I liked Rude (and still think it's okay) but it's burn rate was extremely high for me... Then why is it still at #5 or #6 on your chart

Billboard is a factor You don't have to listen to billboard though, just post what you feel I know, and it's just a partial factor.

I like "Rude" too and it debuted high on my chart in February when it was popular here in Canada and now it's reaching higher because of its Billboard success but I feel like it won't last too long...songs like "Counting Stars" and "Radioactive" clearly have much better longevity.

I still like Rude and think it's a great summer song. People on here probably listen to more music than the average and get burned out quicker.

Considering all the backlash it's getting now it seems like one of those songs that people could look back on 5 years from now and say "Why the f**k did I like this s**t?" And despite both the backlash and the overplay, on the callout scores in the Pop section Rude has one of the lower negative scores with a 22.5 negative score and only a 9.5 Burn Rate, so it might surprisingly have some longevity

I didn't even listen to "Rude" that much and it burned on me. I think I heard it like five times on my local CHR station and I had already begun to dislike it.

Soulja Slim was killed in front of his mom's house just before Slow Motion hit big. Soulja Boy is well Soulja Boy. Also @gagalicious, Laffy Taffy, Crack a Bottle and Bump, Bump, Bump are the most irrelevant #1s of the century.

Let's just call it a 4 way tie "Slow Motion" was one of the few Hot 100 #1's of the century I had never heard of before following charts.

Slow Motion being #1 ten years ago reminds me that Billboard article whining "where are the summer smashes such as Get Lucky and Call Me Maybe this year"... well there just can't be one every year. There wasn't such a thing in 2004 and the society has survived.

I forgot that Slow Motion hit the top, I always think that Lean Back was what knocked Confessions off.

I think they have their own cut off date to define a summer hit. Was it in the beginning of July, maybe 4th of July or sth (too lazy to check the article lol)

Gipp f/Cee Lo "Shine Like Gold" (Epic)
I really hope this one blows up. Such a nice little bop.

All the above named obscure #1 songs of the century are pretty good, but have we all forgotten about Taylor Hicks' "Do I Make You Proud"??????? Yes, that was a number one song…and it was so bad it permanently ended coronation songs hitting the top.
