Umm where'd all of this confidence of Four Five Seconds hitting number one come from? Probably just the fact that it's Rihanna lol. Also the song is getting played on 4 large radio formats atm, so could potentially get about 150-200 million AI if it goes near the top on all of them (e.g. 100 on pop, 40 on HAC, 30 on rhythmic, 20 on urban or something like that). Personally I think both FourFiveSeconds and Style could miss #1, but they're both shaping out to be big hits regardless (well, I'd argue they both already are).

I dont see Style having the streaming strength Blank Space & SIO have had. They had fun, humorous videos to go with them. Style is a sequence of beauty shots with Instagram filters. It will have a big first week, but I think the rewatch factor will be considerably lower than the first 2 singles.

Much as I love Style and would have liked for it to reach #1, I'm kinda glad that it might "flop" so that there may be an opportunity for Uptown Funk to continue its run at #1 into March. Of course, if Rihanna's song reaches #1 as a result of Style "flopping", I will be quite pissed. But considering the long string of dark red iTunes pop bars updates for Rihanna's song I'm not too worried about that happening. Hell, in fact, it's already #3 below Uptown Funk on iTunes when both versions of UF are combined. It's wiite interesting to see how things will play out in the coming weeks. Your post gives the idea that it's pretty much already set in stone that FFS won't hit #1 on the Hot100 because of a series of dark red updates on Kworb over a course of several hours. Songs can rebound, you know lol. With that being said, unless they put FFS on Spotify, I don't really see it going #1. Also, I think the Grammys was the only live performance of FFS we'll ever get.

So if "Style" ends up peaking at #2 or #3 because Bruno and/or Rihanna might prevent it atop, it will "flop"? I don't think so. That's why I intentionally put quotation marks around it. It would be considered a flop if it is an anticipated #1 and ends up slowing down a lot. For example, everyone was certain Stay would hit #1 and you saw how that worked out. On a side note, I like the new titling of the threads lol

I love the Style video! I would prefer if it had a bit more action and the movements linked to the music more, as well as more shots of her singing, but regardless it's awesome. Now we wait for One Last Time..

So Uptown Funk and Thinking Out Loud are almost evening out on iTunes...that means that with the airplay and presumably streaming (18M last week) advantage for Uptown Funk, this is not looking good for Ed :/ this is his only chance...hoping that somehow he can get that #1 after all like if TOL manages close to 20 million streams after the performance (it had 12 million last week without much effect from the performance so it may be possible)...

1. Thinking Out Loud 312,000 2. Uptown Funk 284,000 Not enough :( wonder how streaming was affected (though in any case it's probably not enough for ed to manage #1 this week).

Thinking Out Loud is #1 on Spotify but I'm not sure how big of a lead it has over Uptown Funk. Plus there's all the other streaming services too...

I don't know about Ed, but UF! has already regained #1 place on Spotify + only the official video on youtube got +21 million streams since Monday. I've posted my opinion of TOL's chances of getting that BB Hot 100 #1 already: The only chance it could sneak for a week on top imo is if it developed and mentained a huge lead on iTunes... It's only Friday and the lead had decreased to less than 3% already & UF keeps gaining hard.

Aren't people tired of Uptown Funk yet??? It'll be 4xPlat in two weeks and it seems pretty unbothered by the post Grammy boost, most likely regaining the #1 spot on iTunes in few hours. So it's not going anywhere anytime soon...

I mean, don't get me wrong, I like the track but doggone, give other songs a chance to shine. Shoot lol least for one week.
Style doesn't seem like a threat yet so it's not over...

Billboard did say that there was this intense fight going on between those two. Judging on how UF! spent a while out of the top two/three, you'd think its sales would be small. I still think Billboard could say TOL slightly outsold UF! but not by a huge margin. Who knows about the streams? And radio airplay was small for the both of them.

On iTunes, according to Kworb, while UF had another dark green update, it only increased less than 1%; TOL still showing green updates, albeit light. This is gonna remain close throughout the weekend. Combined, both songs are in dead heat. Lol
Doesn't Billboard count the multiple versions? Or do they not?

Hmm, Style should be doing a bit better on iTunes after the video release. However, way over 4m people have the song already so maybe I was too optimistic.

I'm sick of Uptown Funk. Radio can really kill stuff fast.
This fight for #1 reminds me of last summer, when every Arianator under the sun was streaming and requesting Problem to get to #1.

Style got about 6 million total views on day 1 (maybe 7 when the final count is done).

So clearly the video didn't boost the sales of Style NEARLY as much as people thought it would. The previous two singles shot up to #1 on iTunes instantly when the video came out. Also, Style video didn't even manage 6 million worldwide views in 24 hours (whereas Shake It Off has 15 million or something in the first day?). Kinda starting to doubt it's chances of ever getting to #1, let alone dethroning Uptown Funk in early March.

To be honest as much as I dislike Taylor Swift, Shake it Off and Blank Space were tolerable. I could actually listen to them without turning the radio.
Style on the other hand is awful. I don't see it getting #1. Maybe a peak of 3, but that's it.

How are the premiere views for "Style" versus "Blank Space?"
