Claps her hands, as if for a dog that just performed a trick.] Yay for you.” So he got what he wanted. [Clears throat] I think it looks like such a desperate attempt, personally. But that was a great way to sell the record. He’s smart [laughs]. Smart guy.

I support her 100% in that choice. They robbed her of her passion for music and performing.

She's been a vehicle used to collect cash for old rich men her whole life, I don't want to hear another record that she isn't behind 100% or isn't in the right head space for. I already feel guilt listening to the existing material we have knowing what she went through.


One thing is true though, she's got amazing fans that will be there to support her if that time to move ahead with music comes, and they will still be there if it doesn't.

Ugh, it's so depressing! Completely outside of her record breaking and iconic discography, wild impact and incredible performing skills, the one thing that comes up over and over and over again is how genuinely sweet and good of a person Britney is. This was a very vulnerable person who was ripe for the picking and bad people seemed to do so over and over again. I just hope she finds happiness now, whatever that means to her.

Also, it's funny to me that she tries to push this somewhat "mature" persona in promos for her TV show (coming off as if she's not as messy as say, Wendy) and then she goes and acts a fool on Bravo like that.

I don't really take this as her not doing music ever again. It sounds like if the situation arises, she's totally here for it, but it needs to be on her own terms, and not just because anyone else wants her to do it.

Looking back I think she was and still is a genuinely kind person. People obviously took advantage of that. Looking back on the Justin stuff is now crazy. Not only how he treated her during that time, but how the media did too.

I can't wait to read the book and I hope she finds some peace.

I hope she finds something she's passionated about again. She's too young to simply retire, I want her to have fun doing whatever it is that she loves.
