Wonder why they never cited "Blank Space" topping the three million threshold? They already did last week. It's posted on the 1/31/15 thread. :) www.yahoo.com/music/maroon-5s-sugar-rushes-to-the-top-10-108767996651.htmlTaylor Swift's βBlank Space,β which logged seven weeks at #1, dips from #2 to #3 in its 12th week. It holds at #1 for the sixth week on the Radio Songs chart (which measures radio airplay across all genres). The song tops the 3 million mark in digital sales this week. It's Swift's second 3-million seller from 1989. βShake It Offβ is up to 3,763,000.

That "most consecutive weeks in top ten for a song that debuted there" is sort of record not many people care about, it just states that a song had a great debut and decent longevity, but whatever rocks your boat. Does anyone know if the video for Style has been shot? There's a lot of records Billboard posts that people don't care about...still a record though

Lol "Shake It Off" is most certainly having great longevity any way you slice it.

Not really...it's not top 10 in sales or airplay anymore so clearly it is the streaming keeping it at #5 and pbviously majority of the views come from the recent viral video. Nope! Digital Songs 7 9 10 22 Shake It Off, Taylor Swift 1 kworb.net/pop/

^But we're talking about the 2/7/15 week where it is now at #5. I'm just trying to disprove your point that "Shake It Off" is only #5 because of the viral video. The "it's not top 10 in sales or airplay anymore" argument is only applicable for the next chart week.

Nope! Digital Songs 7 9 10 22 Shake It Off, Taylor Swift 1 kworb.net/pop/As if three places from top ten territory is such a huge difference? I don't know why the argument of "Shake it Off" not having great longevity is being had considering all evidence points to the contrary. The song was released nearly six months ago and is STILL charting high (cop video or not, as the song was doing well before it went viral regardless). Six months later and it is still top 15 in sales and top 20 in airplay. To me, that's pretty damn great longevity. lol We can expect a boost from the Grammys as well.

I swear it was like #16 yesterday. And Daniel nobody said anything about the 2/7 week, they were just making a general statement about how "Shake It Off is still overall really popular without the viral video" which, as of the last couple of days, is not true as SIO is not in the top ten of iTunes or airplay

For its age, "Shake It Off" IS still popular, so he wasn't wrong. Whatever propelled it to the top of streaming, ya know the cop video, still doesn't change the fact that the song is a topic of conversation. It was the sass of the cop ALONGSIDE his song selection that made the video so wildly popular. An older male cop getting down to Tay Swift's "Shake It Off"?!! Gotta see it. It wouldn't have gone viral with any old tune.

I get it, but I don't understand how that video is still viral after a week lol. One would think that everyone and their mothers have seen it by now. Hopefully it died down this week.

Everyone and their mothers are probably streaming regular videos too, not just the one with the cop.

Everyone and their mothers are probably streaming regular videos too, not just the one with the cop. Yeah but those aren't actually viral hence why they die down a lot more gradually What I mean by that is that official music videos will be watched over and over again by many people, whereas viral videos like the cop one will only be watched once by majority of people just because they want to see what the hype is about (Gangnam Style doesn't really count because though it originated as a viral smash, it eventually became an actual hit just like SIO or AATB or whatever whereas the cop video is just the hype of a few days when it's a new thing and then people will just return to their normal lives waiting for the next viral thing lol)
