hopefully Break Free falls fast enough for Rather Be to reach #1 on Dance/Electronic Songs, although I doubt that will happen :( and don't get me wrong, I love Break Free but I do also want Rather Be to reach #1 on that chart...

Chart Watch: All About That Transatlantic #1

Meghan Trainor's “All About That Bass” tops Billboard's Hot 100 for the fifth week and vaults from #33 to #1 on the U.K.'s Official Singles Chart. Meghan, 20, is the youngest artist to have a transatlantic #1 hit since Lorde, then 16, reached #1 in both the U.S. and the U.K. in the fall of 2013 with “Royals.” Trainor is the youngest American solo artist to have a transatlantic #1 since Christina Aguilera, who was 18 when she scored in 1999 with “Genie In A Bottle.”

"All About That Bass" is the third debut hit to become a transatlantic #1 in the last 12 months. It follows "Royals" and MAGIC!'s “Rude.” It's the first debut hit by an American act to become a transatlantic #1 since “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis featuring Wanz in early 2012.

Female artists lock up the top six spots on the Hot 100 for the first time in more than 15 years. Taylor Swift's “Shake It Off” holds at #2 for the fifth week. Iggy Azalea's “Black Widow” (featuring Rita Ora) jumps from #4 to #3. Jessie J, Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj's “Bang Bang” (which has climbed as high as #3) rebounds from #5 to #4. Nicki Minaj's “Anaconda” (which peaked at #2) drops from #3 to #5. And Tove Lo's “Habits (Stay High)” jumps from #7 to #6.

This is the first time that female artists have locked up the top six spots since the issue dated Feb. 27, 1999, when the hottest hits were Monica's “Angel Of Mine,” Cher's “Believe,” Whitney Houston's “Heartbreak Hotel” (featuring Faith Evans & Kelly Price), Britney Spears' “…Baby One More Time,” Sarah McLachlan's “Angel” and Deborah Cox's “Nobody's Supposed To Be Here.”

"All About That Bass" is the longest-running #1 by a female solo artist since Iggy Azalea's “Fancy” (featuring Charli XCX) had seven weeks on top this summer. It’s the longest-running #1 by an American female solo artist in the lead position since Katy Perry's “E.T.” (featuring Kanye West) had five weeks on top in the spring of 2011.

Trainor’s charming smash continues to lead all three of the charts that feed the Hot 100. It heads Digital Songs for a sixth week (202K), Streaming Songs for a fifth week and Radio Songs for a third week. Only one other song—Pharrell Williams's “Happy” has had six or more weeks at #1 on Digital Songs so far this year. “Happy” led that list for 11 weeks.

"Black Widow" moves up to #1 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, displacing "Anaconda." Minaj’s smash had bumped Azalea’s previous hit, "Fancy," from the top spot on that chart. No male artist has headed the R&B/Hip-Hop chart (even as a featured artist) since John Legend's “All Of Me” wrapped up a three-week run on top at the end of May.

"Anaconda" tops the 1 million mark in digital sales this week.

Jeremih's “Don't Tell 'Em” (featuring YG) jumps from #9 to #7 in its 15th week on the Hot 100. It’s the week’s highest-ranking song by a male artist or group, a distinction that had been held by Sam Smith's “Stay With Me” for the past six weeks.

Maroon 5 lands its 10th top 10 hit as “Animals” jumps from #33 to #8 in its seventh week, in the wake of the Sept. 29 premiere of the song’s gory video and the group’s performance of the song on Saturday Night Live on Oct. 4. Seven of those top 10 hits have come since Adam Levine became a TV star on The Voice, which debuted in April 2011. “Moves Like Jagger,” Maroon 5’s collabo with Christina Aguilera, entered the Hot 100 at #8 two months later.

"Animals" is the Maroon 5’s second top 10 hit from its current album, V. Each of the group’s five studio albums has spawned one or more top 10 hits. Three of the group’s five albums have spawned two or more.

Sam Smith's “Stay With Me” dips from #6 to #9 in its 26th week … Ariana Grande's “Break Free” (featuring Zedd) dips from #8 to #10 in its 14th week. It’s #1 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs for an eighth week.

Clean Bandit's “Rather Be” (featuring Jess Glynne) drops out of the top 10 after a single week at #10.

One Direction has this week’s top new entry as “Steal My Girl” debuts at #13. It’s from the boy band’s fourth studio album, boringly titled Four, which is due Nov. 17. “Steal My Girl” is vying to become the group’s fifth top 10 hit. Each of the group’s first three albums entered The Billboard 200 at #1 and spawned one or more top 10 hits.

Florida Georgia Line's ”Dirt” and Jason Aldean's “Burnin' It Down” both top the 1 million mark in digital sales this week. “Dirt” peaked at #11 on the Hot 100. “Burnin' It Down” has climbed as high as #12. “Dirt” spent two weeks at #1 on Hot Country Songs. “Burnin' It Down” has spent 10 weeks on top.

Now my hope (although it probably won't happen) is that Rather Be would reach number one on Dance/Electronic Songs :( and I really like Break Free so I feel really bad for having to cheer on its falling lol :(

Yep! Some of my favorite songs stalled at #11 for several weeks without reaching the top 10 (Best Day of My Life, Same Love) :( it's almost as annoying as my favorite songs stalling at #2 and not peaking at #1 lol

Services measured by Nielsen Entertainment and contributing to the host of streaming charts are YouTube (including Vevo on YouTube), Spotify, Muve Music, Slacker, Rhapsody, Rdio, MySpace, Xbox Music and Guvera.

It has since expanded since that article to include Deezer, Google Play and Sony Music Unlimited since they launched afterwards in 2013. I believe Amazon Prime is now monitored as well since they launched earlier this year. Vevo is via YouTube.

Chart is anchored by Carrie Underwood, Jason Aldean, and Florida Georgia Line.

There’s clearly “Something In The Water” this week as Carrie Underwood takes home the top sales slot with her powerful and soul-stirring ballad. She knocks the dominance from Jason Aldean at the top of the Top 30 Digital Singles chart with the single. Aldean, though, has three singles in the Top 10 and six out of the Top 30. His buddies Florida Georgia Line have 3 tracks in the Top 10 with five tracks inside the Top 30. Aldean holds down the #2 and #4 slots this week with new single “Just Gettin’ Started” and “Burnin’ It Down” while Florida Georgia Line holds the #3 and #5 slots with “Bumpin’ The Night” and “Dirt.” Aldean’s “Burnin’ It Down” is the star’s fastest-rising Platinum-certified hit to date. The same can be said about “Dirt” as it’ll surpass Platinum this week.
Top 10 Notes

Kenny Chesney’s “American Kids” jumps back into the Top 10 to #6 and has scanned nearly 1,000,000 downloads. at #7 this week is the 600k selling fast-rising radio hit “Leave The Night On” from Sam Hunt. Blake Shelton’s “Neon Light” surpassed the 200k sales mark this week, the same week Bringing Back The Sunshine sits at #1 on the album sales chart. Jason Aldean has the #9 slot with “Tonight Looks Good On You” having sold 115k in two weeks (most of his iTunes pre-sale tracks have sold well over 100k, remarkable sales numbers for any artist, let alone a country music star. Florida Georgia Line’s “Anything Goes” rounds out the Top 10 with sales now at 81k after two weeks.
