^Thinking about it, what could be more boring than listening to Riptide or Budapest without understanding the lyrics - I think it makes sense that when you listen to music sung in a language you don't completely understand (or don't understand at all), you would want to hear some excitement in the guitar riffs, synth beat, etc.
Foals makes perfect sense to me, bc the guitar riffs are catchy and the band sounds IMO flawless, but I feel like the lyrics are kind of made up as they go along - and Disturbed, Breaking Benjamin, and I think even Molecules are exciting to listen to whether or not you understand what they're singing about

This will probably be the Billboard #1 this week, she's still #1 on Billboard Real Time Tracker.

Has there ever been a tie? The chances of a tie are extremely unlikely. If they both happen to have the same amount of spins, then the song with the larger bullet will trump the other. If by some very off chance that both songs have the same bullet, then the tiebreaker would most likely be the audience impressions.

And what if that's tied lol It actually was tied on Mediabase yesterday, lmao. They were both at 11.41M.

And what if that's tied lol then they default to a Pulse Rock Board vote to determine the #1. Sorry Elle King :(

And what if that's tied lol Like I said, the chances of all three determinants being the same are very very very unlikely. But in a one-in-a-billion chance that it occurs, I would guess that they would be placed either by biggest growth in A.I. or put in alphabetical order.

I'd say last week's position would play a factor if it was ever tied like that.

Daughter to comedian Rob Schneider. Can't help thinking that's why she got the push she did?

#1 on Alternative: 2 1 ELLE KING Ex's and Oh's 3053 2888 165 12.034 nothing on alt surprises me anymore. besides it seems like the best way to remind us that the Alternative Rock charts are no longer called that, nor Modern Rock. In face the word "Rock" has been illimanated from the charts name all together. It's just Alternative now. Like saying Alternative to anything else I guess? If you thnk about it. The Alt chart of today kinda resembles a little of all our Personal Charts. We all have Pop songs in there as well.

Fun fact: Nearly every Alt. #1 with female vocals smashed on Pop as well, and this is likely going to do the same. In fact the only big Alt. hit with female vocalists that didn't do anything on pop is "Fall in Love".

#1 selling alt single at itunes. appropriate that this reaches #1. Good look for the format to break a big money record, as they did with Hozier, Vance Joy, Walk The Moon etc. Great to see a female artist hit #1. Elle King is only the second in ages, after Lorde a couple of years ago.

I don't really understand the hate for this song on here. It's got some guitar in it and it's pretty catchy. It's more "rock" than "Renegades" or "2 Heads", yet "2 Heads" has been getting some love.

I think that was a moderately-sized pop hit.

Well, it still charted. I remember it making the Hot 100 top 40 -- or it might have been Hot 100 Airplay.

Not a lot of people actually said they hate this song (I don't think) - most of the negative stuff is just saying that it's not really Alternative
The thread for 2 Heads, on the other hand, has a lot of posts strongly disliking the song itself

I didn't realize it even made the pop chart at all. Not too shabby. I remember it on the MTV VMAs from that year.
Is the 1996 VMAs streamable anywhere I wonder? lol
