Finally, the top of the chart gets shaken up. I hope "Rude" continues to tumble.

Codex, it's no less hilarious seeing it at No. 2, is it? :) Slightly less. But still hilarious, I was expecting #4-5, I thought the US ratio would be smaller. I would have loved if she could have finally gotten her first #1 though :(

Huge streaming numbers for "Anaconda." They shouldn't have released the video the same week as Taylor Swift's debut week.

Well, it's officially time to say goodbye to the starters of the summer. I was completely not expecting both "Fancy" and "Problem" to crash. I would've guessed "Chandelier" and either "Break Free" or "Black Widow" would be the ones to fall out if "Shake it Off" and "Anaconda" surged.

#1 is not out of reach, but I'm glad to see Nicki have a solo #2 single.

Has Pharrell announced a 3rd single?
Columbia has dropped the ball, if you ask me.
G I R L is now over 500k sold.

Well, it's a solo credited, but we cannot deny the presence of the legendary Sir Mix-a-Lot on "Anaconda."
"Black Widow" has never been No. 1 yet, so how could it reclaim the throne? Unless you mean Iggy A. ;)

#1 is not out of reach, but I'm glad to see Nicki have a solo #2 single. I wouldn't mind seeing this slay at the top, but honestly I think its best shot was this week. It would need drastic bumps in airplay, streaming, and sales to topple the chart now that the novelty of the video has worn off a bit.

Following yesterday's video premiere, Bang Bang will surely jump to the top 5 next week; maybe even top 3 or who knows, #1? I sure hope AATB will still be able to get #1. It now has a disadvantage against SIO in sales, streaming AND airplay...unless it can somehow jump SIO in at least two of the three, its chances now are looking slim...

Oh wow at "Anaconda" being Nicki's highest peaking song. Hopefully she gets a number one at some point. And I'm loving that drop for "Rude". The faster it leaves the better.

Chart Watch: Taylor Swift's Instant #1Taylor Swift's “Shake It Off” becomes the first song in 18 months to enter the Hot 100 at #1. The last song to achieve the feat was Baauer's viral sensation “Harlem Shake” in March 2013. “Shake It Off” is the first song by a female artist to debut at #1 since Katy Perry's “Part Of Me” in March 2012. This is Swift’s second #1 on the Hot 100; her first to debut at #1. “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” shot from #72 to #1 in its second week in August 2012. While dozens of albums debut at #1 every year on The Billboard 200, it’s still a fairly rare event for a single to enter the Hot 100 at #1. Since September 1995, when Michael Jackson's “You Are Not Alone” became the first single to debut at #1, just 22 singles have achieved this feat. Mariah Carey has three of them, more than any other artist. Britney Spears is in second place, with two. Swift is the only the second country music star to debut at #1 on the Hot 100. The first was Carrie Underwood, who debuted in the top spot in July 2005 with “Inside Your Heaven,” her American Idol coronation song. (Technically, Underwood was a future country star at that point, though she had made her country leanings clear on Idol with performances of songs by Martina McBride, Shania Twain and Jo Dee Messina, among others.) Despite Swift’s track record in country (seven #1 hits on Hot Country Songs), country radio is giving “Shake It Off” the cold shoulder. The overtly poppy song has yet to enter the Hot Country Songs chart. This isn’t the first time that a Swift single has been too pop for country radio. Two of her previous singles made the top 10 on the Hot 100 but never cracked Hot Country Songs: “You Belong With Me.,” which reached #2 on the Hot 100, and “If This Was A Movie,” which reached #10. [Except the latter wasn't a single, Paul]"Shake It Off" sold 544K copies in its first week, which constitutes the biggest one-week tally since Katy Perry's “Roar” sold 557K copies in its first week in August 2013. (Both singers performed these songs on the VMAs telecasts in those years.) Moreover, this is the fourth-highest first-week tally in digital history. It trails Flo Rida's “Right Round” (636K in February 2009), Swift's “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together (623K in August 2012) and “Roar.” It goes without saying that “Shake It Off” enters Hot Digital Songs at #1. It’s Swift’s seventh #1 on that chart, which puts her in a tie with Britney Spears for fourth place. Rihanna has had the most #1 digital hits (13), followed by Katy Perry (10) and Eminem (nine). "Shake It Off" replaces MAGIC!'s “Rude” at #1 on the Hot 100. The pop/reggae smash was on top for the past six weeks. "Shake If Off" is Swift’s 60th Hot 100 single. Only one female artist, Aretha Franklin, has had more. The Queen of Soul had 73 Hot 100 hits between 1961 and 1998 (and will hopefully add to her tally in the future). "Shake It Off" has the same title as a Mariah Carey hit (#2 in 2005), but its theme may be closer to Jay Z's “Dirt Off Your Shoulder” (#5 in 2004). "Shake It Off" is the first single from Swift’s fifth studio album 1989, which is due Oct 27. Swift’s four previous studio albums were also released right around that date (between Oct. 22 and Nov. 11). The reason is pretty obvious: Sales are traditionally at their peak between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Trivia Time: Swift is the second artist named “Taylor” to debut at #1 on the Hot 100. Taylor Hicks achieved the feat in July 2006 with his American Idol coronation single, “Do I Make You Proud.” Hicks’s single logged just eight weeks on the Hot 100, which gives it a dubious distinction. That’s the shortest chart run of any #1 hit in Hot 100 history, according to Joel Whitburn’s Top Pop Singles 1955-2012. music.yahoo.com/blogs/chart-watch/chart-watch-taylor-swifts-instant-1-192723660.html

Oh wow at "Anaconda" being Nicki's highest peaking song. Hopefully she gets a number one at some point. Hopefully it will be something closer to Turn Me On or Starships or Moment 4 Life or Super Bass and a lot farther from Anaconda or Stupid Hoe lol...kinda disappointed in the fact that Anaconda is her highest peaking song tbh. And not to start a rant about streaming again, but I truly feel like Starships and Super Bass and even Turn Me On felt quite bigger at the time than Anaconda does now. I guess majority of people like Nicki for her big ass lol. I feel like the Hot 100 is becoming more the 100 most advertised songs rather than 100 most popular...but oh well, that's my opinion anyway

I wonder when Billboard will make up their mind about "I'm Your Angel". They never mention it as a big jump to #1, nor as a debut. What is it then? The limbo song? LOL
(I mention this because that would leave Mariah, Britney and Celine with the most #1 debuts, as per that article. I have sent letters to Billboard about this matter a million times but it's never been answered.)
I sent another trivia question to Billboard... let's see if they answer again.

I would prefer something sounding like one of those, but it can be even less pop friendly. As for it not seeming as big, in a way it is. I'm not the biggest fan of it, but the video is obviously drawing attention for her and the song. It's still a hit for her, and kudos to her for getting a number two hit.
