www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/rumormill.cgiNEW RELEASES: It could be another battle for #1 as week to date sales suggest Wiz Khalifa and the Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix, Vol.1 soundtrack will both land in the 70-80k range. You'll also note the addition of another Various Artists contender, Big Machine's Mötley Crüe Nashville salute. Here are this week's key debuts, with a glass of Jack to accompany some of the week's hard-partying releases. Wiz Khalifa (Atlantic) 70-80k Chase Rice (Dack Janiels/Thirty Tigers/Sony Nashville) 37-40k Nashville Outlaws: A Tribute to Mötley Crüe (Big Machine) 28-31k Ace Frehley (eOne) 17-20k Smokey Robinson (Verve) 9-11k Imogen Heap (RCA) 8-10k Colton Dixon (Sparrow) 8-10k As for singles, Taylor Swift's ultra-Pop track "Shake It Off," appears headed to the 425-450k range in its opening week. The first single from her previous album, Red, opened with 623k in August 2012. Oh, and in honor of Ace Frehley's new record we'll be working in our Space Ace makeup. (8/20a)

www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6221998/wiz-khalifa-first-number-1-blacc-hollywoodWiz Khalifa Rolling Toward First No. 1 AlbumBy Keith Caulfield | August 20, 2014 6:48 PM EDT The rapper's new 'Blacc Hollywood' could start atop the Billboard 200 next week, selling around 80,000 copies. Hip-hop star Wiz Khalifa is on track to snare his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200. Industry sources forecast his new release, Blacc Hollywood, to sell perhaps 80,000 copies in the week ending Aug. 24. The new album is his third studio effort and follows two No. 2-peaking titles: Rolling Papers in 2011 and O.N.I.F.C. in 2012. Both opened in the runner-up slot, selling 197,000 and 141,000 copies in their first weeks, according to Nielsen SoundScan, respectively. The Billboard 200's new top 10 will be revealed on Wednesday, Aug. 27. The current chart champ, the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack, will likely dip out of the top slot, though it's too early to tell what it might sell for the week. Other notable new debuts next week should include country singer Chase Rice, with his Ignite the Night album (around 40,000) and the new Motley Crue tribute album Nashville Outlaws (25,000).

With all the hype around this album and her 1st one having very good 1st week sales. I would think anything under 200 thousand would be a disappointment.

^No. It's 2014. Streaming has seriously cut into album/single sales.
Everyone needs to lower their expectations... Remember last Fall when we were told that GaGa and Katy would both open with 400k? Didn't happen.
I am keeping my expectations reasonable.

Wiz's sales have dropped consistently as his quality of music drops consistently. Either way, congrats to him on the #1. www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/newsPage.cgi REPUBLIC DOES EVERYTHING FOR ARIANA ROLLOUT When the album streets on 8/25—the day after she gets some very big VMA looks—it will unquestionably be her second #1 bow, with forecasts in the 150-200k range. What? 150-200k? That's insanity. She should be moving AT LEAST 400k. If they hadn't waited so long to release the album and dropped it right around the time of the "Break Free" release, I think she would have.

People seem to forget Ariannas first album is a little under 500k sold . She isn't going to open above 300k but at least her fan base is growing and this album will likley outsell her first in the long run

www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6229139/motley-crue-tribute-album-chartMotley Crue Tribute Set for Rocking Debut on Billboard 200By Keith Caulfield | August 22, 2014 7:39 PM EDT The country-meets-rock tribute album to Motley Crue is heading for a top 10 debut on the Billboard 200 chart. Paging all "Girls, Girls, Girls!" The new Motley Crue tribute album is heading for the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart. Industry forecasters suggest Nashville Outlaws: A Tribute to Motley Crue -- which features the likes of Florida Georgia Line, Justin Moore and Darius Rucker covering the rock band's catalog -- could sell 30,000 copies in the week ending Aug. 24. Released on Big Machine Records, the set also includes reworkings by acts like Rascal Flatts ("Kickstart My Heart"), Brantley Gilbert ("Girls, Girls, Girls") and LeAnn Rimes ("Smokin' In the Boys Room"). The Billboard 200's new top 10 will be revealed on Wednesday, Aug. 27. As for the No. 1 album next week, look for Wiz Khalifa's new Blacc Hollywood to enter atop the list. It will give the hip-hop star his first leader, after two previous No. 2-peaking albums. The chart's current No. 1, the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack, may slip to No. 2 with 65,000 or so. Also on tap for high new entries are country singer Chase Rice's new Ignite the Night and former Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley with Space Invader. The former might sell around 40,000, while Frehley might move 18,000. On SoundScan's Building chart (below), Khalifa and Rice are Nos. 1 and 2, respectively. The Building tally is a precursor to the final Billboard 200 ranking -- reflecting the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week as reported by six major merchants. As for the rest of the Building chart's top 10, the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack is No. 3, followed by the Crue tribute at No. 4 and the Now 51 compilation at No. 5. 5 Seconds of Summer's self-titled album is No. 6, while the Frozen soundtrack is No. 7 and Sam Smith's In the Lonely Hour is No. 8. Frehley is No. 9, and Ed Sheeran's x rounds out the top 10 at No. 10.

Her first album also didn't have singers anywhere near the success of Problem, Break Free, and Bang Bang though. If she opens at less than 150k, I think it would be a disappointment.

However I think for HER particular cd with all the hype, huge singles, fanbase and commercials for this project that 125-150 thousand would be a disappointment. I agree with you that streaming etc has cut into sales but the wave she's riding on right now seems like her sales should be higher.

It's 150-200k. Very good for a 2nd album.
It's going to be an interesting week!
