Honestly, unless they had her up there in front of a green screen, which I'm sure they didn't, I'd definitely bet money on the opening being taped possibly even a week ago. The logistics of it all would just be too much. But regardless, I just watched it all again for probably the 5th time and was brought to tears during Born This Way. I love being able to hear so many voices, it felt like the world just accepting themselves and everyone around them. What a great fantasy. Also really love how diverse her dance crew is, not just racially, but there's super tall people, short people, etc...it's cool! Actually here is the proof, you are right. Fan made video at the Superbowl. The audience saw the entire opening performance on a screen and it was then live when she was lowered down to the tower. Haha cool! Yeah, I just don't see how they would wanna try to do it aaaaallllll live. Either way, loved it. Can't stop thinking about it.

Let me ask this, what is everyone so afraid she would have lost or what would have happened if she were to have been boldly political and made a drastic statement? To me it seems declining popularity and fewer record sales would be the fear, but would hardcore Trump supporters, many of them poor to middle class middle age straight white men, really buy her music anyway? Or, would her hardcore fans not buy her music because of this? That would be ludicrous. Most people probably wouldn't care, because, less you don't pay any attention to the polls or the general feelings of everyday Americans, most people do not like Trump!

Look at what happened to the Dixie Chicks after they spoke out back in the mid 2000s. A large chunk of their core fanbase abandoned them and Country radio stopped playing them. There was a lot of backlash that they were never able to recover from. Madonna also faced similar backlash and loss of radio support after her statements in 2003 and the whole American Life album which focused on those types of sentiments, however, one could make a case that radio would have played her less anyway as she was older after that. It was only after the fact that many were like, "Wow. They were right."

I'd be down for a Dance-Pop album from her as early as this summer. If the rumor about her and Metallica is true, then maybe part of it is going to be John Wayne?

Most people probably wouldn't care, because, less you don't pay any attention to the polls or the general feelings of everyday Americans, most people do not like Trump! I don't think it's a case of her own fanbase not buying her music or supporting her but whatever her statement would have been would have taken away from her performance because then all coverage would be about her statement. There would be criticism from the right, obviously, which is probably neither here nor there but less people would be praising her performance for what it was and more would be commenting (either for or against) her statement. Which is maybe fine, but many many celebrities have made statements in some way and Gaga's would be another to add to the laundry list. It would get lost in the shuffle and that would be the end of it. It seems many people no longer care for the lost art of subtly. I saw one article that said something like "if you think Gaga didn't make a political statement, you're privilege is blinding you" or whatever. I think that's true. The statement was there. For once, she kept it subtle. Maybe the question back to you is, what could she have said or done that would have been in any way beneficial to anyone? Note: angering the right is not beneficial. Entertaining, yes. Beneficial, no.

You're more likely to get backlash from country music from anti president statements than pop music

It was only after the fact that many were like, "Wow. They were right." not necessarily. Madonna was coming off a previous solo Top 10 hit on both radio and the Hot 100 - "Die Another Day" just less than a year earlier. "American Life" just wasn't a good song at all, and her stance on war didn't help things either. Had "American Life" been "Hung Up" instead, she would've smashed still, i think.

Every article I'm seeing about the performance addresses her being political. Whether it was political enough, or that people didn't get her political statement, why she shouldn't or shouldn't have been.
The point is, as I've said, Lady Gaga, as an artist, is inherently political, because of what she stands for.
America was waiting for what she was going to say.
Apparently she said something while choosing to be subtle about it. Which is my disappointment. NOTHING about this girl is subtle. She was born a rebel.
Anyway, I'll let it go. This performance will be forgotten in a week.

Second biggest audience ever with 117.5 Million, ahead of last years 115.5, and only behind Katy Perry's 2015 Show (118.5, this is also still the most watched Superbowl). Let the stan wars continue!

I had a feeling she didnt really jump since they didnt show it. Epic performance nonetheless. :)
Huffington Post has an article that she was up there to record the video, but due to weather they didnt want to risk it live.

How does her iTunes performance post-Super Bowl compare to that of Coldplay/Katy/Bruno/Beyonce?

1. Was that really so subtle? Did people miss the political statement or they're just pretending they didn't see it? Not only she sang about America (those songs are not part of her catalogue BTW) she clearly said "one nation... justice for all" That's not even subtle, she said the message in actual words. How can that not be a political statement?
2. And even if you choose not to see that as an overt political statement, what exactly do you think she could have said that hasn't already been said by dozens of celebrities? Could she reveal something about Trump we don't know yet? How could have Gaga made her performance more political in a way that we would wake up Monday to a new world?

The ONLY thing that bothers me about this political question is how right-wing media trolls like Piers Morgan and Tammy Lauren were appeased and thanked her for "not being political" (whether or not she was is another story). Everything Gaga stands for flies in the face of their beliefs and they don't deserve to feel represented by her.
EDIT: Btw she killed it.

It's nice that JOANNE is the album getting the biggest increase in sales due to the performance. I wonder if ARTPOP can surpass platinum in sales now?

Both Pier and Loren went after Beyonce for her "racist" performance at last year's SB. Is John Wayne the next single? It's featured on Apple Music's Hot Tracks.

I had a crazy day and found myself standing about 15-20 feet away from Lady Gaga.
So I was working and came by this building that looked sort of like it could be a studio of some sort and I'm supposed to be meeting someone, but I'm not sure what they look like. There's a few trucks and people loading up stuff. I start to worry I'm at the wrong spot and hoping I'm not gonna get yelled at. I walk a little ways away from the main door and just post up watching for clues of who I'm supposed to meet. Then these two guys come out and start barking at the guys loading the truck and a bunch of people start flooding out of the door running around doing things then I notice who I think is Lady Gaga and I'm like WTTFFFF...hahahhaha so I start having a mini panic and then this guy goes "Daniel?" and he was the one I was supposed to meet up with so I had to leave, but I was casually trying to bring up everything and he said she's recording backing vocals on (I think) willie nelson's son's album? It may have been someone else's son, but I think he said willie nelson...either way, it was really cool to see her like that. I partially wish I had the balls to walk up to her, but at the same time, idk what I'd say that would really matter lol and I was working so I shouldn't...haha
