That's weird that Z100 would drop it so fast isn't it? It appeared on their playlist for 2 weeks and then dropped? Maybe the deal was longer than 1 day????

I've broken out this week's adds to better understand the overall picture.
The Cumulus adds appear to be legitimate. Most of these stations have gradually increased spins over the past week, greatly reducing the effect of the iHeart desertion. KKOB Albuquerque KMCK Fayetteville KQXY Beaumont KSZR Tucson WABD Mobile WAOA Melbourne WBHT Wilkes-Barre WHHY Montgomery WHOT Youngstown WHTS Grand Rapids WIOG Saginaw WMGB Macon WSSX Charleston WWCK Flint WWKL Harrisburg
Independently owned stations also appear to be legitimate; a couple are already spinning regularly, but new spin infusion from the others should help "Living for Love" over the next few days. KDLW Albuquerque KSXY Santa Rosa WMFQ Gainesville WYOY Jackson X003 SiriusXM Venus
The iHeart group is the tricky one. All but two are auto-adds, but why did they report "Living for Love" this week, when last week all iHeart stations so specifically prevented auto-add reporting? Also, several iHeart stations (NYC, LA, Chicago, Dallas, Washington, and Boston most notably) still were careful not to auto-add LFL. Will some of these stations reintroduce the song into their playlists? This will be the greatest factor in stemming the bleeding that we've seen over the last three updates. KBKS Seattle KISO Omaha KPLV Las Vegas KWNW Memphis KYLD San Francisco WAEB Allentown WAEV Savannah WAKS Cleveland WDCG Raleigh WFLZ Tampa WHKF Harrisburg WHQC Charlotte WIOQ Philadelphia WJJS Roanoke WKCI New Haven WKFS Cincinnati WKQI Detroit WKSL Jacksonville WKSS Hartford WKXJ Chattanooga WLAN Lancaster WLDI West Palm Beach WMKS Greensboro WNOK Columbia WRNW Milwaukee WRVW Nashville WVKS Toledo
If many of the above iHearts start to come back on board in the next few days, the tide could turn fairly quickly. Otherwise, I expect rather dismal reports through the end of the week.

Thanks, botox. I can't say I understand the adds reporting- for instance, last week, the list of adds, per BDS, included WHTZ (Z100). Yet, per Mediabase, no add.

Botoxic- so does that mean that the amount of non auto adds this week was around 17?

Did it hit #2 due to preorders, or did people buy the song? Hopefully she ends up with another UK top 10!

LFL was not part of the album preorder in the UK, it wasn't available in the UK at all until now. It was just released as a single so any of its sales are it's own and will count towards the UK Singles chart.

It's great that they made it available in the UK before her performance tonight at the Brits. Something her team's actually done right, in terms of a release. However, the No. 2 ranking supposedly includes instant-grats- but, it wasn't one of the original instant-grat tracks when the album became available for pre-order (LFL itself was listed for pre-order), and that No. 2 ranking looks to reflect the album pre-orders up until now. And we think the USA chart system is messy. it's also ranked No. 314 (standalone), and a couple of remixes are in the top 400. If I understand it right, the big negative Mediabase updates will continue through Saturday's info (with the first seven days out of the mix)? At that point, it will probably be below 800 total spins for the rolling period, which, hey, still is more than some may have anticipated. :)

Why didn't her team use the same delayed release strategy to coincide with the Grammys in the US? Why were the UK charts more important to them?

Looking at how it's treated there, though (with album pre-orders counting toward the No. 2 ranking), in retrospect, is it really much better? :)

^I guess I'll legitimately answer that after seeing where it ends up peaking on the UK chart, which will probably be higher than #108
On another note: How did L4L ' s airplay compare to Celebration's?

"Celebration" peaked in the Top 10 of the UK Airplay chart, and at #3 on the UK Singles Chart.

In the USA, "Celebration," if I recall, peaked at around 6.2m BDS audience (higher than Mediabase, because of stations not represented in Mediabase's Quick-Cut info). LFL's probably at 5-5.5m in BDS audience. Of course, "Celebration" didn't come close to the top 40 at pop radio. Sales (at a time when streaming was not in the mix) gave it one week on the Hot 100, though.

Botoxic- so does that mean that the amount of non auto adds this week was around 17? The Cumulus adds were Monday morning auto-adds. This means the Cumulus block has told Mediabase that they do not intend to report adds manually. First thing Monday morning, Mediabase looks at those stations' playlists for the week prior and adds any songs that were played at least 7 times. (A few Cumulus stations had less than 7 spins for the week but should get picked up in next week's adds.) Four of the independents and two iHeart stations (Toledo and Roanoke) added "Living for Love" manually, indicating a PD or MD decision to add the song into rotation (or continue spinning in the iHeart cases). The remainder of the iHearts and the satellite add are Tuesday afternoon auto-adds. These are default adds of songs played 7 times in the past week, but only because the stations did not manually report any adds for the period. Several additional iHeart stations played "Living for Love" more than 7 times last week but avoided auto-adds by manually reporting (and not adding LFL). I checked out spins for a couple of hours yesterday, and at least two of the auto-add iHearts are still spinning (Las Vegas and Allentown), plus one that didn't auto-add (Dayton). So some of the Tuesday iHeart auto-adds may have been intentional, and there appears to be a commitment to continue spinning. With the exception of the large iHeart station spins, "Living for Love" looks to be following an organic growth pattern typically undertaken by new artists. It is on a good number of small market indicator stations and is starting to pick up a lot of the medium market stations on the pop panel as well. If it can gain traction (positive callout scores, research, requests) at these stations, it wouldn't be a complete shock for some of the larger markets to "re-add" in the coming weeks.

I still don't understand the lack of support from HOT AC or the lack of a push there.

I just don't get why they bothered with buying so much airplay for GMAYL and then didn't care about doing it for LFL.
As far as I can tell, M put more effort into this album than she had the previous couple, so it seems weird to me how little effort is now being put into promoting it.

Maybe they don't think spending that amount is a wise investment after the performance of MDNA

Will get a high entry on official weekly chart on Sunday , especially after appearance on the Brit awards . Getting good airplay on radio, especially on the all important Capital fm , if they play any song , it will be a hit .

It is on a good number of small market indicator stations and is starting to pick up a lot of the medium market stations on the pop panel as well. This week's BDS chart report would suggest otherwise; it still hasn't cracked the Indicator Top 40. Wasn't among the most added songs of the week, either.

^Which list are you lookin' at? BDS shows 56 adds; last week, it showed 24 (the week prior, probably 14 or a little less). RE adds, this is what BDS states: Most Added is the total number of new adds officially reported by each reporting station or by automatic add thresholds for stations not allowed to report adds Official info for Billboard's Pop Songs chart: No. 36, 1,131 spins (+784)- 5.792m audience
