So when will we get those call out scores? I think we have to wait like a month for those normally.

I can't stomach this song like honestly. And I think I could tolerate it a little but for Kanye, but his presence I just actually can't handle

Probably the best, most clear cut example of Pulse not always matching up with the general population. This song was almost universally and violently trashed on Pulse when it came out, yet it's become a huge hit that has a very good chance at #1 on the Hot 100. (Don't get me wrong, sometimes Pulse is almost prescient when it comes to future hits, but this was obviously not one of those times). This is nothing new, everyone hated on WFL, Diamonds, and What's My Name too.

Who is in the background making those awful sounds during Kanye's verse? It sounds like a cat dying. I can't believe it is Rihanna since I think she sounds great on the rest of the song but who else could it be? How could they even leave that in there? I can't get over it.

I still don't think that changes the fact that this is probably one of Rihanna's weakest (if not THE weakest Rihanna single) ever. That said, I didn't know they'd be giving it a platform at The Grammy's which sold it to a lot of people. Had that performance not happened, I think a lot of people would still be singing the same tune, because, let's be real, she did kill it there.

An entire week after it was released, it was STILL in the top 3 on US iTunes (and, worldwide it had already hit #1 in many countries). No one can act like this was dying, and then the Grammys magically resurrected it from death.

That is truly exceptional situation anyway, that Grammy magic I mean.
I don't think anyone in any circumstances thought that Grammy performance would HURT this song. The reaction was pretty average I'd say. Sometimes it baffles me that people expect iconic pop stars such as Rihanna to have to SELL a song to audience each time around. She doesn't have to do that, her songs are usually hits on their own.

We Ride, Rockstar 101, California King Bed, You DA One, Talk That Talk, Right Now, What Now, and Can't Remember to Forget You all say otherwise. I wish people would stop trying to bring up excuses for this song's success. The GP uses it, and the naysayers here were just plain WRONG regarding its commercial success and critical acclaim. We all still have room to grow as chart and pop song experts. Just accept it and move on Btw #1 in Australia :'(

So...is this looking like a sure fire future #1 on the Hot 100? Unless they put it on Spotify or she performs it elsewhere (the latter being less likely than the former imo), I don't see it happening tbh.

So...is this looking like a sure fire future #1 on the Hot 100? Not a "sure fire." We really need it on Spotify which I'm becoming more and more doubtful that will happen. Basically its a waiting game at this point for Uptown Funk and Thinking Out Loud to finally peak in audience and sales, while this continues to grow on all five formats, hopefully. Other than that, Style is this song's only real competition after that. And even then it just really depends on the video impact and SNL performance for that song and its sales.

Didn't Blank Space hit #1 without Spotify? Should be no problem then.

Didn't Blank Space hit #1 without Spotify? Should be no problem then. True, but Blank Space also had its video which was viewed countless times upon its debut and subsequent weeks, therefore generating a ton of streaming points. While the video for FFS has received some understandly decent initial views, I don't think it has the same replay value as Blank Space's, nor is it as eventful, which will probably lead to less and less streaming points as the weeks go by (it's at 30 mil views on Youtube rn, and not all of those come from the US). That's why I think we need Spotify: it's not a video, so if one doesn't like it or thinks it's boring, one can always just listen to the song and that will count toward its chart placement, too. It would give even more streaming points and probably help to make up for the video's dwindling streaming, in case that happens, of course

Initial callout scores: #26 positive, #22 favorite, #21 negative. Not very good at all. However, familiarity is barely over the 60% threshold needed to show up, and songs that appear that low in familiarity often see big changes, be it good or bad.

Thank you so much, Josh! :)
In other news, RocNation is doing something right and uploaded the song's performance at the Grammys onto Rih's VEVO/Youtube account, YASS! Watch it below:

Footnote needed: The lower the negative ranking, the better. :) Honestly though, I don't see how callout scores would even hope to bring this to a screeching halt, not unless they'd come in with something abysmal like <50% Positive (which "She Knows", "What I Like About You", "Can't Stop Dancin' ", "Tuesday", and "I Don't F**k With You" all have...and this does not). It just has too much momentum going for it right now.

I don't see how those callout scores would affect this song anyway If they were extremely good, that'd make this even stronger. Extremely bad, that could threaten to bring this to a screeching halt (possibly leading this to pull a "Hanging Tree"). In this case? Neither is true.

Although Diamonds got a lukewarm reaction at first, it def. caught on quickly so it's kind of hard to compare this new song to Diamonds which is def. way superior. Her team has just been too flawless to not have a much more instant pop/dance radio banger for single #2 and #3.It's beyond obvious they wanted to do something risky and obviously heard 'something' that most people aren't lol but knew she had mega momentum from her name brand and track record to be able to take the risk. Anyone in their right mind knows if this wasn't *Rihanna*, Kayne and Paul it wouldn't even get 100 views on You Tube by a random person lol let alone a single spin on radio. Really, really wanted this to grow on me but dislike it every bit now as when I first heard it :(.

Except songs just like this have become hits on radio in the past, from names no where near as huge as Rihanna. Some of you people are acting like this is the first acoustic song you've ever heard.
