I wonder if she'll tour or do a few gigs, some festivals during this year. To keep her name afloat, still be interactive. Knowing Gaga, she does not want to be on hush hush for a lengthy time w/o doing anything. I can't really say I'm upset about the gap for new music. If it means she will continue to deliver those stellar songs & dominated the radio waves & charts again, I'm all for it.

I thought she was supposed to perform at Selma with R.Kelly after Obama's speech? Was that false information?

So I teach a class that has a unit on art and music and how it is a reflection of culture. We were talking about what makes an artist a legend and how that is tied with perceptions of the time period or cultural moments. Anyway, I always ask who they think will, eventually, be a "legend" from this time period or remembered. I swear to God almost every single person agreed that Gaga is a shoe-in and is basically on Madonna status already. This was from no prodding of my own The other two names mentioned were Miley Cyrus and Maroon 5. I am not sure if any of the three will last and become legends, but I can see why they named them all. Miley Cyrus, to them, is basically their Britney. They are at the age where they grew up with Miley on Hannah Montana and then were genuinely shocked with We Can't Stop and everything else. Maroon 5...seemed like an odd choice to me, but they said they have been popular for a long time and sound like no other band out there. It is always just interesting to see what they say about pop music today lol. It makes me feel old though because none of them give a s**t about Britney and Christina :( Then I felt even older when I did the math and some of them were not even BORN until Madonna was already six albums deep into her career. None of them had ever seen the Like a Prayer video so I made them watch it, ha ha.

Stephen Sondheim, the award-winning 84-year-old composer of shows like "Sweeney Todd" and "Into the Woods," slammed the pop star's performance in a recent interview with British newspaper The Times. "On the Academy Awards she was a travesty," Sondheim said. "It was ridiculous, as it would be from any singer who treats that music in semi-operatic style. She had no relationship to what she was singing. What people liked was her versatility." Gaga's tribute was greeted with mostly positive reviews, the best coming from "Sound of Music" star Julie Andrews. "The minute I got home from the Oscars I called her," Andrews told ABC News after the ceremony. "She sang superbly and then so lovingly handed me the evening on a platter, if you know what I'm saying." Can't please 'em all, Gaga.

Yeah, your opinion doesn't matter much when Julie MF Andrews already gave her overwhelming approval of the performance.

I don't see the point in him making that comment. What was his point in doing this? It was not a "travesty". If he wants to talk about emotions and artistry then blah blah blah but you cannot deny the performance was vocally spot-on. It was a musical tribute. She wasn't playing the role in a performance of the musical, so he can sit down. I just lost a good amount of respect for him. Sad.
Now, want to talk about a "travesty"? Let's talk about some of the movie casting for Into the Woods. Speak up, Stephen...

Happy birthday Gaga! As much shade as we all loved to throw at her during her album cycles, she is one of the only exciting and controversial music acts we have left and I NEED a new Gaga album ASAP so we can all sit on the edge of our seats to see what else she will surprise us with music wise, performance wise, video wise, etc. GIVE US LIFE GAGA!!!!!

As long as she's fully involved and invested in the project, though... Not like the mess of ArtPop (that App was the most useless thing I've ever downloaded to my iPhone! Let alone the lack of promo, videos canceled or released at weird time, etc.) I still love the album though, but thought it was a missed opportunity. I'm quite excited at what could happen next. She's in good graces again and she could have a major comeback. I hope she does!

2 more years and "Judas" may be over 1 million. :'( But "Just Dance" should pass 7 million very soon.

Very nice sales. JD will be over 7 million very shortly. I was pretty surprised to see that "Do What U Want" is platinum, given its lackluster performance
For albums, does this "technically" mean that TFM has sold 7.2 million to date?

For albums, does this "technically" mean that TFM has sold 7.2 million to date? No. I wonder if they even have a breakdown though. Someone must. I'd be curious. But between the two albums, The Fame and The Fame Monster EP, they were available in 3 different entities. The Fame single CD, The Fame Monster single CD and The Fame Monster double CD with The Fame. For both The Fame single and The Fame Monster double, they counted toward the totals for The Fame, while only The Fame Monster single CD counts as that 1.6 million. So the 4.6 million for "The Fame" is spread across the single CD version and double CD version. I'm curious to know what the split is for that. Hypothetically, if 1 million of that was for The Fame Monster double CD version, then we can conclude that The Fame has 4.6 million copies out there and The Fame Monster has 2.6 million out there.

I'm mostly surprised "Marry the Night" has sold that much. "The Edge of Glory" will go triple platinum soon... yay!

The week before the re-release: 34 LADY GAGA FAME 28,600 13 25,377 1,658,393I assume the re-release makes up the vast majority of The Fame's sales after that..

Bish is up to something! Tweeting at RedOne today, and from her JoCalderone account. I'd guess that collab she worked on for RedOne's album is coming soon. Ha Uptown Funk is upon us.

I assume the picture is untouched or unaltered so taking that into account, it's a good photo.
