I've always found him really attractive for some odd reason.

He did "Ships in the Night," right? That was killer.

Hey Mama is one of my favorite records of this decade. Can't wait to hear this new project in full.

"Heartbeat" is so good. It's SCREAMING to crossover to Top 40. With the right push and strategy I think it could.
I remember seeing him perform live at a Carrabba's Italian Grill years ago before NLTL came out, LMAO. He was HILARIOUS and so sexy in person.

11. "The Conversation" (feat. Young Summer) While I don't love either of the two tracks already released, I'm really excited for this one - Young Summer has a great voice and her album Siren is really good pop.

11. "The Conversation" (feat. Young Summer) While I don't love either of the two tracks already released, I'm really excited for this one - Young Summer has a great voice and her album Siren is really good pop. Didn't know who she was, so I looked her up and really like her voice. I think her and Mat will match up perfectly. With the two released songs, I totally agree. While they're not bad, they're just definitely not his best. They'd be good album tracks, but as singles I don't care for them ("Just Kids" isn't really a single yet, but you know what I mean).

"One Black Sheep" is available now, and was premiered earlier today by Paste Magazine.I don't like this either. :( :( :( :( :( :( He's 0 for 3 on memorable ones for me. All three released so far are just okay. This is my least favorite of the bunch.

"Los Angeles" is available to stream through VEVO: vevo.ly/NQeeLuYet another one I don't care for either. This is ahead of "One Black Sheep" for me, but lower than "Heartbeat" and "Just Kids". I might pass on the album... :(

I prefer his older stuff and am glad he's getting back to the spoken word verses on more of his songs. He's definitely worth seeing live; I won't miss the chance if he comes this way again.

I don't dislike any of them really. I just don't find any of them all that special. I guess "Ships In the Night" (and Young Love really) gave me high standards for him since that is how I discovered him. I do like his old music a lot too. Something about these haven't hit me yet. My ranking: 1. "Heartbeat" 2. "Just Kids" (these two are close, pretty interchangeable for me) 3. "Los Angeles" 4. "One Black Sheep" Haven't heard "One Heart" yet, but I hope it's good lol. "Down" was one of my favorites from the last album.

FINALLY. A song I actually like. It's not on the level of his past albums, but this is finally a song I can get into. The white boy rap works on this.

Looks like he released the least memorable ones (save "Billion") first. Listening to the previews right now, and the album is pretty good. It's like a cross between Young Love and Nothing Left to Lose with a bit of different influences mixed in.
What I liked: "Billion", "Ghost", "Miss You", "The Conversation", "One Heart"
I'm buying this at Target tomorrow, so I'll post again on what I think later this week.

After first listen, I had to make a post on here.
Regardless of what people might think of the direction of this album or how much they enjoy the songs, there's no denying that this album has superb production.
Mat and whoever else worked with him really did some impressive work with all the synths and drum lines and chord progressions. Mat's songs have a lot of diversity and utilize a lot of different sounds and they are blended extremely well on this album.

I picked up the Target version! $9.99 with the 2 bonus tracks is a great deal! Very excited to listen to this! Heartbeat was good at first, but it had a pretty fast burn rate for me. I just started listening to Billion this week and I think it is already more enjoyable than Heartbeat.

Let It Rain ALONE makes this worth the purchase. That song speaks deeply to me.

Debuts at #20 on the Billboard 200. Now that I've given this album a week to sit in, I think this might be my favorite of his. Despite the first 4 singles/promo singles being very uninteresting, the rest of the album was very good and made up for them. I like that he went back to his rapping style, but it's a lot more improved now than it was back then. This album is like a cross between Nothing Left to Lose and Young Love, having the rap and simplicity of the former, and the poppiness of the latter, but it works really well. "Moving On" might be the "Ships In the Night" of the album (despite "Billion" being my favorite), everything about it is great. I looove the production on this and I always like what Mat makes with it (ex. the drums).
Ranking: 1. "Billion" 2. "Moving On" 3. "Miss You" 4. "One Heart" 5. "Ghost" 6. "Coming Home (Oregon)" 7. "Air I Breathe" 8. "Just Kids" 9. "Heartbeat" 10. "The Conversation" 11. "Heartbreak Dreamer" 12. "Los Angeles" 13. "Let It Rain" 14. "One Black Sheep" 15. "Shasta"
