Hot damn this is good. That pre-chorus is gold.

Not really fond of the chorus, it's a bit generic and lacks punch. However, I really like the verses/production of the verses. Should be another hit for Kelly.

This is reallly damn amazing.
It's fun and young without being pandering or immature. Production is on point and it's a fresh song for her.
Lyrically this reminds me of Wrapped in Red's original songs. Change some of the lyrics, and you can absolutely hear Wrapped in Red or Winter Dreams. That album really shaped her writing and I think she's leaps and bounds better than she's ever been.
Vocally, this song is amazing. Jack was right when he said it this really frees her up to do a lot of improvising/variations during live performances. Some of her best songs (IMO, obviously) aren't those where she's doing her insane vocals, but the subdued ones where she's selling it in her delivery. She hasn't used those on a single before, so I'm excited to see her blow this out of the water live. I can also already here a "rock" version, and an acoustic version that's more than just "the usual song, but with an acoustic guitar."
One of her best singles, and might be her most interesting one yet.
It's going to be amazing in concert, with everyone clapping with the drums. It's a lighters up arena anthem.

Billboard Review: "Heartbeat Song" is the sound of a reinvigorated artist embracing the opportunity to re-prove herself. .
link
Great review, but this is my favorite line. It's exactly the vibe I get from this song. It's such a refreshing, necessary change of pace for her, and she owns it completely. Lyrically unsubstantial, but she more than makes up for that by her continued growth in other sonic and vocal choices. This does exactly what I wanted it to do--picks up where her original christmas songs left off. I can't wait to hear what she's come up with for the album. I'd love it if she wrote on every song again.

Y'all, so I listened twice last night. I was on the defense during the first spin; I liked what I heard but didn't totally feel it. However, I knew it was a smash by the second go.
Then, when I listened this morning, a little tear came to my eye.

up to 25 on itunes!! So far outperforming MKIA's first day rise! MKIA only got to 45 on it's first day. Hopefully we get a banner soon. MKIA got a banner on day 3 which helped it peak at 4 that day.

The pre-chorus on this is EVERYTHING. In fact it's so epic it makes the chorus a bit underwhelming. Great first single for her, 2015 is really starting to look like it's going to be incredible for the music industry.

Not bad. It's no MLWSWY instant hit but it's KC so gotta love it. Safe hit for sure. MLWSWY> MI>CM >HS> Breakaway>MKNIA for first real single eras. Glad she's back. I didn't realize it had been so long since her last album; her GH era ran awhile.

Does this have a radio deal today? Yes! At least on my iHeart Media stations. One is playing it at every top of the hour, the other at the bottom of every hour.

Great melody, great vocals (duh), but the production feels too familiar. Really not a big issue at all, though. It's solid. Should be a hit.

I hope it's a hit with longevity for her. I definitely liked "Mr. Know It All" more. This is very juvenile, I was hoping for a more organic sound like MKIA.

This is really cute, not my fav lead single by her, but solid. And more importantly, and bonafide smash.
