The drone show was definitely pre-taped as Intel confirmed that. Had to do with FAA regulations and not taking a chance on weather conditions. Just not clear if the entire opening was pre-taped (including her singing) or if they just inserted the drone show as a backdrop on the live performance. I am thinking the entire thing was pre-taped as her hair was more pulled back and slicked down when she sang up on top of the stadium vs. when she was singing on top of the tower. So could have been filmed hours apart. Honestly, unless they had her up there in front of a green screen, which I'm sure they didn't, I'd definitely bet money on the opening being taped possibly even a week ago. The logistics of it all would just be too much. But regardless, I just watched it all again for probably the 5th time and was brought to tears during Born This Way. I love being able to hear so many voices, it felt like the world just accepting themselves and everyone around them. What a great fantasy. Also really love how diverse her dance crew is, not just racially, but there's super tall people, short people, etc...it's cool! Actually here is the proof, you are right. Fan made video at the Superbowl. The audience saw the entire opening performance on a screen and it was then live when she was lowered down to the tower.

What an explosive ending. Million Reasons and Bad Romance were what stood out for me and the choreography and staging were stunning. She now has Grammys, a Golden Globe, nominations for the Oscars and Emmys. And now a memorable super bowl performance . I'm glad she focused on her artistry instead of making a political statement. She did have some very subtle jabs at trump. To me the performance was all about inclusion.

The set-list was pretty good. Maybe a little more Edge of Glory and she could have switched Telephone for Paparazzi or Applause, but I think it was a pretty wise choice to leave ARTPOP and most of Joanne out.
I dislike Born this Way but it is one of her biggest songs and it does make a statement which made it a good choice.
Hopefully radio pays attention to the very good reception her performance is getting and picks up Million Reasons.

I was highly disappointed. It was very choppy and did not flow well at all.

I wish I was rooting for MR after last night, but I am so over it. Instead, again, I'm rooting for her to bring back what made that performance so amazing - energetic dance music, high concept and exciting choreography, a message of unity, and amazing vocals. Joanne is almost the opposite of that. The aesthetic was cute for 20 mins but please Gagz, give us some new music we yearn for. I'll even wait til this fall.

But Telephone is one of her most remembered and replayed hits!
I got so happy when it started, and when they all did the bounce!

Is it wrong of me to say that there are some instances, like Gaga at the Superbowl, where, when someone completely snubs it or says it sucked, it takes away from their credibility and reliability of their opinion because it's obviously not coming from a place of reason? Like, it can obviously be argued that it wasn't the best halftime ever. There have been many amazing halftime performances but to say it was bad enough to say it sucked? Can such an opinion be invalid? What is good to someone like that? Maybe I'm just easily amused.

Edge of Glory is like, at the top of her belting range for every single note of the song. I understand why she wouldn't put it in a 13-minute mega-sprint of a set, but it is one of her standout hits that's notably absent from the performance (aside from the callout at the beginning).

Hey, I'm a huge Madonna Stan and yesterday I had to post on Facebook that this was the best halftime show I've watched (i.e. Past ten years) despite my standom for Madonna and admiration for Bee

I'll have to re-watch it to make a full determination but Bey's was pretty bad ass if I remember correctly.

Was no one listening to..
"No matter gay, straight or bi Lesbian, transgendered life I'm on the right track, baby I was born to survive No matter black, white or beige Chola or orient made I'm on the right track, baby I was born to be brave"
As said above, if she had outright said anything anti-Trump, it would've a) completely taken away from the performance (this is HER SuperBowl performance after all, she wants it to be loved and remembered by all) and b) would've just angered the right which would've angered the left and the message she was going for would be completely ignored. This way, she made it clear what she believes in and what she believes others should believe in, but did so in such a way that was "meh, this is obvious, no big deal"

I actually liked how she inserted the political message-This Land is Our Land is one that has been used in Anti-Trump messages/rallies and also in support of Obama and his inclusive policies (as well as having a history as a protest song in its own right, of course). Then, singing the unaltered lyrics to Born This Way... It was a way to make her message known without necessarily wearing a Trump Sucks shirt or something. I am not entirely surprised it went over some people's heads, but I think it was a positive way to make the message known without getting dragged into the controversy that would have overshadowed the show if she had done something openly antagonistic.

Second biggest audience ever with 117.5 Million, ahead of last years 115.5, and only behind Katy Perry's 2015 Show (118.5, this is also still the most watched Superbowl).
