The latest country song to get the featuring remix treatment is Jake Owen's Beachin'. The pop version features Mike Posner and T-Pain.

Why? this song doens't need anything to crossover, it's just a summer jam. Frankly the rap verse tendency is becoming pathetic.
Since Wanted wich i think it crossover without changing anything, the rest of country crossover got a rap verse in the song.
I know over and over was a big hit, but that was a real collaboration and not something absurd to make your song more apt for pop audiences

This trend is getting copycat and desperate. Would somebody be origonal for a change? Whats next, Hunter Hayes and Nikki Minaj mixing "Tattoo"?

I highly doubt Hunter Hayes will go there, but he needs to start to look at pop charts because it's pretty obivous that he is not the favourite of the people who own country radio stations, no matter how much he sold, his singles underperform in country chart, maybe he needs to buy some boots and a cowboy hat to change that
And i hope Dierks Bentley (Drunk on a plane will be the next to crossover, that song will be numnber one on country soon and is selling really well right not) don't do it either

I was hoping it was hot, given that I like songs from the three of them, but unfortunately it's a not for me.

These are beginning to sound like April's Fools Jokes. The original is fine the way it is.

Gosh! Too stunned to even start with my usual ranting... In the country spectrum "Beachin'" was already very, very "poppy". Who is next in line? Probably Joe Nichol's "Yeah".

This got to be stopped, why every label is so desperate to use feature rap artist to boost country songs pop airplay?

Since Wanted wich i think it crossover without changing anything, the rest of country crossover got a rap verse in the song. I know over and over was a big hit, but that was a real collaboration and not something absurd to make your song more apt for pop audiences One of the most successful crossover efforts ever for a country artist was the 2004 "Over and Over Again" duet between Tim McGraw and Nelly. It wasn't necessarily "rap," but it had a hip-hop feel and featured a rapper singing with a country artist. So that's where the concept originates. Plus, there have LONG been discussions about the conceptual similarities between rap music and country music. This remix just feels weird though - T-Pain's verse is really amelodic and makes the song seem LESS accessible than it was on its own. Mike Posner actually flows pretty well with the beat, but his voice is SO unbelievably grating. How could anyone enjoy listening to him?

Interesting, so will country fans shun this guy now? I know many are very territorial and tend to shut artists out who look for pop success.

God, this trend needed to stop like, yesterday.
Nobody is gonna take these remixes seriously; if anything it just seems to hurt the credibility of the Country act involved.
Sad that labels/artists are willing to go THIS low just to service a song to Pop radio that they probably won't even touch, anyway.
It seems like ever since the crossover success of " Cruise" everyone else insists on selling themselves out with rappers to try and get a hit. Thank God it doesn't seem to be working so far.

I don't see how this is any worse than pop artists making cheap remixes with rappers.

Mike Posner actually flows pretty well with the beat, but his voice is SO unbelievably grating. How could anyone enjoy listening to him? I never liked Over and over, but there was a very different vibe from that song that what i get from this crossovers. In my opinion that was a legit collaboration, it was an experiment and both artist wanted to do it. And of course there was a balance. And people could search for the similarities between rap and country music (and there are some, like how monothematic some country singers and some rappers are, the same type of song again and again and again with the same type of lyrics), but in so many aspects they are quite the opposite, and you need to work hard to make them mix up with success I don't see absolutely nothing of that on Cruise, this is how we roll, Bottoms up and all the rest, just the lazy rap verse in the same sense so many pop divas seem addicted. It's like, i don't know what to do after the second chorus so lets call a rapper to rap some verses, no matter if that fits the song or not. In my opinion the wost part is that most of that songs didn't need the rap verse at all because they are nearer to pop that some Taylor Swift smashes Given how well they are selling i expect Drunk on a plane and Leave the night on to try to crossover, hopefully without a rap verse. To be honest, the songs that are searching pop success right now are the types that are dominating country chart for a while, but frankly i don't think they are the type of artist or the type of songs that will do well on pop right now. I still think people like Kacey Musgraves or Hunter Hayes have more probabilities to find a place on pop radio than most male singers that are hot on country radio right now

"Invisible" sold gold. It didn't go top ten but it's the summer season. "Tattoo" is already tracking as a hit. As for this. It's not bad but T-Pain? Yeesh.

Invisible sold a lot, but in country airplay underperform, specially because it was released after several big hits. And Tatto is struggling to rise. One could think that someone who was celebrated as the next country big talent should have more love from country radio. I don't know if it's his looks that are not too country, if has not enough twang, if he doesn't have enough lyrics about trucks, tractors, whiskey and beer, but frankly given his sales and previous hits i would expect country radio swallow his songs without hesitation, and that's not what it's happening

I understand what RCA is trying to do here. Basically strike while the iron's hot and capitalize on the remix trend to pop radio, but unfortunately for them this one I feel is the one where this trend officially dies a horrible death (and rightfully so). The fact we're almost to August doesn't exactly help the timing of a song called "Beachin'" either. But that won't matter as I expect this to do very little at pop radio.
