Mumford and Sons and Ben Gibbard (from Death Cab for Cutie) have spoken out against this service publicly. They better lock their doors, sprinkle holy water around their property and pray their pets and children don't disappear into the night... I'm afraid is already too late for them... The "declaration" has been signed. They will hunt them down one by one in the middle of the night.... I wont even comment on that first picture at all but why are they all dressed for a funeral. Something is really off with this whole Tidal thing, it might just be me but it seems so creepy.

MESS. Sony wants $35 million? But Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, and other Sony artists are on there. Doesn't make any sense unless there's a "grace period" before payment is due.

I mean what did Tidal expect? Seriously, why would iTunes promote content that is given priority at another service. That's just bad business. With the slip in digital sales, Apple needs its streaming service to be huge in order to keep its 'eco-system' going.

They should stream the audio from the elevator at the Met gala the night Solange f**ked up Jay. I'd consider subscribing for that. #tidalfacts That'd get me doing my Illuminati dance for sure.

Musicians involved in Tidal are given their own accounts on the site which they can use to monitor who listens to their music, and to see statistics about how their albums are performing. Schlogel says that part of that system is the ability to see contact information of users so that musicians can get in touch with them directly. That's creepy as f**k. Why does Madonna get to see my phone number and billing address just because I listened to one of her songs? So she can come to your room in the night...

You got over a billion dollars standing on stage b!tching about dollars and cents when the people you should be helping, independent artists, are not even fairly represented in the whole thing. If they would've gotten on stage with a few "discoveries" I would be swayed differently. Yet you have people like Calvin Harris and Daft Punk that get paid over a million dollars per DJ set, The Knowles-Carter brigade that earned over $100 million in tour revenue alone last year from their World Tour, Madonna with a $305 million grossing tour off a flop album, Jason Aldean's tours are grossing $45-50 million annually, and the list goes on. These are the wrong faces for your cause. Also the ceremony was some gaudy bullsh!t that shouldn't have even happened unless a full blown concert was going to commence like an Apple iEvent. The artists that are NOT VIP/Priority artists should be the ones giving me the 411 about the "struggle." Also I'll be damned if I spend $250-400 for studio quality headphones and another $20 a month for the service. Spotify got that free desktop and PS3/PS4 app service. Bye bitch. Call me when you get real exclusives like Dr. Dre's "Detox", Rakim's lost album, or tap into Prince's vault. Madonna better not call me unless she is going to distribute some of them coins my way as a bribe to stay on the service.

I actually just got Tidal today. I've never fucked with streaming before, but all the sites I used to illegally download from have gone downhill. I actually like it so far. The offline part is cool, that way I can listen out of the house and not use my data on my phone. Do Spotify and other services have an offline option?
I got to watch The Night Is Still Young and Feein Myself too, which is worth the 30 day free trial haha.

yeah spotify has the offline option if you subscribe Which is $10 a month. Same as Tidal? I don't get why people hate it. Sure, it adds nothing significant to the streaming market, but I like the interface of Tidal better than Spotify after checking it out and its cool to see some exclusives. Obviously, the exclusives will become better over time, especially after a lot of free 1st month's are completed and Tidal brings in some revenue and can afford better exclusives. You know the new BeyoncΓ© album, Rihanna etc will all be on Tidal first, so for me it makes the decision between Spotify and Tidal easy.

So you're going to keep spending $10 a month on something that "may" drop somewhere between now and never? Ok. Spotify has more licenses and user base which means more music and more playlist selections. Spotify also has free service for desktop and PS3/PS4 meaning I can suffer through an ad spot every 30 minutes for unlimited consumption at MY will and not random selection. They also offer Hi-Fi sound without a premium being attached. You are banking on things hopefully getting better in the future. A lot of people that signed up for the free service have already cancelled because there is no justified reason to keep it. I'll keep being the bad guy and watching and listening to the rips from their exclusives online.

Those exclusives might be good for Tidal but for the artists themselves it'll backfire. No steaming site will have anywhere near to 100% of its potential consumers on board and those large majority who aren't interested but who do like music by these Tidal artists will be pissed and get turned off from it all.

Make sure you keep a list of all of your Tidal playlists so you can rebuild them in Spotify once Tidal goes under.

^ Because Spotify is the best alternative. and most widely available. With Spotify, they really need to do something about all of the bugs and slow loading and PC resource hogging with certain versions. I used to use it a lot at home but it just doesn't work that well now so I use it only when I have to. We have the same issue on our work computers. We thought we had a virus or some malware and we had to put in service requests to get them checked out. The IT department wasn't happy when they found out that we wanted the PCs serviced because Spotify behaves badly sometimes. They act like they were never young once. Those bastards. They really need a Spotify Lite which doesn't have all the bells and whistles for emerging markets.
