"Don't" may have gone back up to #11, but he didn't mention it because it isn't a new peak, which in most cases is the only time he mentions a rise. I thought that too at first but then I realized he mentioned Happy even though it didn't peak at #37 That one was probably just because it was a pretty decent jump for such an old song. He occasionally mentions moves like that as well.

But she could still get more points from on-demand. She's being kinda money-greedy. Ok, so she should be losing money to get more points for Billboard charts? But she didn't, so Shake it Off is #3 this week instead of #2? I don't know how she'll be able to live with that.

You have a funny way of looking at it if you think an extra $15,000 in streaming revenue in a week is losing her money. You'd be really naive to say that avoiding Spotify is not increasing her singles and albums sales. Do you really think she and her label would take her music off Spotify if it was profitable for her?

She did it because she makes so much money off of cd sales, airplay and touring, and she can afford it. Other artists probably can't.

That they're making bad business moves?

You'd be really naive to say that avoiding Spotify is not increasing her singles and albums sales. Do you really think she and her label would take her music off Spotify if it was profitable for her? They've left it on less profitable services like Pandora and iTunes Radio so... Pandora and iTunes Radio don't have all the functionality that Spotify does though right? (That I recall, been a long while since I have used either one). You can't choose one specific song/album in those services, never mind pick one song or album and put it on repeat, and they even limit the number of thumbs down you can give to songs in a certain span of time. They are not much different from "regular" radio, where hearing a song hopefully spurs a person to want to buy the song and check out the album. This is different from Spotify, which allows you to listen to choose one song or album to listen to as much as you want, or to form your own playlists rather than being 'given' a playlist based on one artist. Of course, if you are into that sort of thing, Spotify does have that option too...but the on-demand part of it discourages the desire to purchase because, well, why would you have to? Not to mention that Pandora and iTunes Radio, based on the number of users, are simply not threats on the level that Spotify is. (edit: this isn't an anti-Spotify stance on my own part, just to be clear) Taylor might get $15k from Spotify streaming but if she feels she would make $20-$30k by not streaming and raking in more album sales, then it's within reason and her right to go for the $20-$30k. Not sure how we got sidetracked to this though since I think the original point was that it seems silly to chastise Taylor for being "money greedy" instead of chasing after chart points (which in itself is a type of greed). She just made history replacing herself at #1 but people are kvetching because she didn't bust her ass to make sure she had the top two songs, as if somehow what she is doing isn't enough. Somehow I'm supposed to believe Taylor is the only one who is greedy and has a problem? ijs, a little perspective is needed. At least Taylor's supposed greed leads to a tangible result (more money to buy little soaps with). As a consumer and fan of her music we gain nothing from her chart positions.

As if having the top 2 songs was like a huge achievement and would make any difference, specially considering Shake it Off has already spent multiple weeks at #1, so it's not that it could have reached a new peak or something. People at Pulse care too much about random chart stats that they somethimes believe the artists should be going out of their ways to guarantee mention in chart trivia.
